Awaken the Highland Warrior
Oh wow, that cover's got a lot going on.
The Authentic Photoshop Highland Tattoo is embellished beautifully by the Authentic Photoshop Shiny Highland Jewellery that he's wearing.
See how manfully strong he is! He's clutching the tiny scabbard for his tiny sword SO TIGHT that the veins in his bulging muscles are bulging EVEN MORE SO. The extent of the bulging however suggests that that ruched lampshade tassel armband is going to become a ruched lampshade tassel bracelet when he's done.
To be fair, however, he might be clutching the thing in terror because of the GIANT SPIRIT LADY floating just above and behind the miniature highland villa and graveyard that he's standing in front of. And also the floating spirit graveyard in the sky? Or maybe he already reached the peak of terror because of the MASSIVE LIGHTNING MOON that appears to be crashing into Scotland.
A man from another time… Faelan is from an ancient clan of Scottish Highland warriors, charged with shielding humanity from demonic forces. Betrayed and locked in a time vault, he has been sleeping for nearly two centuries when spunky historian Bree Kirkland inadvertently wakes him. She’s more fearsome than the demon trying to kill him, and if he’s not careful, she’ll uncover the secrets his clan has bled and died to protect… Could be the treasure she’s been seeking all her life… When Bree inherits an old treasure map, she discovers a warrior buried in her backyard. But the warrior isn’t dead. Bree shocks Faelan with her modern dress and her boldness, and he infuriates Bree every time he tries to protect her. With demons suddenly on the move, Bree discovers that Faelan’s duty as protector is in his blood, and that her part in this fight was destined before she was born. But nothing is ever what it seems…
First of all, you need to know that the full title of this book is in fact "Awaken the Highland Warrior: A demon Hunter Scottish Highlander Romance (The Connor Clan: Highland Warriors Book 1)" which, frankly, a typesetter with even a modicum of ambition could have easily fit on the cover.
Actually, the first of all should be that Connor is not a Scottish name. Connor is an Irish name. It's from Conor, and Connor is the English-derived spelling. IRELAND AND SCOTLAND ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. Don't get me started on Faelan. Faelan is a real name.
An Irish name.
Time travelling men can only ever travel forwards in time. Fact. This tragically means they can never go home. But they never want to, because why would they when spunky (ugh, I know it's an Americanism, but spunk means something in the UK that it doesn't mean over there, and that is all I'm willing to say on the matter at this time) historians exist?
I hope the nothing that is never as it seems in this case is that Bree (also an Anglicised Irish name) is also a time travelling demon hunter from an Ancient Scottish Clan, Clan McIreland, only this time from the future (because women only travel backwards in time).
