Chapter 2: Kira
“Who are you calling Rey?” the woman in front of you said, still holding the man up in the air. That woman was Rey, or at least she looked like her yet she was not the same, her eyes were the most notorious difference since they were colored yellow but there was more, when she spoke you felt like it was a stranger rather than the girl you’ve been dating for so long.
However, your attention centred on the poor guy floating in the air, you noticed he was desperately trying to get out of the invisible grip on his neck, he seemed to be really running out of oxygen.
“Let him go.” you begged.
A pair of yellow eyes darted at you with a wicked shimmer over them, a dare maybe, but never letting go of the man.
“Rey, I don't know what's going on but you gotta let him go or he'll die!” you urged getting a bit closer to her, “You don't want that.” you said a few feet away from this woman you thought you knew. “Rey, plea-”
“Stop calling me that!” she yelled as she walked towards you, a killer expression over the delicate features of her face that seemed to be darkened in anger. Your words made the yellow eyed woman get even more enraged, you saw it in the way she frowned as she gave a last squeeze to the air before finally letting go of the man who fell to the ground coughing and gasping for air. A medic rushed to help him.
“I’m not her, not that weak, not that naive.” she was right in front of you now, looking you up and down with a strange grin on her face. You always felt save and in peace whenever Rey was this close, however this was not Rey, not anymore
“If you’re not Rey.” you murmured “Then who are you?.”
She stayed quiet for what felt like an eternity, only analyzing your features, your hair, your eyes and lips, you looked familiar to her somehow.
Meanwhile the eyes of the Resistance were lying over you none of them exactly knew what to do, they were all in such a state of shock. You caught Finn and Poe’s gazes across the place, they seemed almost as confused as you yet they softly nodded.
“I know you, don’t I?” she finally said, breaking the uncomfortable silence she created. Her face seemed to recognize yours. “Oh, yes. You’re her precious little girl, aren’t you?.” she murmured with a malevolent grin on her lips. “Not bad, but I think she could have done better choosing a partner.”
“Please stop, Rey. This is not funny.” you murmured, still hoping this would be some sort of cruel joke, the look in her eyes told you otherwise, this was happening. “You’re scaring me.”
Carefully you searched for the faces of your friends across the place, begging for some help. You saw them slowly raising their blasters, making sure to put in on stun mode, they didn’t want to hurt Rey, but she looked like she needed to be stopped.
“Oh, honey.” The woman murmured tilting your face with her hand. “You really should be scared of me.”
“Who are you?” you asked her looking right into her yellow eyes.
“Call me Kira.” She said.
“Now!” you heard Poe’s voice before the stunner hit Rey, who fell instantly unconscious.
You catched her in your arms right before her body could hit the hard ground beneath your feet. She looked different, normal again. Her skin was not mortally pale anymore, as if she had just come back to life. You observed her wondering what happened, why she acted like that all sudden, what changed? Where was the real Rey?
********
When Rey woke up, she found herself in a strange place but as her eyes fluttered completely open she recognized the infirmary. Her head was aching and she felt kinda dizzy, but what confused her the most was that her mind was completely blank. She didn’t remember anything from the training, or how she had gotten to the infirmary, the shadow in the jungle was the last thing she remembered. No, there was something else, those eyes again, she saw yellow eyes and then just darkness.
“Rey…?” you doubted, entering the room. “You’re awake.”
“What happened?” was the very first thing she asked.
“You don’t remember a single thing?” you added, confused as you recalled the events of a few hours ago when your lover seemed like a total different person.
“No. Why?” she said, getting nervous, even afraid of what you may say. “Y/N, what happened. You’re scaring me”
“You were a different person.”
“What do you mean?” she frowned, confused. You sighed, sitting next to her in the bed.
“It was like you were gone, and someone else took your body.” you tried to explain. It was hard, really hard to explain. “You… changed. Even your eyes were different, they were-”
“Yellow.” Rey cut you off, her face was filled with fear, she knew those eyes she saw on an island long ago, she saw them in a nightmare the night before.
Taking her hand you tried to calm her a little bit.
“Rey, what’s happening?” you asked.
“I don’t know.” She said, “But I’m afraid." She confessed. Seeing how terrified she was you pulled her close to you, wrapping your arms around you, comforting, protecting her. It was rather unusual seeing her this weak.
"Hey, we'll figure this out." You murmured. "We always do."
You stayed until late night talking, you told her all about the events of the day, from the explosion to finding her holding the poor man in the air, and of course, the name of this woman she turned into, this Kira as she called herself that looked exactly like Rey and yet so different.
With every new word of yours fear grew inside Rey, panic of knowing the girl you were talking about was the same she had seen around the whole day, that shadow that followed her was no other than herself or rather the darkness inside her.
The next morning Rey was ready to leave Ajan Kloss, she needed answers and she knew exactly where to look for them, right where all had started, Ahch-To.
From the pilot seat she took one last look at the jungle, the green leaves were brighter with the early morning light. She hoped you'd understand why she was leaving.
Rey was about to start the engines when you let yourself fall on the seat next to her.
"What are-" she mumbled.
"You need a copilot." You told her with a smile.
"But, Y/N"
"I'm not letting you go alone, Rey." You said "I told you before, we'll figure this out. Together." Taking your hand you make sure she knew you weren't going anywhere.
She gave you a loving smile, already getting back at starting the engines, ready to go find answers, with you by her side.
Rey couldn't say no, of course no. She loved having you by her side, however she felt somehow worried at the same time, what if she changed again? What if she becomes her other side one more time? What if she hurts you? She just hoped it wouldn't happen because she'd never forget herself if something happened to you.
A/N: did I just start a new series a week before college? Yes, yes I did. So here it is, a small series about Rey and Dark Rey kinda sharing the same body since many of you were interested and I just loved the idea. Please let me know what you think!

Prologue
Inside every living being there are two natures: the light and the darkness, always looking to find balance. But there are times when one of this natures imposes on the other, breaking the balance and guiding them to darkness until it consumes the light completely. It has happened in the past and it will happen again, but it's in our hands to choose which side we want to be.
******
The Force was still something really difficult to understand for Rey when she arrived at Ahch-To, she had much to learn about it and about herself.
But she knew something, she was not the same anymore, she could feel inside her she was changing. She felt cold, that never used to happen before.
“Something inside me has always been there and now it’s awake. And I’m afraid.” Rey had told Master Skywalker, hoping he would know what was happening to her, what to do with the strange voice inside her but only scared her more. She didn’t understand what was happening to her, or why Luke seemed so afraid of her and the power he kept talking about, she was so confused.
Helpless.
Rey seeked answers her whole life, she had hoped to find them on Ahch-To, however the island hadn’t resolved any doubt to her, contrary, she had more questions than ever in her whole life.
“Who are you?” Luke had asked her inside the hollowed out tree, the question was stuck in her head, repeating over and over again until she couldn’t think of anything else. “Who am I?” she kept asking herself.
She desperately needed to answer that question.
Rey went there where the island felt coldest, from where a voice was calling her name, offering her to show her something she wanted. Something she needed. And even though Skywalker had warned her about this place, she decided to follow the murmurs that kept calling her into the darkness.
What she found there was confusing, at first Rey didn’t understand what was happening inside the mysterious cave, didn’t understand the infinite reflection of herself or why but she assumed it was leading somewhere and in the end she hoped to find the answers she came to see.
“Let me see them” she asked, placing one of her hands over the strange wall of the cave that seemed to reflect her figure. “My parents, please.” Rey barely murmured, afraid and excited at the same time, she spent years in the desert only thinking about how her parents would be, it didn’t matter for her if they were dead, they probably were, Rey just wanted to see them at least once.
She held her breath as two silhouettes formed in the mirror like made of smoke, they approached Rey becoming only one dark shadow that mimicked her posing on the other side of the mirror. When the blurred reflection cleared up it didn't revealed her parents like she wished, but instead a yellow-eyed woman looked back at her. It was herself yet very different: pale skin contrasting with the darkness of her clothing, she was Rey and a total stranger at the same time. It was a darker, more evil side of her. Her dark side.
The woman in the mirror seemed to enjoy the fear and confusion that spread over Rey's face as she grinned wickedly revealing a shiny row of pointed teeth.
Suddenly, the evil one got dangerously close to the mirror, her killer eyes seemed to want to end with the light on the mirror. She ignited a lightsaber, its red light illuminated her features for a moment before rising it in the air, her action scared Rey who by instinct backed away.
When she looked back at the mirror the yellow-eyed woman was gone.
Rey fell on her knees exhausted and more afraid of herself than ever now that she knew how strong the dark side was inside her.
Summary: In the new Resistance base Rey struggles with a shadow that keeps following her, not knowing that something or rather someone terrible is about to be unlashed.

A/N: this took me longer than I expected but I'm actually happy with how this turned out. Let me know what you think and as always, hope you like it!
Chapter 1: The Shadow
It was almost dusk when the small group gathered around the holotable, the last rays of sun slipped through the tall trees of Ajan-Klos casting shadows over the Resistance base. A last minute briefing meeting had brought the high rank members of the Resistance to this place, their tired faces awaited for the report from the mysterious spy inside the First Order.
The day had been really tiring, between fixing ships and the supply runs of the day you were exhausted. You stand next to the holotable hoping for good news and that this meeting wouldn’t be so long, you wanted to have a rest after the long day and spend some time with the beautiful brunette next to you.
Rey smiled at you when she felt your gaze over her, she seemed really tired after hours of training.
“Alright, the First Order is moving faster than we anticipated,” Poe spoke with a firm voice on the other side of the table. “they’re getting ready for something as the spy told us.” Once he started explaining the details the whole group of people seemed to pay full attention to his words. Everyone except Rey.
She was distracted or rather something was distracting her. Rey tried to concentrate on Poe's words, yet there was something strange in the place, a presence in the Force. It felt familiar and… cold.
A subtle movement of the nearby vegetation and the glimpse of a shadow put Rey in alert. She stared at the jungle for a moment but it was empty. She forced herself to believe it had been just the air and maybe the shadows that casted the sunset and turned her attention back to the meeting.
But as soon as she turned her gaze back to the hologram protection she heard a voice, a voice she knew. A voice like hers that murmured her name.
“Rey." The voice seemed to travel with the wind, coming from nowhere.
Rey looked around in search of the voice that called her name again when a new shadow passed behind Finn on the other side of the holotable.
