Have you seen the video of a black faced lovebird "tap dancing" with irish music? don't know how much you know about lovebirds, but I was wondering if this is some sort of mating behavior and if its one of those cute but not good things?
I’d covered this in the past but can’t locate the original time I did it but, yes, this is one of those instances.
Lovebirds do this behaviour in a few circumstances and the meaning can vary a bit from bird to bird, in general this will be an aggressive display of some sort. This is further supported when you find the video that gif is from which later shows the bird striking the camera, a direct aggressive outburst. With this particular bird it could be that they see their reflection in the camera, do not like the camera, feel that the bag they’re in is their nesting site and want to defend it, the crinkling of bags often stimulates aggressive responses as well, since they were facing away the camera could have warped in the corner of their eye and startled them or there could be another reason that we can’t see from our side of the footage. Either way this is an aggressive, upset bird presenting a behaviour we don’t want to encourage!
