14. Does your OC/WoL have an item that they keep with them? If they do, what is it? Why do they love it? Why do they keep it with them?
aside from like... job crystals, and Azem's crystal being givens... yeah. yeah, there is one thing.
i haven't actually gone into Ehryu's whole deal with Haurchefant on Tumblr before. and it's a long story, but i need to tell it because the context is very important for the item.
I didn't know what to do with Haurchefant at first, because I wanted him to be important, because he's supposed to feel important in canon, but a straightforward "they were together and then he died" doesn't work for Ehryu. but then everything suddenly clicked into place when I realized he's her G'raha prequel.
G'raha is the same thing repeating of someone who's in love with Ehryu and she's really very fond of them but is still mostly aromantic. and the reason Ehryu is so cautious about starting anything with G'raha is because she was less cautious with Haurchefant. and fucked up. and now has Regrets.
So she and Haurchefant had a thing, starting in ARR, but they did not establish their intentions for each other clearly enough because of cultural differences. She's just not used to exclusivity and commitment being standard. whereas his entire life has revolved around that standard, because of his family situation. So they had differing expectations, and she ended up hurting him.
by "cheating" with Emmanellain.
Haurche was planning to propose!!! but then she casually brings up sleeping with Emma, because as far as she's concerned that's fine? that's normal to her. but not to Haurche, and his heart plummets. He suddenly realizes they're on totally different wavelengths. doesn't blame Ehryu, but she realizes she's said something wrong, and Haurche confesses his "mistake," and then it's Ehryu's turn to feel like shit.
and things are still awkward when the Vault rolls around. and it becomes abundantly clear that he holds no grudge when he dies for her.
(and that circles back to G'raha because he's already more than willing to sacrifice himself for her too. and it's not fair to them and she really doesn't want to encourage it!!!)
The ring that Haurchefant was planning to propose with was with his effects that were returned to his family, and Edmont gives it to her. She didn't even know about the proposal plan, and she breaks in a big messy mix of grief and guilt. tries to turn the ring down, confessing that she'd hurt him (omitting the details because Emma's dad doesn't need to know that about him), but Edmont insists she take it anyway.
and it's been sitting in its box in her bag ever since.
