I decided to go with the City of Cellano

Cellano is the capital city of Daskosa, and is home to almost 4 million people. It is where the nation of Daskosa began, starting off as just a city-state.

Located fairly far north on the Lenvaian continent, Cellano gets its fair share of snow. But things warm up in the summer time, allowing for nice greenery in the many parks and residential areas. It is known for being one of Hessdalen's cleanest cities, as well as among the safest.

The city is coastal, located on a bight of the same name. It wraps around the horseshoe-shaped bay, illuminating the water with the lights of its streets, docks and skyscrapers at night.

The Kalonis Peninsula is a small exclave of Daskosa, only about 20 km in length. About 50,000 people live in the territory, including the service members living on the Fort Lusce base and other smaller ones.

Kalonis has been a disputed area since Bysynth became a country in 147. The problem goes back to 124 when Eskathion still controlled Bysynth. At that time there were disturbances in Bysynthian communities who wanted independence and the occupation of their land to end. These calls became violent, and there were riots.

There were fears that they could erupt into a larger scale conflict, and wanting to avoid that on their southern border the Daskosans sent manpower and supplies to the Eskathish to help put down the riots. This move was criticised by many in Daskosa and its allies at the time, since it went against the morals of freedom the country holds and attacked the Bysynthian right to self determination and expression.

But the aftermath was not all bad for Daskosa. As thanks for their help, Eskathion gifted the Kalonis peninsula to Daskosa which was part of a Bysynthian district. The area was originally settled by Daskosans and still hosted a large population of them Having the peninsula also gave the country control over the Veerial River, so it was a welcome addition.

But the civil war they wanted to prevent eventually came, and in 147 Bysynth became a country. Immediately they adopted a grudge for Daskosa's involvement in 124, and demanded they return its occupied territory.

This dispute is a hot political talking piece in both countries. Yes, the area is ethnically Daskosan and was originally taken by Bysynthaisn before they were occupied by Eskathion. But its control by Daskosa is linked to a shameful part of its history, one that Bysynth will not let it forget.
