"You're going to be a mother?"
It was a question that Nafani had been so certain she would never hear. The idea had been a distant thought up until the past few weeks, a possibility that seemed impossible for her. Not in this lifetime. And yet there she lie, looking down at a small lump on her belly with as much hesitation as the one she spoke to. She let her head rest, she had even asked for him to sit beside her. Such news wasn’t something she expected the young male to take easily, especially when she found herself hardly believing.
“..I ‘spose so.” Nafani answered after a moment of silence, her golden gaze peering to Xen'aji as he sat with her. There was room to question who sired the growing pup, she knew he may not accept himself as the father, but she was well aware of the truth. She swallows the lump in her throat, wetting her lips and speaking slowly. “I be undastandin’…if'n ya wish ta leave. Lotta t'ings gonna be changin’. Won’ keep ya where ya not wanna be.”
