How do you say "et glimt i øjet" in English?
I've been translating Danish into English for more than a decade now, and there are still a few words and expressions that make me pause at the keyboard.
"Et glimt i øjet" is one of them. It comes up frequently in texts, implying that the speaker is speaking with an undertone of the dry humor so beloved by Danes.
The correct translation is not, as I often see, with a "glimmer in the eye" or "a glimmer in his eye."

Extreme Danglish
EF Education First made a survey of English skills around the world giving Danes a fifth place. Which would be okay if not for the fact that our arch enemy, Sweden, is better than us.
