A small question-noise hums behind her lips, and she tilts her head, encouraging Adrien to continue. They may not have known each other for very long, but she meant what she said: she liked to pride herself on being a listening ear when it was necessary ( even if there were some secrets she herself could never share ), and—while she still couldn’t explain it—the feeling of attachment towards the younger boy was still persistent. It still wasn’t romantic, but there was definitely a pull, and it had already peaked her interest a while ago.

The murmurs of an akuma wandering the streets of Paris trickles into the class Adrien and Lani both sit in. Lani tries her best to focus on what the teacher lectures on about but she simultaneously knows she can’t ignore her duties. “ Whose turn is it again, Kit-Kat ? ” She spares a glance to blonde model beside her, knowing his secret.

“Hey, that’s a really cool avatar! I didn’t know Link VRAINS even had a place you could pick up costumes, but it’s...creative!” Halloween wasn’t a ‘holiday’ Soulburner really enjoyed, but if the online VR world was going to be like this for it, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad! He could handle a few cats.

Having a one-on-one time with his friends through his computer did made his room feel…less empty. However, being able to hang out with them was a lot more enjoyable. Something the model wished he could do without having to conceal his identity.

              ❝ sorry, maybe next time. ❞ he managed to murmur; forcing a sheepish smile shortly after. Hoping to address a less melancholy approach ( as hard as it was ). ❝ Perhaps Alya isn’t busy ? I’m sure she will be thrilled to go with you, Marinette. ❞

“He won’t let you out even for a little bit?” she pouted. He was supposed to be her boyfriend. They were supposed to do everything together. Ok, maybe not everything but this was definitely important. “Bringing Alya along doesn’t do much for our date, sweetie.”

A frown was etched into her face as she thought about how to best phrase this. Adrien meant the entire world to her, so being forced to do this to him hurt so much. She wanted to be selfish and ignore what Gabriel wanted her to do. But she also knew how much going to school meant to Adrien... and she wasn’t prepared to take that away from him for her own selfish desires.

“It’s something else actually... I... I think we need to take a break from seeing each other.”

There. The painful words were finally out of her mouth as she turned her back to him. He didn’t need to see how much her face betrayed the words she said.

     Marinette's cheeks flushed to red at his comment. “I feel like I’m super lucky to know and be with someone like you, Adrien. It felt like...everything was meant to be, even though I totally lost sight of those signs.” Of course getting married with kids was something she always wanted since she was a teenager, but yet she felt like she had to say 'thank you' plenty for Adrien especially. For bearing with her impatience as Ladybug, her clumsiness and simple mindedness as Marinette, pretty much everything! But as he always assured her, he loved the girl behind the mask. After he kissed her forehead, and said that very familiar nickname of hers, Marinette started to feel calm once more. She loved having him close, especially his sweet kisses and kind words were so endearing.