You didn't realize what was happening but you did notice something was off with Rey. You knew her just too well to know something was bothering her. You noticed her body tensing as her gaze focused on something you couldn’t really see deep in the jungle.
“Rey, are you with us?” Poe asked, noticing she was not listening. “We need you to concentrate if this is going to work.”
“Sorry" she said. "I thought I saw something.” she apologized.
“As I was saying…” Poe continued.
Even though you should have paid attention to the briefing, your eyes focused on Rey for the rest of the meeting. She was distracted but you didn’t know why, and the way she kept scanning the place looking for something worried you.
“Rey” the mysterious voice reached her ears once again but this time louder. Closer.
“Rey?” you asked, seeing her confused looking around. "Everything alright?"
She seemed to calm down a bit when she realized it was you the one calling her. She even gave you a relieved smile when you took her hand.
“Yeah, I just-” she almost parilized when she caught a cloaked figure standing between the trees, hidden in the shadows the yellow-eyed woman observed them.”There's someone right there!” Rey almost yelled pointing at the woman in the cloak.
However, when everyone turned around to take a look she was gone, or maybe she never was there.
"There's no one there, Rey." Finn added as kindly as he could. Rey glanced back at the empty spot where the cloaked figure was standing just moments ago.
"It was there." Rey murmured, her face expressed confusion as she was still looking at the jungle where now BB-8 was scanning, the small droid informed that there was no sign of living form.
"Rey, are you sure you saw something?" Finn spoke again from the other side of the holotable.
"Yes... no, I-I don't know." Rey said. You observed the way her body tensed while her face filled with surprise, perplexity. And fear.
"Rey, you sure you're feeling alright?." General Leia added.
"I guess I'm just tired." Rey gave her a shy smile. "I'm sorry, General. I'm just interrupting the briefing." Her gaze traveled to the floor for a moment, thinking.
"I understand, Rey. Please go have some rest. I need you focused tomorrow morning." Leia told her.
"Yes, General. Thank you"
Rey looked at you one last time and gave your hand a soft squeeze before leaving the meeting. You observed how she walked away upset. Something was off with her.
Once she was gone your gaze focused on the spot in the jungle now in complete darkness.
*****
The blast door of your shared questers opened quietly, enlightening the small room. Rey was sitting at the end of the bed, a concerned look over her face almost covered by her loose hair. She must have been really stressed to loosen her usual three buns.
"How did the meeting go? Did I miss something important?" She asked as soon as she saw you.
"Not much, really. We know they're looking for something but not exactly what. The spy didn't tell us much." You told her with a soft smile sitting next to her. "It was actually a really boring meeting." You chuckled.
"It was." Rey added, softly chuckling. Then she went quiet again, thinking. This was bothering her more than she’d have liked, it was distracting her from everything.
"Are you going to tell me what happened back there?" You said dragging her out of her thoughts.
She knew what you meant, she wanted to tell you more than anyone what was going on but she was confused, didn't even understand what was happening.
"There was someone in the jungle. I swear, Y/N." She told you glancing into your eyes. She didn't need to swear it, you believed her, you’d always believed in her.
"You think it was Ren?" You asked, she used to have some sort of bond with him, she had told you sometimes she saw him through the Force. But as sudden as this connection appeared it as well was gone.
"No, it was a woman in a cloak, she was calling me."
"If nobody saw anything, perhaps it was a Force vision?" you added trying to comfort her.
"Maybe" she doubted. She was still hiding something.
"What is it, love?"
"I haven't been feeling myself lately." She told you. "I feel like I'm watching everything from someone else's eyes, sometimes I don't recognize myself in the mirror." Rey struggled to put her thoughts in words.
You understood it, or at least you though so. Rey had grown so much since the last time you met. War changes people but fortunately Rey had only changed for the better.
"Hey, it's alright." you said placing a hand on her shoulder "You're not the same girl from the desert, you've changed but that's okay, love." You tried to cheer her up. "Give yourself some time."
“You’re right, Y/N “ she gave you a sad smile. “I guess I’m no longer the same.”
Rey wished it was just that but no, she knew something was changing inside her, something colder. Something dark. Yet she hoped you were right and prayed to the Force that had nothing to do with what she saw in Ahch-To but soon her fears came true.
The night covered completely in shadows the Resistance base bringing with it nightmares and darkness. Rey found herself trapped inside the labyrinth of her own mind, running through endless corridors of memories. She saw her younger self screaming when she was left on Jakku all those years ago, she felt the same desperation running through her veins. In a blink of an eye she was in another place this time it was the island she used to dream of as a kid, Ahch-To. In the past the image of this lonely place in the middle of the ocean used to calm her and bring her hope but this time it only sent a shiver down her spine as her heart raced in horror, it was the last place she wanted to be in.
Coldness, she felt extremely cold, just like that distant day inside the cave beneath the island and just like in her memory she found herself standing in front of the mirror waiting for her dark side to appear. She waited, more scared with every passing second but no figure appeared in the dusty mirror.
The sound of a lightsaber turning on made Rey look over her shoulder only to meet that face she was expecting in the mirror, her own face, consumed by the darkness.
“My turn.” the woman in black cloak said before raising her red saber with a powerful hit towards the light.
Rey woke up holding a scream, heavy breathing and filled with panic. It took her a moment to realise she was not in the cave, not in Ahch-To but safe in the Resistance base, in her quarters. She only felt more calm when she spotted you lying next to her, your peaceful face and the way your chest rose and fell in a calm rhythm helped her to relax some more.
“It was just a dream.” she thought, she wished. Rey was used to nightmares, to restless nights staring at the ceiling. In the daylight things seemed to be alright, she felt in peace but in the night the pain of her past turned her mind into a scary place full of pain, doubt and hate. Rey spent the rest of the night trying no to fall asleep again, only observing you with adoration as you slept.
The strange feeling the nightmare had on Rey didn’t vanish when the sun came out as she hoped, it rather stayed in her the whole day, the coldness, the fear just didn’t go away but got stronger when she was training.
She was not focused, she was scared with every strange shadow she saw, maybe she imagined it but Rey could swear a pair of yellow eyes were following her. It frustrated her not to know what was going on, it made her angry.
Off balanced her.
Rey throwed her lightsaber at the distant shadow she thought she saw passing by, she didn’t realise her burning weapon landed in a fuel container cutting it open instantly and with the smallest spark, it burst into flames.
A laugh rumbled in the air.
“My turn.”
*****
On the mechanical bay of the base you sat humming as you repaired the spherical droid as Poe had asked you, you were good with droids and specially fixing BB-8, the rollie always seemed to be getting into trouble and you had to take care of him. And to be honest you really could use a distraction, Rey had nightmares at night, she didn’t tell you but you noticed it in her restless face and concerned eyes.
“Really?” you chuckled at BB stories of his spying mission. “Well, that Kaz sounds like a great kid, I hope I meet him some day.” The droid beeped in a happy tone.
You were happy to repair the droid and to laugh with his adventures but today your mind was totally focused on Rey, your poor girlfriend seemed to be disturbed, you wished you could know what was really going on.
"Do you think Rey's gonna be okay?" you murmured, fixing the last circular panel of the small droid. "Not gonna lie, buddy, she worries me. She's been acting strange since yesterday. Different."
BB’s comforting beeps made you relax just a little.
"You're right, BB, it must be the training.” you said. “It’s been a long week, besides Rey can be too hard on herself sometimes.” you finished the repairs on the droid. “There. Good as new, my little friend.”
The astromech rolled around beeping happily, you giggled with the view of it. A calm moment on the base like this was not as usual as you’d like it. Unfortunately the calm didn’t last long: a single explosion not far from where you were interrupted the moment and attracted the eyes of everyone around.
"What was that?" You asked, looking at the dense trail of smoke that rose above the tall trees of the base."BB-8, come on!”
Instantly you ran towards the fire, blaster in hand just in case. You didn’t know what had caused the explosion but your mind rushed to assume things and the only thing it could think about was the First Order, “They found us” you thought, after all the hiding and running they had found the base which could mean the end of the Resistance. But when you arrived at the place you froze.
It was a strange picture, the flames danced around the place, growing as they met the nearby wood, turning the always green jungle into an orange and pitch black tone. In the middle the fire was a man levitating in the air, his hands around his neck as he gasped for air, in front of him a shadow you recognized only for the three little buns on her head. Rey stood with her arm extended towards him. She was strangling him, you’ve only seen someone do that once, with the help of the dark side of the Force.
Soon enough there was at least half of the Resistance looking at the surreal scene, some of them already rushing to stop the fire before it consumed the entire place, yet nobody said anything at Rey, they were all speechless.
“Rey, stop!” you finally yelled watching how the poor man she was choking desperately gasped for air.
She turned to face you without losing the invisible grip on the man’s neck, but when your eyes met hers you felt goosebumps spreading all over your skin. It was not her anymore. Instead of her hazel eyes you found them burning like the flames behind her and a strange grin curved her lips.
A/N: So this is the very end of this series. Thank you all for taking the time for reading it and staying until the end. 💕💕✨
One year after the battle of Mustafar.
Dim lights slid through the big window casting shadows over your bare back that Rey had been contemplating in silence as you peacefully slept. You seemed so happy lying next to her, humming delicately in your sleep. Rey could never get enough of that sight that made her heart melt as a warm sensation spreaded through her body. Happiness, she liked to think. Love, in fact.
Rey brushed some strands of hairs out of your face to appreciate more of your pretty features, for her you were the most beautiful creature in this vast galaxy. Her gaze traveled from your face to your shoulders as her delicate fingers caressed your skin smiling at the sight of the little marks she had left over your skin the night before, a very passionate night.
However, the smile curving her lips disappeared when her eyes met the long scar that snaked down your naked back and the circular scar that matched the one below your ribs, the unerasable marks of the lightsaber, Rey’s saber. A painful reminder of her dark past, of how much she hurt you.
She regretted her actions, hated her past that she tried to leave behind so desperately, sometimes even hated herself too. No matter how many times you told her everything was fine now she refused to believe it, she couldn't. Not after all she had done. And those scars were proof of how dangerous she was. Rey didn’t want to be dangerous, not to you.
The feeling of her soft fingers tracing down the longer scar in your back woke you up and as your eyes fluttered open you looked over your shoulder to find Rey gazing down at you, the warm light of the early morning illuminating her soft features.
