Another awesome review from #DavidHBlack... I don't think I could have described it better myself 👊🏻 #Repost @davidhblack with @repostapp. ・・・ Here stands the 2001 #RosemountEstate #GSM. Winner of gold at the #RoyalMelbourneShow and #RoyalBrisbaneShow in 2002, once awarded 91 points by #JeremyOliver, mine tonight for $30. Here stands lost glory. Once #RosemountEstate was one of Australia's biggest family owned wineries. In 2011, when #TreasuryWineEstate walked out on Fosters, Rosemount was one of the children TWE won in the divorce. But this "child" has since been condemned to TWE's $10 sweatshop division. Here could be one of the last vintages produced by a more wholesome, emotionally organic Rosemount, made for the love of wine, not for the love of money. The bottle is beautifully presented. The cork is exposed by a naked glass neck, rarely seen. The cork was in much better shape than the chalky plug in the 1996 #Merrebee #Riesling that I butchered last week. If you've ever wondered what Blackforest cake would taste like if distilled and bottled, wonder no longer. This is it. Freshly uncorked it has this weird, briney aroma like the sea - I even had a listen for waves. No need for decanting. Flavours were huge on the first sip, like a snifter of good port. It boasts that sweet, juicy figure without sharper brandy influences. Deep cherries and deeper blackberries that reach in and massage the more recessed quadrants of the tongue. There's a quirky tang to the finish, like a hint of cough medicine you secretly enjoyed. It melds wonderfully with pizza, though stands best alone with the pallet undistracted. Bottom line; this is a sensuous beast. It's an education in complexity. It's #wine like this that gives us reasons to keep drinking without turning into #alcoholics. 5/5. #Wine #WA #winterofwine #redwine #Perth #picoftheday #photooftheday #AustralianWine #notawineexpert #notawinereview
