Restarting the time war on my desk
Have I ever talked about my genuine belief that the Daleks created Davros?
I mean:
When we first meet the Daleks in The Daleks they're stated to be descended from the Dals, and are explicitly the result of long term exposure to the radiation present on Skaro instead of being engineered into being Daleks (in fact their entire goal is to be able to escape their casings and their city).
Now at a certain point we learn the Daleks have developed time travel and then a long while later we meet Davros.
And Davros is a scarred genius creator who single handedly created the Daleks... out of the Kaleds. And the timelords consider these guys a big enough threat that the Daleks need to be genocided before they're born...
So what if the Dalek's ran an anti-Genesis.
Not destroying the Daleks before they could become who they were, creating themselves before they were supposed to be born. You couldn't do it directly, that's too risky. So what if instead you found someone ripe for manipulation, someone who'd obsess over creating the Perfect species out of the already radiation poisoned world, and you just gave him the right nudge. And suddenly you're born centuries too soon, you have a thousand years to expand and think and develop, already knowing that you're the greatest species to ever live...
Am I the only one obsessed with Davros's speech in stolen earth? Honestly I have so many thoughts about the episode but let me at least start with that. For reference, this is the specific part I'm referring to:
"The man who abhors violence, never carrying a gun, but this is the truth, Doctor: you take ordinary people and you fashion them into weapons... behold your Children of Time, transformed into murderers. I made the Daleks, Doctor, you made this."
I kinda hate how much I love this and how true it is in some way because I hate Davros and also those are my emotional support characters, don't say that to them. But like, Rose killed a whole crap ton of Daleks on the Game Station (and sure it was deserved but it was killing nonetheless and I think technically she erased not just the Daleks on the ship but actually a lot of them, please correct me if I'm misremembering though, it's been awhile since I watched the episode), Idk much about Sarah Jane Smith but I know in that episode alone she threatened to use her warpstar necklace to blow crap up, Martha was going to use the osterhagen key to do something similar, and even Mickey was using the big ole cannon to kill Daleks along with Rose. And I'm going to stop here and make it very clear that I think all of these characters are good people, don't blame the Doctor at all, and know that the examples I bring up are all from emergency situations and therefore don't reflect these characters as a whole or on the regular, I'm purely saying that they have killed or threatened to do so and the situations were in some way connected to the connection they had with the Doctor, and therefore, I can see where Davros is coming from, even if I don't quite agree. And Rose quite literally did become a weapon of mass destruction as Bad Wolf (also would have loved at the very least a reference to if not appearance of Bad Wolf in this episode, as I so don't believe it didn't have any lasting effects on her, but that's a topic for another time.) But anyways, Davros conveniently forgets that in this case, especially he's the one forcing the Doctor's companions to consider resorting to violence. But also I love the idea that they are the Doctor's creations in a way, and not necessarily in a bad way, for many of them he exposed them to new experiences that changed their perspectives and attitudes, taught them new skills, and gave them the chance to be better than they were, and sure that might come with some inevitable changes as they grow and even some pragmatic and realistic tendencies but so is the natural cost of seeing the good and bad sides of life alike.
I know this is already long, but last bit: Children of Time. Tell me that's not such an apt, badass name for them. I love it, so wish it got mentioned more, cuz that's really what they are and how do you come up with such a cool name and use it only 1 time? Sucks imo, but hey, that's what fanfic is for, am I right? (Please if you have any fanfics suggestions with the children of time, and/or stolen earth au with bad wolf, don't hold out on me, share)
