Only just realised I write most of my works in the (deeply more unpopular) present tense.
Huh.
I honestly have so rarely analysed this that I didn't notice. Most fictional works are in past tense, but I always just sort of feel that using present tense makes it sound more like I'm currently destroying someone's psyche, and not like I did it a while ago.

I can’t remember exactly which fic it was but I wanna tell your portrayal of Ben solo that no one’s gonna respect him when all the axe body spray he wears makes him smell like a frat house fuckboi. That is all.
Not only did I say that, but I'll double down: people who don't think Ben Solo / Kylo Ren smelled like some really basic bitch boy deodorant are not right.
He didn't smell like burnt leather. He didn't smell like cinnamon, as I often purported. This man was basting in Lynx Africa. This man was wearing shit galactic-approved deodorant.
He never smelled proper. We were all smoking big copium blunts. This guy was 29 and living like a 17 year old. He smelled of whatever roll-on the Empire was spitting out. AT BEST.
At worst he was sweaty as fuck, and smelled like gym sock.
