When Aimes said to his men that he was going to do recon alone before the big operation tomorrow, so they would be better prepared, he actually meant this: meeting Dante for the first time since this whole not-killing-Toretto-because-the-suffering-was-due operation started. They knew they would be apart for most if not all of it, but that didn’t mean Aimes didn’t feel a little neglected. Dante did not contact him (and Aimes knew why) or left him any hints whatsoever (because their plan and its branches were going exactly as they predicted) but, well, Aimes became fond of the twisted little guy.