“Hi.” you mumbled, still sleepy but with a pleasant hum leaving your lips.
“Hi.” Rey greeted you. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you."
"It’s okay. I don't mind waking up to this view." You murmured with a soft grin over your sleepy face.
She smirked for a moment but you noticed how the smile seemed to hide something else, there was conflict in her hazel eyes but you didn't know why.
"Hey, it's everything alright, sunshine?" You asked, shifting in the bed to face her. "Rey, what is it?" You murmured confused. You looked at her propped on her elbow next to you, thinking. When her gaze met yours again she seemed calmed once again.
"I… " she said, struggling with her words a little. "Sometimes I think you're just a beautiful dream."
You smiled. "Well, you certainly are a dream come true, my love." You told her, earning a soft melodious chuckle that echoed through the room until it vanished in the air.
"Sometimes I don't get to understand," she said in a rather serious tone. "after everything I did to you, why are you still here?"
Rey had asked you this question so many times over the past year and your answer was always the same.
“You know why.” you told her smiling. You got closer to her placing a hand delicately over her the side of her face, Rey enjoyed the warm sensation of your warm palm against her cheek before carefully placing a kiss over your skin.
“Do I?” she said in a playful tone looking into your eye with such tenderness, her hazel eyes seemed warmer with the soft light of the early morning, those eyes that you completely adored, that were never yellow or cold again but full of hope and light. "Remind me again." She murmured with that beautiful smile of hers that drove you wild.
You chuckled before answering.
"Because I love you, Rey" you told her. No matter how many times Rey heard those words they made her heart beat faster every single time.
"I love you too, Y/N." She said leaning in to press a short yet sweet kiss over your lips. Then she went quiet for a moment, just observing you unable to believe you were really there with her after all that happened, after all you went through.
"Thank you." She finally murmured.
"For what?"
"For never giving up on me." Rey told you. "You were always there for me when I needed you the most, no matter what. When everyone else thought I was completely gone you still saw light inside me and even in my darkest days, in my lowest point you always loved me." She confessed with a surprisingly calm tone as she ran her fingers through your hair.
You listened to her words carefully, feeling every kind of sensation while she spoke from her heart
"I don't think I'd ever be able to repay you for everything you've done for me, my love, my light." She murmured looking into your eyes. Rey had spent all those years alone in the desert seeking something that was now in front of her, because when she looked into your eyes she could swear she was home.
"I can think in a few ways." you teased with a smirk. Shaking her head Rey laughed before leaning to capture your lips in a more passionate way. After all this time with Rey her kisses were still the sweetest, you were sure you would never get tired of her delicate lips brushing against yours.
"I'm really in love with you, Rey. And I think I'll always be." You murmured inches away from her lips.
"I'll love you until the last star dies." She mumbled. "And that's a promise."
Carefully you tuck a lock of Rey’s hair behind her ear, you took your time to admire her features, that soft smile of her that allowed her dimples to show into her cheeks, couldn’t resist to press a kiss over one of them before letting your gaze keep traveling up her face until you found her light brown eyes, her eyes reminded you just how long this journey had been for the two of you and you realized in every step her gaze always seemed to follow you around.
Light brown was her glance when you met her for the first time in the Resistance, she appeared in the doorway with her delicate white clothes to ask for help and without knowing, stole your heart.
Her eyes were cold more than once, unfortunately. You saw that deadly stare in her eyes for the first time in the woods, looking back at it, it seemed like it happened in another and way different life. Those cold eyes chased you for a long time, afraid of all the anger and pain they seemed to hold. Fearing that darkness that was growing inside Rey would exterminate all the light.
At some point you thought it did, Rey gave up completely to the darkest side of her turning into a complete stranger, turning her eyes to the color of the burning lava beneath the cold fortress that witnessed everything, the bad but even the good. It witnessed a love that bloomed in the dark.
And now, with the delicate light of the morning that slid through the window like the light that filtered through the leaves of the trees outside the small house her eyes were hazel, shimmering like hundreds of stars forming a beautiful hazel nebula with hints of green. Warm as the rising sun. You could stare into those eyes forever if you could, you felt grateful you would get to see them every morning for the rest of your life.
After all those battles, after all that pain you were sure you both had suffered enough, it was time for you to start over. The war was over but your lifes had just begun.

Summary: As Rey finds the Resistance base you're finally able to reach through the Force to help them and a new plan rises. What can go wrong?
Words: 4,335
A/N: I've been waiting a long time for this chapter, it has just a lot of things and hope you like it as much as I do. One last chapter to go after this!
Rey found them. She had found the Resistance hiding in a distant planet. And now she was going to destroy them.
You could still hearing her words in your head after Brandon’s interrogation, or rather after killing him .“It’s time I put an end to the rebellion.” she said.
“Rey, wait” you rushed to said “No, there must be another way, Brandon said they’re weak, honestly I don’t think they last much on their own, you don’t need to do this.”
“Yes, I do” she said. “Before they get stronger, I want them gone now” she added.
“They were your friends, Rey” you told her, you had to find a way to stop her from committing something you knew she would regret. “You control hundreds of systems now, let them go.”
“I can’t do that. As long as the Resistance exist there will be hope and hope is a very dangerous thing, you should know that, Y/N” she said. You stopped for a moment thinking, then you followed her again.
“Then I’m coming with you” you told her trying to keep the fast speed she was walking through the Fortress on her way to the big ship destroyer of your own home world.
“No” she said without even looking back at you “You’re staying here”
“I can’t just stay sitting here” you said as your thoughts started to mix in the back of your head. “I-I need to be there. Whatever happens”
Rey stopped and turned to finally met your eyes.
“You’re staying” she commanded in a very serious tone “It’s an order.”
“Take me with you I need to see it for myself” you begged
“No, Y/N stop asking me to do that, I can’t” she said, her hand traveling to rest softly over your cheek “I don’t want you to get hurt, if I take you there… I’m sure you will get hurt somehow.” she murmured with pure devotion on her hazel eyes “It’s a risk I’m not willing to take, so please stay here.”
“Rey…” you said but she cut you off.
“Please.” she murmured “I would never forget myself if anything happens to you. I love you, Y/N” she confessed. The effect those three little words had on you was bigger than you ever expected, the warm sensation washing over your body grew bigger with a look at her sincere features and the gentle touch of her hand on the side of your face.
Couldn’t help to smile at her as your heart kept racing faster and faster. You closed the short distance between your lips to pull her into a delicate kiss and when she wrapped her arms around you you felt your body melting under her touch. If only things were different, if she wasn’t about to kill your friends you would have told her just how much you loved her as well.
“Be careful, Rey” you murmured inches away from her lips as you pulled away.
“I will” she said taking one last gaze at you trying to memorize your features, your hair, your scent, your everything just in case. Then she finally let go off you and joined Hux in the ship
Then she was gone.
And as soon as the ship ghosted in the sky the thoughts in the back of your head started to get louder and it got worse when you got back inside the Fortress. It wouldn't take much for Rey to arrive where ever the Resistance was hiding, they were running out of time and it was imperative for you to help them.
Running through the endless halls you found yourself in the training room, sitting on the floor as Leia had once taught you.
"Put your mind at ease" you remembered the General saying "Find peace and you'll find the Force"
But how could you find peace when your mind was in conflict? When the destiny of the Resistance lied on your shoulders. When Rey's confession of love was still making your heart beat faster and at the same time images of the terrible things she had done kept playing on your mind, hunting you.
"Concentrate!" You murmured alone in the room and for your surprise a thousand voices seemed to scream your name, calling you. And with them there was Brandon repeating over and over again the same words.
You're a monster. Just like her.
Memories from his face choking under your power, his words and then his death. You felt again that seductive pull of the wrong side of the Force but instead of making you feel as powerful as it had before this time you felt guilty, every inch of your body regretting the actions you did, blinded by the anger.
You tried to keep this feelings from washing over you, tried to keep the new lump from growing in your throat. You took a deep breath, you needed to focus now or you were going to break down in a matter of second.
"I'm one with the Force, the Force is with me" you murmured trying to put your mind at ease. "I'm one with the Force, the Force is with me" you repeated just like General Organa taught you. You didn't know if it was working but it certainly kept the negative and toxic thoughts away from you.
"I'm one with-"
"Y/N?" You heard a very familiar voice.
"Finn" you smiled keeping your eyes closed "She's coming, you have to get them out of there now" you said.
"Wait what you mean?" He said.
"Finn, listen. Rey knows where you are, she's coming right now with a ship with enough power to destroy a planet" you said founding your voice surprisingly calm "Please, you have to run. She's already on her way"
There was a small silence and then your heard his voice again.
"Fine, I'll tell General Organa" he said "If you're right we don't have much time."
"Protect them, Finn. Hide somewhere and survive" you told him.
"I'll make sure of that, Y/N" you heard him say. "But what about you?"
"I'll be fine, don't worry about me" you assured him.
"No, you belong with us" he told you "We can't just leave you there" he went silent for a moment but through the Force your sense him thinking. "I have a plan." He said.
*****
Rey had sensed something was off even before leaving Mustafar, but decided to ignore the feeling taking it for insecurity, she knew some people in the Resistance, they used to be her friends after all so she pushed those ideas aside, convincing herself they all had only used to find Skywalker.
But now that the big ship was in position to shoot at the small, insignificant moon she sensed that feeling again, something was wrong but she didn’t know exactly what.
“Don’t fire.” she commanded.
“Supreme Leader, we are in position already.” Hux said confused looking at his boss “Besides, we don’t have of any patrol X-wing, they don’t know we are here. It is our chance to take them down.”
“No patrols, doesn’t it seem strange to you, General?” Rey asked still looking down at the small moon through the big window in the control room. “Land immediately” she ordered.
“Yes, Supreme Leader” Hux murmured as she start yelling orders to the people in the room while Rey walked towards the exit, preparing herself to see what was awaiting for her in this place.
The big ship landed gracefully and again there was not Resistance’s ship to be seen, no blasters trying to stop the stormtroopers from invading the base, it was like a ghost town.
Quiet. It was very quiet.
Hux ordered a few reconnaisse teams to scan the area while he and Supreme Leader Rey stayed close to the ship waiting for information, an attack, something that tell them why the Resistance wasn’t here.
“It’s empty, Sir” Informed a commander trooper “All of it. It seems they left on a rush taking only the ships with them. We’re searching what’s left behind, Supreme Leader.”
