okay so i know a lot of people are mad at Okarun, and like, i would be mad too if it weren't for the fact that the kid most likely doesn't realize what the fuck he's doing

even if Okarun has moments of emotional maturity, that doesn't change the very real fact he's a very socially awkward guy who has never had real friends

bro does not understand a lot of social cues, and doesn't grasp why he gets the attention he does given that he's been an outcast practically his entire life (see the moment before they met Vamola how Momo had to flat out tell him he's considered cool now)

even though Aira is as subtle as a fucking brick to the face when it comes to her affection towards Okarun, the kid probably still thinks she's still romantically awkward and doesn't fully like him like that, and with the way she framed why she wanted to hold his hand in the last chapter he probably took it as face value

Momo held his hand previous because "it's cold" and even though he was flustered by it, he took it to be that way and the two hadn't held hands since

fuck Momo wrote on a gosh dang piece of paper addressed to him "Love ya!" and the little bean wasn't sure if it was platonic or romantic YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO BE SO DIRECT TO THIS POOR CHILD'S FACE SMH

so in that same vein, Aira stating she wants to hold hands because it's crowded is the excuse he's going to believe because it's not a direct confession of feelings and he doesn't want to be rude to someone he considers a friend, especially if she's feeling (what he believes to be) distress

someone said he was emotionally cheating on Momo, and i can't fully believe that because to emotionally cheat you have to reciprocate the emotions the other is giving you and Okarun only feels platonic affection toward Aira

i do think Okarun needs a reality check and for someone to actually spell it out for him that what he's doing with Aira is not a good thing, but atp no one in the group is able or willing to do it (if Momo had her memories then we wouldn't even BE in this situation because these two would have properly confessed and be making out sloppy style on the ferris wheel!)

my hope is that Aira takes charge and spells out her that her feelings for him ARE for real, that way he can properly process his actions up to this point and set things straight with her like how he firmly rejected Vamola when she was under the impression she could marry him

this was established in Kouki's introduction chapter, she was trying to find Momo to steal her psychic abilities with one of the knives. they also tried to get Seiko too by having the guy with the iron bull powers to subdue her
