Josh takes his medicine dutifully everyday. At least one of his parents are in view to watch him take it every single time. In their grief over the twin’s death, they had neglected their son and had not been mindful of him and his well-being. They had not noticed when he stopped taking his medication, when the plan to horribly prank his friends was set into motion. They had accidentally turned a blind eye on their son, and for that they would regret it. 

Because of what had occurred the year before, with the prank and maliciousness that plagued Josh and the exorcism that was to rid him of the curse, Josh’s parents wanted to keep their only children left healthy and sane. They couldn’t lose him too - as they almost had.

Not that it mattered if his parents checked to see if he took his meds now. Last year changed all those involved, Josh included. True he was the one to go through the most physical changes, his mentality was altered as well. The guilt he feels everyday, of what he did, is a storm cloud over his conscience. No matter how bad the side effects would get or how many times he would need to switch medications - Josh will do it willingly. It was a price he could easily pay.

For whenever he feels like it’s too hard, that the side effects are too much, all Josh has to do is swish his tongue around his mouth. Feeling his sharpened teeth or the scarring on the inside of his mouth from the surgery to close the tear to his cheek is all Josh needs as a reminder of what last year brought. What his horrible, stupid choices ended up causing.