Rey was no happy about the news, she was frustrated staring around trying to found out why they left. When she scanned Brandon’s mind she saw this place filled with people walking from side to side, repairing X-wings, nothing unusual, this scape wasn’t planned, was it?
“We did found this” the trooper said handing a datapad to Rey who took it without saying a word but gesturing with her hand for the soldier to go.
Looking at the small device she analyzed some of the files it contained, blueprints for some ships nothing she hadn’t seen before, there were also a few enters report-like, it was an usual thing in the Resistance to write papers about missions, Rey never found it useful until now observing the last enter of the datapad:
We’re in danger, we must go now. General Organa started the evacuation plan, we’re moving to Location A, she hopes the First Order doesn’t find us there. There’s a last mission but I don’t have the full information, I just know something it’s gonna happen in Mustafar.
“What is it, Supreme Leader?” Hux asked observing the concerned way Rey was looking at the small device.
"I need to get back to Mustafar now" she murmured. "We're going now!" She yelled rushing back inside the ship.
There was something the Resistance had planned in the lava planet and the only thing she had on her mind in that moment was you. She was worried about you, regretting letting you behind and now, as she saw it, you were in an incredible danger.
Rey couldn't lose you, not again.
*****
Walking from side to side of the small corridor you tried to ease your nerves, they would be there any moment now, your friends Poe and Finn, they were going to rescue you from this dark place.
It was Finn's plan. While most of the First Order's fleet was away chasing the Resistance's empty base was the perfect moment to take you out, especially since Rey wasn't there. It was a risky plan and you weren't completely sure all this operation was worthy just to take you back to the rebellion but Finn insisted.
You were nervous the plan wouldn't work, nervous to see your friends after all this time, afraid of the questions you knew they were going to ask and feeling the strange sensation you were betraying Rey, you didn't wanted to leave her, not at all.
Then you finally saw the Millenium Falcon approaching the Fortress and you stepped into the control room, as planned.
“What’s happening?” you said in a cold, confident tone.
"Sir, good you're here." the man in the control panel said recognizing you, everybody in the base knew and obeyed the Supreme Leader’s apprentice. "We have a rebel ship asking for permission to land."
"Permission granted.” you said hoping you had enough authority over him.
"I-I can't do that” he said “My orders are not to let any ship in until the fleet is back and report immediately to General Hux in case something happen.” He said.
“I give the orders now.” you said getting close to him “Tell the ship to land” you commanded and the man’s eyes filled with fear but still he managed to speak again.
“I don’t take orders from you, I’m going to report immediately” he said.
Well, apparently you didn’t have enough power over them.
"You're gonna let them land." you said weaving your hand in front of him.
"I'm going to let them land." he said and then he pressed a button to speak with the pilot of the ship "Control here, you have permission to land on the main platform."
"You're not going to report this." you said using the mind tricks again and you heard him repeating your words. First part of the plan, completed.
You rushed down the hall to meet the legendary ship feeling nostalgic to see it after all this time, seemed like it was a very long time ago since Rey appeared asking you to help her fix it, seemed like all those days fixing together the Falcon passed in another and very different life. You knew the smile of the pilot the moment he looked in your direction, you heard the known voice of the man already stepping out of the ship when he fastly walked towards you.
"Y/N" Finn said pulling you into a tight hug. "It's good to see you" he murmured.
"I can say the same." you told him "It's been a while"
"How do you stand the heat here?" Poe said joining you on the platform.
"It's better inside," you chuckled letting go off Finn "way colder, actually."
"So, how long have you been here?” Poe asked “And why aren’t you in a cell? I mean, when Finn said we were going to rescue you, I thought on something different from this.”
You felt his gaze scanning your body from head to toe, your good condition, not a scratch on your body that was covered with the black clothes, his eyes focused on the First Order’s insignia adorning your left arm.
“I see we have a lot to catch up, huh?” he said with a reassuring grin, you felt the weight on your shoulders a little less heavier. “So, what’s next in your plan, Finn?” he asked looking at his partner.
“Y/N, you said there was something important in the base.” Finn said.
“Yes, more bad news. They have bombs in every planet they control.” you explained your friends “They’re gonna use it if the fleet gets damaged or if the people in the planets rebel against them”
You saw the terror invading their faces.
“All of them?” Poe said, frustration on his voice, even fear. “But they have hundreds of systems already.”
“You know how to stop it?” Finn asked you with hope in his eyes.
“The controls are here, I’ve seen them before but I don’t know how to deactivate them.” you told them remembering the small console Hux showed in the meeting and the controller that was a device just a bit bigger than a datapad. “But maybe we don’t need to, without the controller they can’t activate it.”
“Fine, we’ll take it to the Resistance, Admiral Statura will know how to shut it down.” Poe added agreeing with your plan nodding softly.
All of you smiled. It felt like before, like when you used to go on missions together and feeling you were really going to help the Resistance instead of just hide. But your smile faded away as a big known ship appeared in the sky and more after it, suddenly emerging in the sky as they disengaged hyperspace.
“This is bad” Finn said.
“She wasn’t supposed to come back yet” you told them looking at the big ship as it started its slow way to land in the hostile planet. From the cruiser you saw a smaller ship approaching, you recognized the Supreme Leader’s fighter.
“Now what?” Poe said, aware of the ship coming.
“She has her own landing platform in the other side of the Fortress, hopefully she won’t notice the Falcon” you told them “Keep the engines running, if I’m not here in ten minutes go without me” you said walking inside the cold Fortress.
“Wait, where are you going?” Finn stopped you grabbing your wrist.
“I need to get the controller” you said “I can’t let the same thing that happen to my planet repeat” you added.
“Then we’re coming with you” he said.
“No. If she sees you all of this would be for nothing” you told him.
“Same if you don’t come back with the controller” Poe said.
“Stay here, trust me in this one, guys” you begged and after a moment Finn let you go.
With a last half smile you got inside the place you knew like the palm of your hand after spending all that time inside it. Rushing through the known dark, glossy halls you hoped this plan to work because if not, well, the whole galaxy was in danger.
You found yourself smiling as your reached the last bridge before the meeting room, it was one of the many bridges of the Fortress that allowed to see the lava that flowed through all the planet surface and it was always somehow terrifying to see the bright colors of the burning lava beneath you. But you reached the end of the bridge safely, only to almost stumble with a familiar body.
"Rey." you gasped when you realized who was before you "You're back" you sighed pulling yourself together. "How? Are they…?" You asked as if you were affected by what happened to the Resistance.
"They weren't there" was the only thing she said before wrapping her arms around your body and pulling you close to her, maybe a little to close. You could feel the fear in her but limited to hug her back unsure of what was going on. "I'm so glad you're fine"
"What's happening, Rey?" You murmured lost in her embrace. She let go off you just enough to meet your gaze.
"The base was empty," she told you "but I found a note, it said they were coming here and I just…" she struggled with her words for a moment "I thought I was going to lose you, I was afraid of losing you."
You cupped the side of her face, delicately caressing her skin as the warm sensation filled you once again, she placed her hand on top of yours and gave you a love filled gaze that melted your heart.
Her words, by the contrary were bittersweet you. A mix of pure love that made your heart beat faster, her soft eyes begging you to stay and at the same time they hurt, why did she chose this exact time to tell you this? Why now that you were going to betray her? You wanted to stay with her, no, you wanted her to come with you, to follow you, but you were not sure she would do it.
Fast footsteps echoed through the halls that disconcerted Rey who followed the sound looking over your shoulder. Hey eyes turned a darker tone of brown, frowning when her eyes caught the unexpected intruders. Turning your head a little you found Finn and Poe frozen on the other side of the bridge, surprised with the scene before them.
“What are they doing here?” Rey hissed in a way too dangerous tone without taking her gaze away from them.
She stepped away focusing her eyes now on you. You wanted to say something, trying to explain but she had already figured everything out.
“It was you” she murmured unable to believe it “All of this was your plan, you just needed to get me out of the planet” she said with anger on her voice as her hand traveled to the heavy saber hanging on the belt around her hips.
“Rey, wait” you said trying to approach her but she kept slowly stepping back “that’s not what happened”
“After all we’ve been through” she said, her tone starting to get rather louder, almost like a scream “after all I’ve done for you, you still choosing them over me!”
Rey took the double bladed lightsaber and held it secure on her hand now, weighting it, ready to ignite it.
“I should have never trusted you” She murmured “You’re gonna leave me, just like everyone else.” she hissed and you noticed the lonely tear rolling down her face, only one tear filled with wrath, sorrow, pain.
Betrayal.
You saw her closing her eyes for a brief moment while the tear continued its way down her face, it seemed to have the last of the good inside her and when it dropped away from her features she opened them again and she ignited her sabers lighting her face with the red light of the dark side that let you meet a new pair of yellow eyes that stared at you with pure hate on them.
Your blood froze in the instant. You had only seen this side of her once and terrible things happened when she was like this, consumed by the dark.
A sensation, almost like a whisper made you back away just in time to dodge her first attack, the light sword whizzed too close to your face as you fastly moved backwards trying to save yourself from the deadly weapon Rey swing from side to side.
Without a weapon, you had no change to survive this.
“Y/N!” Finn yelled throwing a small piece of metal he took out of his belt, just before the heavy door behind Rey opened and stormtroopers filled the place, blasting immediately towards your friends.
The small metal piece landed on your hand gracefully and in the right moment to defend yourself from a new thrust from the red sabers that crashed against your blue lightsaber.
Rey stopped attacking for a moment looking you up and down, you were not a challenge to her, she knew it and you knew it too but still she grinned.
“This should be fun” she said smirking already circling her weapon around her with a skilled grace while you held your own saber in hand getting ready for the battle.
The lightsabers crashed with a loud sound, it had started. Rey and you moved almost in rhythm, attacking or dodging the sabers moved from side to side. Rey’s thrusts becoming harder and merciless forcing you to move back and without even noticing you were in the middle of the bridge, fighting for your life with the woman you loved the most but the only thing she seemed to want was to kill you.
“I’m disappointed, Y/N” she said when your sabers meet again, she was putting way too much strength pushing your own weapon extremely close to your neck and all you could do was try to hold it so it wouldn’t hurt you. “I saw true power in you but still afraid to use it.”
