hello party people.

As I sat down to rewrite episode 2 of the webcomic that I started a shamefully long time ago (which by the way you can look forward to sometime this month-ish) I was reminded of Edmund Finney’s quest for the meaning of life. if that sounds unfamiliar to you, I would not be surprised.

Edmund Finney’s quest for the meaning of life, or Ed’s quest as I like to call it for short detailed the adventures of the eponymous Edmund who explores the world hoping to find some meaning in this empty existence, all while encountering quirky and surprising characters that never ceased to amaze me with how mundanely amazing they made these fictional irrational scenes seem.

it was quite the thing.

Hey all, an update is up there. I appreciate those who check back weekly for an update, but as explained before, that’s not going to be a realistic schedule for me any time in the foreseeable future. On the 24th of June, 2015, Dan posted a tweet announcing a collaboration he had done with a poet.

as of the 31st of March, 2018, this is his last known tweet.

his facebook page offers no consolation, neither does a google search of his name followed by various keywords. his entire online existence seems to be frozen in time somewhere in 2015, which in case you don’t know means that trying to find information about him is kinda like trying to find living tissue that dates from the Paleozoic era; in other words, freaking hard.

What bothers me isn’t necessarily the fact that Ed’s quest is by now a fossilized dead horse (that I continue to beat, with reason: is a very cool dead horse.)

it’s the fact that Dan as a human being has vanished. this is one of those rare occasions where I wouldn’t mind being wrong, I wouldn’t mind posting this only to discover a day or two later that Dan created an alternate Twitter account, and is now working on a whole new project thus making me seem like a complete fat head, but I’m doubting that’s the case…

trust me, I scrolled through the first two pages of dan long twitter accounts, lots of guitarists, dudes with beards, journalists, teachers, dads, bankers, businessmen, and one guy who’s apparently a voice actor. but none of them are a comic artist who created this charming piece of fiction that is very dear to me.

I understand that dan isn’t the first or last to have created something and then suddenly vanished off the face of the earth; but in most, if not all cases, the person in question maintains some form of online presence.

Dana Simpson finished Ozie and Millie, but you can still follow her on Twitter. Immy stopped working on ballerina mafia, but they’re working on other stuff now. GradeAunderA is on hiatus and his socials are as good as a tumbleweed in a looney toons cartoon, but you can still go to his twitch and you’ll see that it hasn’t really been that long ago since he’s streamed. he’s still kicking (at least I think)

I digress. I might be reading into this too much, and it may be my own fears speaking out. Wherever Dan is, I hope he’s doing good.
