I simply cannot wait for this album to drop.

One of the best live acts I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

Full of jangle and mid-tempo alt-rock goodness, Slugs came out with Super Sane (seen / heard here) at the end of the year (December 2020).  If it feels alternately celebratory and depressing, that’s by design. The song was written during a time when one friend was killed in a motorcycle accident and another had just given birth to a new baby. It is against that counter-point that Super Sane plays, and it’s successful in every aspect!

The four-piece is comprised of Marissa Longstreet (singer/songwriter/guitarist), Sarsten Noice (bass/vocals), Josh Beavers (lead guitar), and Dash Hutton (drums). The overall sound is a delightful slow-burn and the lyrics fully acknowledge the two overarching (death and birth) conditions. 

Now for the confusing and disappointing part: Slugs have a Facebook page, but no other social media presence-at least none that is listed or linked to. They do have a Tumblr site, but that, too, is confusing. It hosts some apparent band swag for sale, most of which is listed as sold out, but no apparent way to purchase this gear. They do have a bandcamp.com site, which includes two earlier EP’s from 2017 and 2018 and a single from last May. Nowhere is a bio for the band. In short, the group could really use a good, focused, marketing plan. Since my original link to this content came from a very competent marketing agency, once can only hope that this is all coming soon. The band does have an Instagram Account here.

The negatives aside, consider picking up some Slugs music from their bandcamp.com site. Let’s hope that the future holds more greatness for this band!