The blasters kept flying across the bridge and from the corner of your eyes you caught your friends firing their blasters at the troopers, they needed help but so you did. Then you met Rey’s eyes once again and felt a extreme cold that froze you to your very soul.
“You hurt me, YN” she growled “and now you’re gonna die for that” With that last words she swung her saber away from yours and the very next moment you felt a burning pain just below your ribs.
Everything seemed to stop, you didn't hear the blasters from the troopers, neither the voices of your friends calling your name, they seemed to fade away. The only thing you clearly saw and heard was Rey holding her weapon steady and as your eyes traveled down you found one of the red blades crossing your body.
She stabbed you, Rey stabbed you and was looking at you like she didn’t know who you were. The feeling seemed so familiar, you knew this would happen someday, all those nightmares were warnings that you decided to ignore, premonitions that now were real. Your worst fear, your ultimate terror came true.
The time returned to its normal course and you heard then the worried scream from your friends that were watching terrified from the other side of the bridge.
Rey was still holding her lightsaber in place took a good look at you, her feral expression suddenly seemed to change, she looked rather terrified and then her eyes changed back to normal when she realized what she had done to you, immediately turning off her saber.
She took a few steps back speechless but in agony. You took the change to extend your hand to send her flying back across the place, she hit the floor harder than you expected, falling unconscious.
Finn and Poe finally defeated all the soldiers in white armor and rushed to your side, worried about your safety.
"We have to go now" Finn said and with the pilot's help he started to drag you out of the place, you let go a small groan.
Your wound hurt more than any of your nightmares but not as much the fact that she actually did it, after all the times she told you she would never hurt you, after the promise she made you, now broken.
"No, wait!" You were barely able to say "w-we need the controller"
"We have to take you to a medic now" Poe said.
"Then we did this for nothing!" you murmured feeling the pain spreading through your body.
"Fine, I'll go find it" Finn told you "tell me what I'm looking for?"
"Looks like a datapad" you whispered
feeling your body dying with every word and every breath. "You'll know. Go." With a last tiny nod he was gone.
Dameron passed your arm around his shoulders as he held your waist to help you walk as much as possible.
"Almost there" he told you when he saw the Falcon, you felt yourself dizzy, felt your legs weak. "Come on, stay with me" he growled almost dragging you the last few feets to the ship.
Poe let you in the one of the soft beds of the ship.
"Y/N?" he asked concerned.
"Still here" you murmured "where's Finn?"
Just in that moment he stormed inside the ship.
"I got it!" Finn said "Poe, get us out of here now!" Kneeling beside you he patched you up with a bacta patch. "This will do for now, stay with us. We're going home, Y/N"
As the ship started to take off you felt your body giving to the dizziness as the pain in your body finally made you fall unconscious right before the ship enter to hyperspace on the road to the Resistance.
(In case you want to be tagged for specific things or everything I write, just let me know)
A/N: The final chapter it's finally here! It's long so brace yourself, I'll continue this author note at the end. Hope you enjoy it!!
Mustafar seemed more intimidating when viewed from afar, threatening. The bright lava of the always burning oceans and rivers seemed to shine even brighter compared with the dark emptiness of space and hotter than the closest sun. It was deadly place.
Outside the toxic athmopshire of Mustafar a fleet of at least five cruisers guarded the planet, forming on a line, ready to destroy anything that would try to pass through them.
It was a tired work for some of the soldiers in the First Order ship just to wait around with nothing else to do than look at the vast space before them. Yet following Supreme Leader’s orders they waited, and waited.
And waited.
Until a mysterious ship jumped out of hyperspace. Soon the soldiers, pilots and commanders inside the cruisers recognized the legendary corellian ship that appeared in front of them, accompanied by a few rebel's ships that started blasting as soon and sudden as they appeared.
"Blast them!" Commander Benndra yelled hearing a ‘Yes sir’ in response followed by the known sound of the big blasters of the ship. Walking fastly towards the console, Commander Benndra pushed a button activating an holo-communicator. Immediately a tiny blue figure formed and showed a woman whose face was hidden almost completely by the black robe. "Supreme Leader"
"What is it, Commander?" Rey hissed.
"You were right, they’re here." Benndra reported. "The ship known as The Millennium Falcon is leading a small fleet of Resistance ships."
The hologram of Rey seemed to smile thought it was rather a grin, a mischievously evil grin.
“They’re so predictable” Rey said. "I want every single one of those ships gone," she commanded "Except the Falcon, the controller must be there, so bring me that ship."
"Yes, Supreme Leader" Benndra said and as soon as the blue hologram disappeared she turned to look at the captain of the ship.
“Commander, they’re out of range for the cannons” the captain informed her. Through the big window she saw the rebel's ships retreating. “What do we do?”
"I want a full squad of TIE-fighters out there now!” she yelled with her eyes looking directly at the Falcon.”We can't let them escape."
The ships left the big cruisers at high-speed following the X-Wings that only leaded them more and more away. And while they were chasing them and blasting towards them nobody noticed the small ships that appeared away from the big ships that were already diving into the lava planet in complete silence.
The atmosphere was tensed and that tension only grew bigger as the suffocating heat of Mustafar surrounding you all inside the U-wing full of people. Everyone was nervous, this was a big deal and would meant the end of the galaxy if the plan go south.
"Alright, here we go.” you heard Poe’s voice over the commlink once you were close to the landing place, he sounded concentrated and serious as he leaded the ships to the safe area you talked to him about. “Blue 7, prepare to land behind those burned trees. We'll cover you."
"Copy, Blue Leader." the young pilot of the ship said, for the corner of your eyes you looked at the cockpit a few feets away, you saw him pulling some levers, everything was ready to land, it was only matter of time until you would had to jump out of this ship.
As the U-wing started it's way down to land you shifted over your seat. There was a hurricane of thoughts inside your head, it was weird to be back on this planet that held so many memories. Memories as cold as the dungeons under the Fortress where you spent many rotations crying in pain. And yet, there were warm memories of a soft burning love that bloomed somehow in this dark place. But there was also the memory of an even warmer fury as dangerous as the boiling lava of Mustafar.
You were afraid this plan wouldn't work out, there were many things that could go wrong. However, your mind was more afraid to meet those yellow eyes again. Rey would be there, you knew face her was a possibility but you hoped not to see her, it would make things way harder than they already were.
And though you felt hurt by her actions you still hoped she'd find the light again, there was still good inside her but there was too much darkness as well, maybe it was too late to get her back after all.
Finn watched the way your body tensed more and more as you got closer to the place.
"Everything's gonna be fine, Y/N." he told you. "This plan will work, I'm sure" Finn assured you and you wished your friend was right.
"Okay, it's time." Poe spoke again and the pilots and the small team of soldiers listener carefully to your leader's words."This for sure it's gonna be hard, we don't even know if would work but this is our only chance," he paused for a moment "and we're definitely not gonna waste it." He chuckled and you couldn't help but smile.
Blaster in hand and the controller in the small bag, you adjusted your lightsaber secure in your hip one last time, Finn insisted you to carry it just in case.
Sighing you got ready to get out of the ship and as soon as the ship was close to the dark surface the sliding door opened and the small team, formed of a handful rebels, jumped out of the U-wing and rushed to hide into the burned trees that were barely a cover but better than nothing. Only exchanging silently gazes and quiet gestures you moved closer to the Fortress.
Meanwhile, outside the planet the TIE-fighters kept chasing the small group of rebels. Commander Benndra smile grew bigger with every new fallen Resistance ship, there were a couple of them left and the Falcon it’d be just matter of time for her squad to blow it out, hopefully this target would win her a higher rank in the First Order. She was already savoring her victory when the rest of the Resistance fleet jumped out of hyperspace.
And so the battle of Mustafar begun.
"We're in." Finn informed Poe through the comlink once the whole team was safely inside the glossy halls of the First Order headquarters. "Moving to the main pane, now." After waiting for Poe to confirm he looked at you. "Y/N, lead the way."
Your eyes traveled from Finn to the rest of the team, even though they looked nervous they were ready to fight, ready to do whatever it'd take to bring this place to ashes. And as all the members of the Resistance, they had hope in their eyes.
"The controls are in one of the upper levels," you told them "they increased the security so it must be full of troopers. We have to be careful." The team nodded in response and after one last look at them you started your way through the labyrinth of halls you knew like the back of your hand.
The dark side was way stronger than before, you felt it and so did Finn. Something in the air around you just felt out of place, out of balance. The dark had risen consuming even the smallest sign of light in this big fortress.
Everything was going according to plan for both the fleet fighting against the First Order ships and your team getting closer to the target. Everything was going a little too good creating doubts in your mind, voices that seemed to whisper strange things to you.
When you turned around the corner, the small team found a whole battalion of stormtroopers that started to blast as soon as they noticed the team.
"Y/N, go!" Finn commanded you between shots. "We'll cover you!"
"We'll hold them down, get to the main panel now!" A fierce woman told you.
You rushed down the hall.
"Y/N" Finn yelled making you look back "May the force be with you" and with a last smile you left them behind.
Your footsteps echoed down the dark, empty hallway as you ran, them more you got closer to the control room you felt just how much the dark side of the Force had conquered this place, it felts colder than ever, the voices you once heard sounded louder confusing your thoughts. ‘Concentrate!’ you reminded to yourself, one more hall and you’d be in the control room.
The hallway leaded to a big empty room adorned with big columns and a window that showed the dangerous lava burning outside the building. You stopped by the sound of a familiar voice, immediately searching for a place to hide.
“The rebels found a way in.” General Hux informed as he walked with his hands behind his hands as always. “A small group is fighting in level four, among them is the deserter trooper FN-2187.”
“I see we underestimated the Resistance” Rey’s voice came to your ears unexpected, forming goosebumps all over your skin. “Tell Commander Benndra to forget about the Falcon, she has permission to destroy the whole fleet. The controller is here, they’re trying to get it to the main panel.”
“What about the rebels in level four?” Hux asked.
“I’ll take care of it myself.” she said. From your hiding spot you saw Hux walking out of the big room leaving Rey alone for a quick moment concentrating on the rumour dancing in the air and the feeling of someone watching her.
"It can't be." she murmured turning to look over her shoulders making you flinch. She felt your presence in the Force, she knew you were there maybe since the moment you put a foot in the planet but couldn't believe it until now, so clear, so close.
There was no way you could hide anymore, and though facing her was the very last thing you needed right now, you didn't had much of an option. There was only one way to the control room and it was through her. Sighing you stepped outside your poor hiding spot behind one of the big columns.
