I just wanted to say that I've loved your writing for a long time now, so over the summer I decided to start reading Rivers of London so I could read more of your stuff, and thank you. It's been a delightful ride, and now I'm just mad I have to wait for the next book. At least now I get to dive into fanfic without spoiling myself!

It's occurring to me that I may now have been following you here for about as long as I did on LJ, but I still think of you as musesfool and not cacchieressa.
I mean, I do too, so it makes sense that you would. especially since it’s my name everywhere else! (Oddly enough, someone else has it here on tumblr. Which is weird, but whatever.)
Veronica Mars for the character questions!
First impression:
Oh, she’s like Buffy except without the supernatural aspects!
Impression now:
I love her! I love how messy and angry and smart she is, even when she makes poor decisions or pushes away the people who love her.
Favorite moment:
Veronica shredding the results of the DNA test.
Idea for a story:
I always wanted to write more VMars fic, but I never had that many ideas. I feel like there’s a crossover I’d like to write, but I’ve had a lot of sangria and can’t remember what it is right now.
Unpopular opinion:
I thought the relationship with Logan had run its course and was just bad for both of them by the time the show ended, and I’m not looking forward to them being together again in the revival. (Probably equally unpopular, I do ship her with Wallace, as well as with Weevil.)
Favorite relationship:
KEITH. I love that he’s such a good supportive dad and she’s supportive in return.

this is one of those social niceties I genuinely don’t get. I honestly do not care if I get a thank you card from someone. I like getting mail, I like hearing from people, but the thank-you itself? Do not care. And frankly, I’m a little judgy of the people who do care. Like, what was your motivation in giving the gift?? If you’re in my presence, of course I say thank you, but it really means enough to purchase and write a card, and go buy stamps??
Yeah, I personally would never begrudge someone not sending me a thank you card. It’s likely the person already told me thank you to my face anyway, and it’s not like I got the present expecting their undying gratitude. I got it because I wanted them to have it! I feel like a lot of younger people have this same attitude, so maybe it’s a tradition that will die out soon, like a lot of that other etiquette stuff that seems arbitrary in hindsight.

1. What was the first series you watched and how did you find out about it?
The first series I watched was Band of Brothers. I’d heard about it waaaay back when it came out but I never watched it because I always thought it would be way too sad. Then I went to Arlington Cemetery and saw a memorial to the 506th PIR and I was intrigued, so I came home and watched it. I can’t believe it took me so long, it’s amazing.
2. Which series of the three is your favorite? Why?
Band of Brothers is my favorite for a lot of reasons, but mostly I think they have the best focus on the characters and the unit as a whole. You really get to feel the company and what they went through, and almost all of the characters are loveable.
3. Have you read any of the books related to the series?
I’ve read Band of Brothers, and I’ve recently picked up Shifty’s War. I’m on the lookout for the others (and I have some on a waitlist at the library)
24. Your brOTPs, if you have any.
In the Pacific, my brotps are Sledge and Sid, Burgie and Snafu, and Hoosier with everyone lol. In Band of Brothers, the brotps are Toye and Guarnere, Babe and Guarnere (I love them so much), Lipton and Luz, Bull and Martin, Skip and Malarkey, and probably a ton of others I’m forgetting because the cast is so ginormous lol
25. Your OTPs, if you have any.
For the Pacific, I ship Sledge/Snafu. For Band of Brothers, I ship Speirs/Lipton, Babe/Roe, and Winters/Nixon (they’re like my hardcore OTP–like for serious) and also I love to see Harry/Kitty and also Bill/Frannie

I think as long as you're not literally writing "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" to beat your quests, you're absolutely fine. You're writing! Who cares what's motivating you?

just keep doing those words and quests! I worry sometimes I rely on word wars/writing with other people too much in order to get substantial writing accomplished. but if I'm writing, that's the main thing
Thanks, guys! I wrote 3000 words last night alone--3k in ONE NIGHT!!--so it’s definitely getting harder for me to feel too bad about it when I’m seeing so much progress. I’m going to be on track to start posting a new fic soon, which is something I wouldn’t have been able to do if it weren’t for how much progress I’ve made this week.
