The Dancing Men
One of the only good things about this episode: A shoutout to the story I based my username on: (But really, that one glimpse is all we get of the dancing men? Come on.)
Translation: AM HERE ABE SLANEY
This is the exact wording in the first note the client showed to Holmes in the canon story “The Adventure of the Dancing Men”.
Some editions have inaccurate printings of the code, but the one used in the episode is exactly as it appears in the original text. Also, most of the decoders online are not accurate, especially if they have the entire alphabet listed since not all the letters of the alphabet were used in the secret notes in the story.
The story in a nutshell:
Elsie Cubitt received threatening messages in code. Her husband, Hilton brings these messages to Holmes to ask for help because Elsie refused to share the secrets from her past in America with him. Hilton ends up dead at the hands of his wife’s former fiance, Abe Slaney who had been threatening her.
When Hilton Cubitt’s body is found it appears that Elsie shot him then herself. However Holmes deduces that 3 shots were fired. In their confrontation Hilton and Abe Slaney both fire at almost the same time, resulting in the servants apparently only hearing one shot.
The other messages sent in this story are:
AT ELRIGES COME ELSIE NEVER ELSIE PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD COME HERE AT ONCE (sent by Holmes to Abe Slaney)

I’m off to re-read the story and see if there are any elements that could translate to something in the world of BBC Sherlock.
only true sherlockians will understand