Your name fell from her lips almost like gasp when she saw you, unable to believe her eyes, refusing to meet yours.
"You’re alive.” she mumbled with confusion over her face, she was speechless, just like you standing in the other side of the room.
"Kill her now!" The voices screamed at Rey who couldn't do anything else than look at you. "She's a liar, she will only hurt you again. She's here to destroy everything you've worked for, she brought the enemy with her, she is the enemy." They whispered convincing her confused mind. "Kill her!"
Anger over took her features as her eyes seemed to become even darker, shading the yellow with red. Rey started to walk dangerously slow towards you.
“You were lucky your little friends were here to help you last time,” Rey growled as her hands reached the double sided lightsaber on her hips “but it's just us now.” she turned on her weapon that lighted her face with a bright red light.
Fear spreaded all over your body for a moment watching the saber that once hurt you and thought on escape before she could do it again. However that was a thing you couldn't do, no if you were planning on help the galaxy. This was beyond yourself, you had to do whatever it'd take to save them, even if that meant fighting the woman you loved.
"I don't want to do this, Rey." You spoke for the very first time since the incident in the bridge, searching for your own lightsaber. "But I have to, I can’t let you win and take the whole galaxy down with you.” you held the saber in your hands but didn't power it up. "Please, listen. You can stop this war now and prevent more people from dying. I know you don't want this, I know you, Rey." You told her.
She was the first to attack, forcing you to ignite your weapon to protect yourself from her own.
"You know nothing about me." She grumbled attacking again. "I'm going to finish what I started, I'm going to end with you once and for all." She said already rising her saber again.
Moving around you managed to dodge some of her mortal attacks you discovered how much she had changed from your last battle against her, Rey was stronger, faster, merciless. Guided by the darkest side of the force, too driven by her emotions.
Panting you tried your very best to hold her accelerated rhythm, swinging your lightsaber desperately from side to side in a pitiful intend to survive while she thrusted over and over again and with a swift move she suddenly had her arms around you and her weapon holding your arms from moving and holding your back close to her chest.
"That's seriously all you got?" She whispered close to your ear, a grin over her features. "No doubt why I defeated you last time, always playing by the rules."
She always told you to let your emotions give you, use them in your favor, so you gave in to the growing anger in you, you threw your head back managing to hit her face and free yourself from her grip.
Rey backed off in pain for a moment, she took a hand to her face founding a small cut on her lips that left a trace of her own blood on her fingers.
“Not bad, I trained you well after all.” she said admiring the red liquid on her fingers before looking at you mischievous. “But you’re gonna regret that.”
Rey spinned the double sided weapon hitting against your saber aggressively. With all your strength you held her attack feeling the strong pull between the lightsabers close to each other. Rey's lips curved into a wicked smile, enjoying watching you struggling to hold the saber you meet her eyes then, painted with the colors of the wrath and yet there were not sentiments at all in her eyes, not emotions but a terrified coldness, even lifeless they were just empty shells, that was what she had become.
“I gave you too many chances to join me but you betrayed me, and betrayed me again… and again.” she hissed “It’s enough!”
“You’re right” you growled “It’s enough, Rey” putting your whole strength in one powerful thrust you managed to make her step back, taking the chance you rushed to the other side of the room but not fast enough. The bare tip of one side of her lightsaber reached your back making you cry in pain as the burning weapon traced figures over your back, dreadfully cauterizing your skin. It was just a scratch, yet it was the most painful one you had ever got. It took you a moment to recover from it, whimpering in the cold floor of the fortress.
Her lightsaber also cut the bag that contained the reprogramated controller that fell to the dark floor with a thud.
From the corner of your eyes you caught Rey coming closer, taking her time to contemplate your agony, her features filling with anger and you could swear you heard voices telling her to end you.
“Oh, Y/N” she started slowly circling around you“You really did hurt me, you hurt me more than anyone have had before” her face was consumed by the anger, she looked like the death herself in her black robes. “You lied to me.” she grumbled “You betrayed me!”
“I did. And I’m sorry.” you told her getting back on your feet “I did some mistakes, I know but I had to. I had to save them from you.” you said, attracting your lightsaber back to your hand with the Force, ready to fight again if it was necessary. “I have to save them.”
Rey’s features seemed to relax for an instant as her expression changed from anger to something close to sadness, hurt crossed her face when she met your eyes.
“You said you love me” she murmured barely audible. Her words took you by surprise for a moment. How could she doubt a thing like that, when you had loved her more than any other person. When you never stopping searching for her and when you stayed with her even when she had became a monster.
“I do” you told her, her eyes widen, it was not the answer she was expecting “I love you, Rey. Since the first day you came into my life, I love you” you added meaning every single word “And I’m tired of this, I’m tired of fighting and I’m sick of this war.”
Your gaze met hers for a moment wishing to see her smile at least one more time as your mind remembered the day you met her, the way she had hope in her eyes. She was still there somewhere inside this yellow eyed woman.
“I don’t want to hurt you, not anymore.” you announced her turning your lightsaber off and throwing it aside “I’m not going to fight you, Rey. So if you’re gonna kill me do it now. I prefer dying than see the First Order ruling over the galaxy. Than seeing you like this, this is not you, Rey.”
“Stop it!” she growled pointing her weapon in your direction, but her words were meant for the voices in her head more than for you.
“She’s lying. You have to destroy her now. Kill her!”
Confusion invaded her head. The voices of the Sith kept telling her to destroy you, to end with you as they reminded her just how much you had hurt her… but the other side of her, the small beacon of light deep inside her told her not to, it told her to trust you assuring her you loved her just as much as she loved you. There was a chaos inside her that was turning her apart.
“Kill her!”
So she obeyed swinging her saber one more time and you closed your eyes already accepting this was the end.
But nothing happened.
Opening your eyes you found the blade of light inches away from your face and a conflicted Rey, with tears on her eyes, observing you.
Rey scanned every small detail of your face, from your messy battle hair to your lips remembering the sweetness of them and back to your eyes, where she stopped hypnotized by the way they shined when you looked at her and suddenly she realized she almost extinguished the light in them, she almost killed you… again. She remembered the terrible emptiness she felt without you by her side. She didn’t want a life without you in it, she didn’t want to hurt you, she wanted to protect you, but she feared the grip of the darkness on her was too strong.
“It’s too late.” Rey mumbled with sorrow in her voice.“Soon the Resistance will be gone, your friends are in danger.”
“It’s never too late, Rey,” you said “Never.” she powered off her lightsaber letting you finally step closer to her. Doubting you placed your hand on the side of her face while she cried in silence.
“I’m sorry” Rey sobbed “I should have stop this mess before, I should have never trust in the dark side but it seemed so easy” she regretted “If I hadn’t left the Resistance none of this would have happened.”
She didn’t protest when you pulled her into a hug, she only held you tighter in her arms burying her face in the curve of your neck.
"I'm sorry, there was no other option.”
"There's always other option." You murmured. "It's up to you to have the courage to chose it."
She tilted her head up a little to gaze into your eyes.
"Then I want to end this war now." she said. "I lost you once, I'm not going to let anything happen to you. I will keep my promise this time.
A soft smile formed over your lips but immediately faded away by the sound of your comlink.
"Y/N" you heard Finn's voice coming from the small devise in the bag laying on the floor. You let go of Rey to grab it. "Are you there?"
"Finn, what's going on?" You asked taking the comlink.
"Really bad, they're sending reinforcement soon, we don't know how much longer we can hold them" he said and you heard the endless rain of blasters in the back. "The fleet needs help, you gotta hurry." You exchanged gazes with Rey before answering.
"Go. Get out of here" you told him "Get Blue squadron to pick you up, I'll take it from here."
"No, we can't leave-"
"Finn, trust me." You told him and after a quiet moment he spoke again. "Go help the fleet they need you and Poe out there."
"Fine, but we'll get back for you." He said. "Good luck." Then he hanged the call.
Carefully picking up the datapad from the floor Rey handed it to you just as the call ended.
"Let's end this stupid war" she told you and with a last smile you both rushed down the hall, unaware of the eyes of the intruder spying in a dark corner of the room, the eyes of a man that would do anything to gain power, secretly commanding a much stronger kind of soldiers to prevent the rebel and the now traitor Supreme Leader from reaching the control room.
Rey and you stopped in front of a big metal door, the last one before the control room. You were so close to the victory, so close to be finally free, so close to be with her again. It seemed unbelievable how a few minutes you were willing to kill each other but now you were standing side by side waiting for the door to open, it seemed like the old times when you both were sent to small missions, way before she went to Ahch-to to train, before losing her, before all this war. The sight of her calmed you down, and though her was were still tainted with darkness you found tenderness on them, you found love on them.
The sound of heavy footsteps made you flinch and looking over your shoulder you saw a group of unexpected masked warriors coming your way. You recognized their helmets the moment you saw them, knew the group of shadows you had have only seen a few times around the Fortress, often serving as Rey's personal guards and other times in battle ending whatever came their way they were more than trained, knew exactly who they were.
The Knights of Ren.
"Y/N, behind me!" Rey yelled immediately turning her weapon on as the Knights were already sending their first attack that Rey fastly stopped.
The lightsaber in your hand illuminated the room as you got ready to fight again, this time with Rey by your side. Both of you observed how they got dangerously closer you but the scavenger had a different plan in mind.
As soon as the big, heavy blast door finally opened she looked at you.
"Go to the control room" she told you concentrated. "I'll handle this."
“No way. They’re too many” you said "I’m not letting you alone”
“This is my fault, all of it." Rey said meaning her words "Now it’s time I pay for my actions”
“No, I'm not gonna- “
She looked at you in the eye, begging you to let her do it. She had hope again on the eyes and light.
“Please, you have to let me make this right” she told you and before you had time to say a thing she used the Force pushing you backwards and closing the heavy metal doors as soon as you were in the other side.
"No!" You screamed hitting the heavy door. "Rey… " you mumbled feeling the lump forming in your throat. You had just got her back, you couldn't lose her again. However there was no time left, you had to get back to the plan otherwise the galaxy would died. So you forced yourself to keep going, trusting Rey would be alright.
Eventually you made it to the control room and rushed to connect the reprogrammed controller to the main panel. After tapping some buttons the codes inside the datapad started to work, just as Admiral Statura said it would. It would be a matter of time until you could properly deactivate the bombs hopefully forever.
