Something I've always loved - ever since I was little - was photography.

Being able to capture the beauty of everyday life and nature in a still image forever helped me escape from the rough reality that a lot of us lived in and gave me a chance to be relaxed and free, even if it was momentarily.

So, when I saw the Instagram post of a competition to help shoot a cosplay photoshoot from a really cool cosplayer late on a Friday night, I had to try and enter it.

Lena Lemon. Not only really talented in making her own cosplays and others, she's also really popular in the universe of anime and video games (not to mention, also really pretty too).

As I waited to see if my application was sent, I stared at my camera on top of my drawers - a Nikon camera passed down from my granddad just before he passed away.

I smiled at it softly, remembering all the times that I used to struggle to hold it's weight, his hands helping me adjust the pressure of the lens as the camera aimed at a small patch of flowers on the pavement from a local park. I remembered the proud smile that he gave me as he ruffled my hair, happy that his grandchild managed to take her first proper photo with a professional camera.

"You're gonna go far, kid," my granddad always grinned as he said those words, over and over again until the day that he didn't anymore.

That was three years ago and as much as it hurts, I try your best to focus on the present and the exciting opportunities ahead. Like the competition!

Beep. Beep.

Waking up suddenly, I sleepily looked up at my alarm to check the time.

5:30am. Way too early to be up on a Monday morning.

As I groan and slowly get out of bed, I pull on comfy clothes to relax in just as a notification lights up my phone, the bright light too bright at this hour.

A D.M....

From who though?

Lena Lemon: hii! I'm really happy to say you won the competition to help me and a friend of mine do a cosplay shoot!

Oh my god. No way. Lena messaged me?! I WON?! HOW?!

(me♡): omg hii!! This is so cool, thank you!!

Looking at my phone, I sit in shocked silence, waiting for a few more minutes as three dots appear in the bottom left side of my screen.

Oh my goodness.

Lena Lemon: aww I'm excited to have you with us! I have a very small favour though to ask if that's okay with you?

(me♡): yeah, absolutely!

A few moments pass as I wait for her response to pop up. Then:

Lena Lemon: Would you be able to come today? Everything got pushed forward a week and it's a bit of a rush at the moment. If not, I totally understand and I could always find a different option?

Wow, today. Thank goodness I have time free to do this. Happily, I reply:

(me♡): sure! Just send me the location and I'll be there soon! ♡

Later that day, as I sit in a busy cafe with a cosy drink, I get sent a location a few hours away. Wow, so close.

Lena Lemon: Hi there!! We've managed to sort out a location at an old warehouse that's clean and in good shape. We can't wait to see you!

Grinning, I head home and aim to get packing, grabbing my lucky camera and keychain from one of my role models Danny Phantom Exe - a funny Tiktok star who might be a bit cute too hehehe....

Soon, my bags are ready as I get in my car and turn on my driving playlist before leaving my parking spot and drives down the road.

Guess I'm on my way then.
