Thinking about Prince!Buggy who hates the prince of their neighboring kingdom Prince!Shanks, because at some point in their young life he was “betrayed” by him.

but because he’d also get in trouble if he spoke of it because he wasn’t supposed to be there to begin with so he stayed quite, only doing his best to avoid the prince during big events, which was hard since prince!Shanks always asked about his whereabouts whenever Buggy was in the same area, forcing him to escape the party before the red haired prince could find and humiliate him in public.

((At least that’s what Prince!Buggy thinks Shanks would do.))

So when he gets news that his father wants to Marry his sister off to Prince!Shanks for the sake of a political alliance, he takes this as a chance to assassinate Prince!Shanks personally.

He disgusts himself as his sister, and goes through the whole ceremony. He just wants to wait for the wedding night just to end the prince, which doesn’t seem to be close enough because Prince!Buggy is frustrated by the perverted red haired prince since he seemed to be too touchy.

Groping his behind, tightening his hold on Buggy’s waist whenever someone tried to talk to him, and even dared to hurry out of the party just so he can get to the main event of the night, which got them many giggles and laughs of the impatient prince.

Oh Buggy will enjoy running his dagger along the perverted prince’s throat.

So imagine his shock when Prince!Shanks had his hand which one then held the blade, above his head, and his heavy dress was used against him to pin his legs on the bed. And the veil he used to hide his nose and beard was discarded somewhere on the ground. But what unnerved him more not that Prince!Shanks had found him out and might rightfully get him executed, since he attempted to assassinate the prince. But the crazed happy look on his eyes as he looked down at Buggy.

“You have no idea how happy I was when I saw that it was you who I would marry, I mean yes, the people thinks I married your sister but I KNEW the moment I saw your eyes I knew it was you. Ahh~ I wanted nothing more than just hold you in my arms just then and there….but I held back…I was good, right?! …why do you look so scared, Bugs? I did all of that just for you~”

Turns out Prince!Shanks never forgot about Prince!Buggy since that day where they were forcibly separated, how happy he was when he got the news that Buggy was safe back in his kingdom. So he tried his best to meet him again during major events where all royalties and nobilities gathered….

…but why was he running away?….

Why is Buggy avoiding him like the plague? He tried to surprise him one day, by hiding in the guest room of Buggy. Only for him to overhear the bluenette curse him and call him a backstabber and traitor. It broke his heart and with time even drove him crazy, especially because he had grown feelings for the young prince during their youth and wanted to act on it but then they were forced to separate because of the circumstances.

Prince!Shanks wanted to meet Prince!Buggy so bad that when his father told him that he would marry Buggy’s younger sister he agreed only because it means that he gets to meet Buggy again.

But then Buggy himself showed up in front of him with the most beautiful dress, that Shanks would have liked to be more revealing but again from the blazing blue eyes of hate that met his adoring red ones. Yes, maybe he should have kept his hands to himself during the party to make his blue less upset with him but he could help himself!

Right now, Prince!Shanks will blackmail Prince!Buggy to stay quiet and play the adoring wife or else he will have to make it public that Buggy disguised himself as a woman and tried to kill him, which will bring great disgrace to his family. Which scared Buggy into submission.

Buggy’s family are well known noble family of merchants, they were the first family to work along side creatures who are not human, directly after the peace was declared from the leaders of both sides. But the people of both sides still hesitant and didn’t act peaceful.

So Buggy’s ancestors were the first to ask to import some exotic foods and items from whom they called “Monsters”, but to do so they had to learn about it, which made them learn about the culture and everything in it. It was rough at first, with them almost losing their home, land and most importantly their lives. But life found a way and the two sides are now living along one another.

Because of the bond that the elders created all those centuries ago the two families are still very close, if it wasn’t for the physical differences you’d say that they might be one family, but from how every generation did end up as best friends and have their children raised along one another they might as well be.

The other family are of Dragon descent, which means they hold great power within them, some say they they used to see beyond what the eyes can, but over the centuries this ability was lowered to being enhanced sense of magic. One of their ability is seeing the bond between them and another person. The the bond is made, or that is about to snap, or if it disappeared. Doesn’t matter if they were human or not, or the bond was of love or simple as master and servant.

So when the latest leader of both families had heirs at the same time they decided to make their babies meet. And the moment the red slit eyes of the dragon family heir landed on the blue haired heir of the merchant his eyes became large pupils and he refused to be separated from him.

