I keep seeing people talk shit about Cullen fans, like saying that they're toxic and they're always attacking other fans for their opinions. But in my experience, all the Cullen fans I've known have been super nice while most of the fans who define their entire fandom experience by hating him are the ones who are toxic and rude. I'm neutral towards the character, but I'm sharing your rage.

There’s bad eggs in every corner, but yeah basically. I don’t even know where the wank came from because as far as I know everyone’s just minding their business. 

I really don’t understand pushing all your energy into hating a character but if that’s how you have fun, at least tag properly. Fandom is meant for enjoyment first and foremost not some morality contest.

My Cullen fan mutuals have critical thinking skills, like contrary to what people think. So there’s That.

I want to snark about purity culture and how people are shitty enough to assume liking a character = support their actions or views in a IRL context, but honestly I'm too 'old', tired and depressed to care anymore if someone assumes stuff about me as a person just because I romance Anders and let him live in DA2. It's their problem if they can't separate fictional stuff and RP actions with the real life individual. You enjoy what you enjoy, ok? It's not worth the anxiety

Lol funnily enough Anders is my canon romance for DA2 and also let him live. Why? Well cause my Hawke’s in love with him

And then I went ahead and romanced Cullen in DAI and apparently that’s a Big No-No and you don’t really like Anders if you do that

May I high five you? I kinda want to high five you right now. But yeah, I just keep to my corner and only follow people who seem levelheaded about characters, whether they like or dislike them, and their flaws/shortcomings of the writing, and don't try to enforce some sort of "your fun is wrong!" on how others play the game.

This is the reason why my fan space is super curated and I follow very few people. I’ve been in enough fandoms to know that who you follow can make or break a thing you enjoy.

Oh man, I have a EMT!Cullen/Police detective Lavellan AU kicking around in my head and now I can't unsee "ridiculously hot EMT going viral" being a thing.

Oh dear, he thinks it’s just another typical call, not knowing someone took a quick snap and posted it on Twitter. He’d be like that “ridiculously photogenic guy” meme from some years ago.

The next day, Lavellan’s like “Wow, people are really going crazy over you on Twitter.” 

and Cullen frEAKS OUT and attempts to try to figure out how to make a Twitter account to try to fan down the flames lol

Celeritas and I once worked out that modern AU Cullen could accidentally become a YouTube star because of him sharing his organization tips and freezer meal planning on Pinterest - he did a demonstration of his sock drawer or something, and people heard his voice and saw his hand and got hooked.

And yeah, we agreed 100% he wouldn't understand why he got so popular. :D

AMAZING lol, I love this because they didn’t even see his face. They just heard that warm baritone and saw those hands and started drooling (I mean, same lmao). 

The best part of this is him somehow setting up an account somewhere to share organization tips, god it’s so in character.

Man, I was so disinterested in any of the LIs going into DA:I that I mostly just romanced Cullen to see if he'd mention my Warden (Never shipped it, just was hungry for them continuity crumbs). ... then I found myself laughing like a idiot at the kiss scene at 1 AM and well it just went downhill from there. I may have shouted "YOU DORKS!" at several points.

hduhfu the romance is just SO SWEET, like you know where it’s going but it still catches you off-guard with how he goes about it. That kiss was truly something, I knew you were supposed to get interrupted because someone told me but I had no idea he’d just go for it and kiss your quizzie. Damn, Rutherford you have moves sometimes!
