Dirty little Dandelion fictive here that's real damn elated over the sudden death of Netflix. Hoping and praying to any gods that can hear me that this is the end of their adaptation of the Witcher, too. Maybe now the fandom can calm down and actually read/watch the older content that treats the nuance of the story with respect- instead of turning it into a more punchy version of game of thrones with barely an echo of the folklore it was written around.
I can understand deviating from established canon- every good story has variations depending on who tells it- however. Actively shitting on established characters and plot points for the sake of Drama just isn't it. There's more than enough Drama in a watcher's life to go around, you don't need to turn them into whoremongering assholes who bully little girls to cause narrative tension. Especially at the cost of important foils for your protag??

Maybe I'm just glad Netflix is going down b/c of how they handled Eskel, in hindsight. Still though- for the few good points they've got- the Netflix adaptation of Witcher just rubs me the wrong way.