"Well, I have to admit you're not as foolish as I thought." you heard a familiar voice saying.
"Hux" you murmured turning to meet his gaze, founding a blaster in the way.
"And yet, you’ve made the most unintelligent decision by coming back here” he said with a satisfied grin over his face “I certainly have to thank you, Y/N. You brought the Resistance to us, after all.”
“You already lost.” you hissed. Hux chuckled taking a step closer.
“Naive girl, if someone it’s going to lose today, it’s not gonna be us” he told you. “You’re outnumbered, your pathetic fleet it’s going to fall any time now and with that the First Order will finally rule over the galaxy. Congratulations.”
You stared at him with hate, he was a man you disliked since the very first time you met him, someone who you couldn't trust. The real mind behind this whole plan.
You were about to turn on your lightsaber when he shot his blaster aiming to your arm making you drop the weapon in the instant. He rose his voice again, confident of his words.
“I wouldn’t do such stupid thing again.” he warned while you struggled with the pain spreading through your arm. “Now, stop that device.” he ordered threatening you with the blaster in his hand.
“I can’t.” you declared still looking at him in anger.
“You don’t know how to, do you?” he concluded with a smirk. “Then I’m afraid you’re not useful to me. Guess you are indeed foolish after all.” he savored his victory for a moment. “Goodbye, scum.”
General Hux’s eyes widen in surprise as the burning blade crossed his body, a red lightsaber that pierced his body from the back to his chest right across his heart. There was fear on Hux features before the saber turned off and he fell lifeless to the floor revealing the owner of the weapon, Rey was standing there.
“You alright?” she rushed to ask, her eyes focused on the wound of your arm.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” you assured her. “The knights-”
“They’re gone.” she told you. “It’s done?” she said pointing at the datapad on the control panel. You pulled a few levers and when you pressed the last button the little screen showed a message.
Phase Two. Deactivated. System shutted down.
Rey smiled at you reading the message over the screen. You took the comlink.
“It’s done.” you said through the communicator.
“About time.” you heard Poe’s voice.
“We’re leaving now. Poe, get us a ship and blow this thing as soon as we’re outside.” you added already walking down the dark halls with Rey by your side.
“We?” Poe asked confused.
“Yes, we. Now get ready!” you said as you kept running towards the exit.
The battle out planet wasn’t as well as planned, the Resistance ships were old compared with the ones of the First Order, however the rebel pilots knew how to use their ships. They were running out of options, that was when Poe came with the idea to use the last bomber to destroy the enemy’s fleet. He just hoped it would work now that you had deactivated the bombs in the planets.
You were a few feets away from the exit of the Fortress when you noticed Rey was not longer running with you, she was rather just standing there in the middle of the hall looking at the floor.
“Rey, come on! This thing’s gonna exploit” you advised her.
“I can’t go back to the Resistance ” Rey spilled full of guilt .“Not after what I’ve done.”
“Nonsense! Come on!” you said taking her wrist and trying to pull her towards the exit but she released from your grip.
“I abandoned the Resistance when they most needed help. I’ve done terrible things to them, I’ve killed many of them. And worst of all, I’ve hurt you, Y/N. ” her voice cracked filled with pain and regret, pure regret. “I can't just show up and pretend nothing ever happened.” you more than anyone knew that feeling, you had been in the same situation a few days ago. Sighing you rose your voice.
“There are going to be consequences,” you murmured “That’s something you can’t avoid, and sure it’s not gonna be easy” softly you placed a hand on the curve of her face, carefully tilting her face to make her look at you “but whatever it is we’ll face it together, I promise. I love you Rey, please come with me.” you pleaded.
Rey doubted for a moment, it was too much process, she had caused much pain to the galaxy and yet all she wanted was to go with you, whatever place it was as long as it was with you she would follow. She had to keep her promise.
She nodded softly “Okay” she murmured.
With that last word she took your hand and both of you hurried to get out of that dark place that had witnessed the rise and fall of the dark side and after a long time was going to finally fall.
The Falcon was already waiting for you, on the ramp you saw a familiar face extending a friendly hand to help you get inside. Finn was surprised when she found Rey running with you and though he was confused he was glad to know you both were fine. Finn and Rey exchanged gazes, your friend gave her a soft understanding smile while softly nodding, if someone knew how it felt to leave behind the First Order it was him. Once the ramp was closed the Falcon speeded up.
“Poe, now!” Finn yelled through his communicator. From the ship you saw the Fortress explode, sinking into the burning lava that consumed it all turning it into a strange landscape of melted rock. As it melted you felt weightless, the big weight in your shoulders was finally gone, the tensed atmosphere faded away. The voices inside Rey’s head banished too. There was peace.
Balance.
Moving around the Falcon filled with people you felt their eyes staring at you, staring at Rey, they were no happy to see her here and yet nobody said anything.
Once the ship was off the toxic atmosphere of Mustafar you realized there were only remains of the defeated cruisers of the First Order. Poe's plan had worked.
“It’s over” you heard Dameron's voice sounding through the comlink in the ship. He chuckled. “My friends, we won!” he said enthusiastic “We won!” he repeated and you heard the rest of the pilots along with the people in the ship laughing, some of them crying.
It was over.
The war, the endless battles were finally over. All of them were finally safe, finally in peace. The galaxy was safe, ready to start over and so you were.
With all that had happened you couldn't contain the tears pooling in your eyes and the chills spreading over your body. You looked at Finn and wrapped your arms around him as a celebration. He was always there when you needed him most.
Then you turned to Rey all alone watching you from the distance. She gave you a shy smile that melted your heart, carefully pulling her into your embrace you held her close to your body and she held you being careful not to hurt you. The closeness of your body made her own eyes fill with tears that didn't take long to fall over her face.
You backed away just enough to look at her soft features, you found yourself thinking about your journey with Rey it was a long one. From meeting back in the Resistance, to found her in the dark side, to the memories of Mustafar.
Your heart raced when you looked into her eyes only then you noticed her eyes were hazel again, not yellow, softly shining brighter than ever finally free of the grasp of the dark, you were right all along, there was light in her. 'What now?' you asked yourself, sure there were going to be new challenges for both Rey and you but you didn’t worry about it, you had her and that was more than you could had ever ask for.
Leaning in you captured her lips into a soft kiss, you kissed her sweetly, lovingly, enjoying her every move. You were finally together again.
Just when the Falcon jumped into hyperspace you thought of the possibility of a future with Rey, it wouldn't be easy and you knew the darkness would try to come back but you would make sure to make it go away. You broke away and smiled at her, you were willing to take any future as long as you had Rey by your side and you hoped it would be the will of the Force. You hoped for a brighter life, a life full of love, full of life, full of her.

A/N: I ended up cutting the chapter to make two. So here it is, I really hope you enjoy it and really appreciate all the love you've been giving to this little thing. Have a great day!
Rey woke up whispering your name, softly, barely audible she kept calling your name as she started to recover consciousness. Light-headed, Rey forced herself to stand, looking in the direction of the bridge so desperate to find you
Panic rushed through her body as she found an empty bridge and the memories from the last fight came to her. Rey remembered only flashes of the events, painful images she wished where only the effect of the big hit that knocked her down. It couldn’t be real, could it?
“Supreme Leader” a stormtrooper approached, a new full battalion behind him. Reinforcement that arrived too late.
“Where is she?” Rey asked.
“Sir, the rebel ship escape a few minutes ago.” he reported.
“Where is she?” She repeated starting to get annoyed, she wanted to know where were you, if you left her or stayed. If you were alive.
“We saw one of the rebels carrying a body.” he said but his voice sounded suddenly distant to Rey and instead a new, unknown voice seemed to whisper in her ears.
“You killed her” the old male voice said “She’s gone now.”
Blinking Rey seemed to remember fighting against you, she remembered your friends screaming your name. Then she saw your surprised face and saw herself holding the weapon that crossed your body.
“You killed her” the voice chuckled in the distance. Rey’s eyes scanned the room searching for voice but there was no one aside from the soldiers in white helmets yet she heard the voice so clear, she sensed it so dark.
“Sir, are you okay?” The trooper asked seeing the state of confusion Rey was in.
“Yes, I need to-” but just as she started to give orders to her troops a thousand of voices screamed inside her head. "I need to go now." And with that last words she hurried to left that place following the urge to find the origin of the voices.
Rey rushed through the fortress chased by the thousand unknown and yet familiar voices screaming at her, confusing her, guiding her, calling her to the dark. The screams and whispers grew bigger as she came closer to the training room, a training room that was once a Sith temple and was now claiming her as one of them.
"Welcome, Rey" they seemed to whisper when she arrived to the room. "Finally"
"Who are you?" She said and her voice echoed through the dark room "You know us" they said. "What happened to, Y/N?" Rey tried her best to stay strong but the people laughing in her head made her feel weak, the thought of losing you suddenly invaded her and her lips trembled even though she pressed them together as her eyes watered flastly.
"Oh, poor child. You don't remember" it was a woman this time who spoke in a calmly dangerous way.
Rey rushed to answer, still looking around convinced she would found somehow the owners of the voices around her. "I do, they took her away."
"They took her body away, kid. The girl was already dead."
“No!“ she cried as the tears started to pool in her eyes, quickly falling down her face, however she kept serious. "No, I can't be. How did it happen?" She hissed for answer, her voice slightly cracking.
The old man rose his voice again "You killed her." And as he spoke, the images of the moment she stabbed you came to her memory and hit her harder than a blaster.
Rey's heart had been broken many times throughout her life, forcing her to carry a constant pain and causing an void that couldn't be filled.
Her little innocent heart broke when she was left alone in Jakku as a child, aching every night crying herself to sleep. It cracked the day she learned the truth she long time knew but refused to believe about her parents, but nothing could compare with the pain that grew inside her now, feeling as if her heart was being ripped out of her chest, feeling her every cell dying in agony knowing you were dead, knowing she was the one who had killed you.
And as the tears blurred her vision the Sith whispered one more time, many of them at the time only confusing her even more.
"You killed her. She deserved it. She’s dead. She was a traitor" was some of the things Rey could hear. "She never loved you, she only used you, betrayed you."
Rey was in a terrible pain, feeling more than she would like to. She was afraid of herselt now more than ever, she hated herself for hurting you. And with all those emotions burning inside her it was the perfect moment for the darkness to offer her a cure for all that sorrow, to drag her even deeper into the dark side of the Force.