The father and mother of Shanks knew immediately what they means. It was awkward to explain to Buggy parents that their son was the soulmate of their son and since they met so soon Buggy needs to stay near Shanks for at least the first 10 years of his life before they can be able to separate but only for short while, because being too far from your soulmate can affect the dragon’s mental estate to dangerous levels.

So the two families agreed to betroth the two heirs, no one was upset by the situation they actually saw it as the gods admiring the bond and decided to unify them through bond deeper than just friendship.

Buggy was annoyed by how clingy Shanks was too him, he tried pushing him away, insulting him, giving him impossible tasks far away so he can have some peace but Shanks always came back smiling.

Some days Buggy would try to push shanks off by telling him “I love someone else!” But Shanks would only reply “And I love Buggy~” before giving him a kiss on the cheek.

The truth is Shanks knows how Buggy feels through the bond, even when he lies he can sense it but doesn’t tell Buggy about it because he knows he will get upset so as long as shanks doesn’t push his buttons too much him and Buggy can stay close forever.

{I want this AU to have Dark!Shanks Themes but not as angsty as the others, kind of like. Romcom, situations. There will be serious moments, like people trying to separate them or Buggy feeling a little betrayed or even Shanks losing control because Buggy is not there. But all in all I want it to be funny and refreshing}

1- “Bug”

Buggy doesn’t know if it was a bug in the system or not but lately has been noticing something strange in the dialogues of the game he was playing.

It was simple, he played as a character, which he customized to his likeness in real life, and went on quests which lead him to the final evil boss to destroy him. But it was Buggy’s favorite game so even when he won he still replayed it wanting to get all the trophies.

But the more he played the more he noticed how the dialogues of the NPCs had changed. They’d ask him about his day, greet him with such familiarity and excitement, which was so life like that Buggy couldn’t help but be happy at the praise, considering how he rarely gets it in real life.

The dialogues of king Shanks was especially different. Buggy could swear that whenever the scenery of the him entering the courtroom with the king oh so far away that you can’t see his, he can still catch how the king would stand up in attention, as if he can see Buggy before he could even address himself and get closer.

“My hero! I’m so happy to see you back again!”

Again? Didn’t Buggy reset the quest?

“You seem weary. Have you eaten? Rested? Your strength means much to all of us… especially to me.”

Buggy felt a little guilty, he hasn’t been eating well lately, wait! Why was he anxious about making king Shanks worry?

“Come, walk with me in the gardens. The night air suits those who carry weighty thoughts.”

A garden scene!!?? He never saw that in the reviews! Was it a hidden scene that he discovered?SO FLASHY!

“There is something about you that stirs the old tales in my heart. Heroes are not just legends; sometimes they are the ones who hold my thoughts captive.”

Well, that was weirdly poetic. Buggy thought Shanks was a drunk King who loved to party and make his people happy. Never thought he was such a deep thinker.

“This token is not for the court but for you alone. Keep it close, as I do your…courage. And use it when you need me”

Buggy examines the item, it was some kind of ancient stones but awkwardly enough it doesn’t have any description of what it can actually do, so Buggy just kept it in his inventory for when he truly needs it as Shanks offered. Because as much as the red haired sloppy king annoys him Buggy can’t help but admire him in some way, but if someone asked him who is your favorite character he’d be damned before confessing the truth.

“Shit! I have to get ready for work! Or crocodile will have my ass!”

As buggy hurried to change his clothing, he didn’t notice how the dialogue as well as the King’s expression. It changed into simple dots, and the king who had a charming smile now had a look of dissatisfaction with some anger.

“I forgot to turn of my computer!! Huh?”

“I hope you have a great day and please for no one, for no harm shall come to you while I draw breath. It is my solemn duty... for only you.”

“That’s…weird, why I he saying that?….Did I exit the conversation between us?…I don’t have time for that! Ok thank you bye!”

Buggy didn’t know why he replied it just felt natural as he rushed out of the front door, note seeing the big smile that blasted on king Shanks’s face at being genuinely acknowledged.

His eyes suddenly became Sharp as he glanced down at a stone in his hand that resembled the one he gave buggy but had different color. The stone will be able to save Buggy from danger if he encountered one. By simply teleporting him to the “video game” world where Shanks will keep him away and protect him from any danger….

Here…with him….in his arms…forever…
