DIG! es la historia de dos grupos contada por ellos mismos desde el camino y la locura: The Dandy Warhols y The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Perseguían el sueño dorado del rock cuando se conocieron en 1995, mientras encabezaban su revolución psicodélica-folk-retro-futurista. La película fue dirigida, producida y filmada por la documentalista Ondi Timoner, quien vivió siete años con ellos en extenuantes giras, sesiones de grabación y un entorno caótico de drogas duras, alcohol, pleitos, detenciones y familias rotas. Anton Newcombe, líder de Brian Jonestown Massacre, la odió tanto como al libro de Jesse Valencia, Keep Music Evil: The Brian Jonestown Massacre Story, en el que dedica un capítulo a los efectos de la película en los grupos y el deterioro de la relación entre la directora y los músicos.
