The peak of the cycle is blessed by such beauty.

The eternal enemy of civilization is complacency.Ā
From bondage to spiritual faith,
From spiritual faith to great courage,
From courage to liberty,
From liberty to abundance,
From abundance to selfishness,
From selfishness to complacency,
From complacency to apathy,
From apathy to dependency,
From dependency back again to bondage.Ā

JR: It is interesting, and somewhat disheartening at the same time, to see this cycle repeating itself throughout history. How can we break the cycle, and move from abundance to more emotional caring? Rather than becoming complacent and apathetic, we need to proceed so that we consciously stimulate ourselves into creating more goodness and beauty in the world. It will surely take a mammoth effort to encourage people to become sources of their own stimulation and creators of good, but if we do move forward in this way, the descent into complacency can be effectively halted.
PP: Plant a seed, either literally or figuratively (like a seed of hope), and water it, bearing witness to the goodness youāve nurtured.
PA: While this cycle seems to happen naturally in the course of human events, we have the capacity, through conscious effort, to break the chain which moves our society towards the downward spiral of destruction defining the last half of this cycle. I feel that much of todayās society is becoming increasingly selfish. Yet, by making people more aware (through my teaching, lifestyle, and in the organzation (JAMBO) I lead) that āit is in giving that we receiveā and that caring for others can be the most life-enriching activity you can give yourself, I hope to be a disrupter (to the above chain) that moves myself and others to a more beneficial cycle.