“It was the Resistance” the Sith lords from other times murmured “All of this mess is their fault. They convinced Y/N to make you fall for her, to find Skywalker and to destroy the First Order from inside.”
“No, she would never-” Rey murmured and her voice cracked, refusing to believe something she thought since the beginning and those exact words Rey had told you the very first day she brought you to the fortress.
“She did. You always knew this was all an act, allowed the light to convince you otherwise but you always knew the truth.”
The girl was blinded by the sudden doubt that grew on her, wondering if anything was ever real. Were your words just another lie to make her guard down? Had you really meant those soft kisses that confronted her when she most needed? Did those nights with her even meant something to you?. Rey knew the answer, an answer the Sith whispered in her ears. “No, she never loved you.”
“Tell me” she begged “what I should do now? how do I stop this pain inside me?” she sobbed.
“You know what you have to do, Rey.”
“Tell me.” she repeated. Rey looked so small so fragile in the middle of the room once again begging for answers, just like she used to when she was a poor girl alone in a planet with nothing more than sand and bad people. She looked just like a child, so helpless and yet she had the look of a survivor that had went through enough to know it was time to rise for herself.
“Destroy the Resistance. Destroy them and the galaxy will be finally yours as it meant to be.” the old voice of the emperor spoke for all the Sith.
“I will, then.” Rey said, this time her voice sounded firm, confident of her mission and purpose in the galaxy. She realized every moment of her life was preparing her for this, making her stronger, tougher. Rey had been fighting against the darkness for so long, never giving in completely to it but it was time to surrender to the dark inside her entirely.
Her body felt numb as she concentrated in the pain and anger inside her before feeling the seductive pull of the dark, feeling the power of a thousand generation of Sith in her veins spreading like electricity through her body so much she felt the tips of her fingers tickling it could shot lightning through them.
She observed her hand for a moment noticing the sparks dancing on her fingertips, the tears of her eyes disappeared as a mischievous grin curled her lips. And with a sift move of her hand she aimed to an ancient stone column that was destroyed immediately by the lightning that left her fingers. Powerful, she felt unstoppable ready to end this war.
Her eyes tinted yellow, slightly red, a reflection of the lava burning beneath the Fortress, the colors of the Sith. A wicked smirk formed over her face, feeling better than ever. She left the room with the whispers behind her.
“Rise, Rey, Dark Lady of the Sith.”
******
The image of an specific yellow eyes getting closer and the ultimate feeling of a great dark power setting free haunted you in your sleep. An urge to run as far as possible away from that darkens grew on your body and panic rushed through you as your dreams revealed Rey in the middle of the training room, tears were replaced with a devilish smirk. She had fallen completely, giving in totally to the darkest side of herself.
You saw her spinning her lightsaber before aiming towards your body, the action dragged you out of your sleep abruptly and as your eyes snapped open you found yourself in a strange place, feeling the pain below your ribs just like you had some many times before after a nightmare, except this time it was not just another bad dream.
"Easy there, easy." Finn murmured stopping you from getting out of the small bed in the medical bay. And observing out your hands wandered over your patched wound.
Sighing you allow yourself to lie down, and tried to contain the tears from falling as you remembered Rey's lightsaber stabbing your body.
"Where are we?”panting you said .
“Ajan-Kloss, new base. We’re safe, Y/N.” Finn told you making you feel a little better, a bit more secure.
“How long was I asleep?" You murmured.
"A day" he said. "I know how it feels to wake up in a strange place after a battle, take your time. You did give her a battle.".
A day. You spent a whole day asleep in here. So many things could happen in a day, good or bad, everything could change in a single day. Being that much time asleep felt life is you were missing important things, what happened in Mustafar? To the controller? To the bombs planted in the colonies? Had they already figure out a plan to defeat the First Order? were some of the questions echoing in the back of your head and yet there was another one that seemed to sound louder. What happened to Rey?
Thought the side of your body was still hurting, you wanted to move on, to help the Resistance now for real.
"The controller?" you rushed to ask Finn.
"Admiral Statura’s still working on it. We'll make a strategy as soon as he knows something.”
He stared at you, first his eyes lied over your patched wound hidden beneath the grey simple shirt covering your body, then he met your gaze just for a moment before looking down at the floor. He had questions you sensed it, maybe more question than you had, you understood him. He hadn’t see you in a very long time and just yesterday he saw you in a First Order’s uniform.
You were not sure if you were ready to answer his questions.
"What is it, Finn?” you told him.
“I’m glad you’re back.” he said, winning a small smile from you.
“But…?” you encouraged him to speak his mind, you knew there was something else than just that.
“I… I have so many questions, there are things I don’t understand.” he finally said, there was pure doubt in his eyes and confusion. “I mean, I saw Rey, back in the woods, completely ready to kill you, I’ve seen her in action killing our friends without a second guessing and I saw her… “
Finn’s eyes went to the floor once again, searching for the right way to say it. You knew what he meant, he saw her stabbing you.
"... I saw her hurting you. All those times I saw anger in her eyes.” he murmured avoiding your eyes completely. He sighed before looking directly at you “But when she was holding you in Mustafar, there was something different.” he paused, as if he was unsure of his words.
“What you saw then?” you asked, intrigued.
“Peace.” he told you. “There was peace in her eyes, and light… and love.”
It was you this time who looked away, his words felt like a dagger in your aching heart. You had seen that way closer than him, you’ve seen the anger and pain in her as well as the light, as well as the love or so you thought.
“I’ve been wondering, why didn’t she kill you. At first I thought it was because she needed an apprentice but I think now, after seeing you in Mustafar, I know the truth” he added “She loves you, Y/N”
“I don’t know anymore, Finn” you murmured “I want to believe that she does but… she has done so many things that say otherwise.”
“And what about you? You love her?” He questioned.
“Yes.” you mumbled. You watched him nodding softly.
A familiar pilot stepped into the room, he seemed worried, stressed, the usual confident smirk wasn't adorning his face.
"Emergency meeting, General Organa wants everyone in the strategy room." Poe said as he was closer to Finn, then his eyes met you. "You should come too."
"I'll be there" you agreed.
"Good to have you back." he finally gave you a slight but playful smile before rushing out of the room.
Few minutes later you walked by Finn's side through the underground old base, the tunnels-like hallways were filled with people in orange pilot suits and grey jumpsuits with the signature of the Resistance and for a moment you felt home, felt like the old times but clearly everything changed from the last time you were around.
As you walked you could feel the eyes of many people lying over you, unknown rebels looking at you with doubt, hated and even fear that made a young woman jump out of your way. There were others whispering hurting words, rumours about you. You heard them calling you a deserter, a liar, a traitor.
You tried your best to ignore them, but words can hurt more than a real wound.
Finally you arrived to the room filled with people that murmured as soon as they saw you step inside, wearing the black clothes of the First Order, the only thing that wasn't part of the uniform was the grey shirt with the flame of the Resistance.
By the table you caught the General who greeted you with an approval nod and a soft smile. Then the meeting started.
“We all know the advancement of the First Order over many systems,” Poe spoke as the blue hologram showed the image of one of the planets with a cannon. “Well, it got worse” he said as a collective gasp filled the room. “Recently we found out the whole galaxy is in a great danger, the First Order installed cannons on their colonies.”
“Fortunately, the most recent mission was lucky enough to obtain this controller, without it they won't be able to activate the bombs, for now.” Admiral Statura added. “I've analysed the device and generated a code that would deactivate the cannons once and for all" he said and then he looked directly at Leia's direction “but it has to be connected to the central panel of control."
“Could be a problem right now.” Poe said leaning over the holo table. “The Supreme Leader ordered a blockade in Mustafar."
There were a few murmurs, you saw some people's faces filling with sorrow and disappointment, giving up, losing hope.
"So? We just have to get the datapad there." Finn rose his voice, confident as always. "What are we waiting for?",
"Kid, there's a whole blockade of cruisers that can destroy planets, our ships don't stand a chance." An old grumpy man said.
"We've done it before" Finn added. "We just need a distraction, drag their attention away so a small squadron can get to the planet. We connect controller at the main panel and it's done."
There was a grin dancing on Finn's lips, you admired how much of a good strategist he had become, a good leader to follow. You couldn't help but smile at his idea.
"It's not gonna be easy." The other man said.
"Nothing worthy is ever easy" your friend said.
"But what if it doesn't work? This plan can cost us many lives." An admiral growled.
Leia's tired but hope filled eyes searched for you across the table.
“Y/N, you know this place better than anyone." She spoke in a calm confident way. "s this plan possible?” feeling the entire room looking at you you sighed before raising your voice.
“Could work.” you confirmed “There’ll searching for the Falcon, guess that can be our distraction." You said, you knew Rey would try to destroy that ship first, just out of rage. "If we manage to past we can't land directly on the Fortress, there'll be troops guarding every angar. So we would have to get to the Fortress on feet."
"But how are we gonna know where is the control panel?" Rose asked, already supporting the plan. From the other corner of the table you saw Leia giving you a gentle smile.
"I can guide a team through the place." you said knowing how they were going to react, with murmurs and exchanged glances as they soon started to discuss how and why the Resistance could not trust you, not after being so much time with the enemy, not after hearing so many rumours of you becoming Rey's apprentice and so much more. You were a traitor and nothing else for them.
And through the chaos of voices sounding at the same time, you decided to speak up.
“I know you don't trust me," you started "you have no reason to. I know some of you consider me a coward, a deserter or a traitor." The people looked at you as your voice echoed through the place. "Maybe I am all of those things, hate me if you want, I don't care. But please, don't let those bad feelings you have for me blind you, don't let the galaxy suffer just because you don't like me. This may be the only chance we’ll ever have.”
The dead silence in the place made you doubt for a moment of your words, sure there weren't the best but were sincere, you just hoped they would accept.
"She's right, this is our only chance" Poe added. "And she's the only one that know that place. As I see it, Y/N it's our only hope to end this war."
Approval faces nodded in response. Poe then reviewed the plan "We use the Falcon as distraction, I'll get to the planet with a small squadron and make sure Y/N gets inside. And then what?"
"You blow everything up" you said, the pilot smiled confidently at you before turning his gaze to Finn and finally to Leia who gave him an approval nod.
"Alright, everybody go. We have a war to end" Poe commanded.
