would you have any tips for long painting sessions? I keep finding I neck neck aches from looking down at the models I'm painting after a while
I (literally) feel your pain. Here’s some stuff to try:
Get up every so often (at least once or twice an hour) and stretch.
Check in with yourself frequently and lower your shoulders (this is my biggest issue).
Make sure your posture isn’t terrible to begin with. Seems obvious, but important to think about.
Stay hydrated, and make sure your stomach’s not completely empty.
Invest in a heating pad. My posture’s awful, and I tense up, so my back feels and sounds like a bag of marbles at all times. Having a cheap heating pad on my upper back while I paint helps loosen things up.
Stop when you're in pain. A slight annoyance is one thing, but working through actual pain is just going to cause more problems in the long run. I tend to get super sloppy when my back really starts to hurt.
Also, consider the chair you’re sitting in. It may also be wise for you to invest in a magnifying lamp, so you don’t have to crane your neck as much to see what you’re doing.Â
