Edward Teach suffers a curse that causes him to hunger desperately and insatiably for human flesh. Izzy is more than happy to help: to him, this is the Kraken, a sea god who requires a sacrifice every now and again, and he's more than honoured to deliver the corpses to his captain's door himself. They have a sick, bloody, yet - to Izzy - strangely beautiful routine.
Then Stede Bonnet walks into their lives. Suddenly, Edward's found someone who fills that empty space, and his hunger is gone. Izzy, the faithful butchering priest, is left in the lurch - until, that is, Stede leaves, leaving Edward with nothing but the Kraken's hunger and a very overeager servant.
