"Do you blame them?" The words fell past his lips without consulting his brain first, but Jaime wouldn't take them back. The blond never had been one to soften his words, at least not when he knew he was right. Tyrion didn't deserve the mistrust, at least not inherently, but if his brother anticipated otherwise, he'd perhaps lost himself in too many of those books over the years, "Did you expect otherwise?"
His gaze moved to Tyrion's face, seeking eye contact, "I know you're not lying—" Did he, though? Did he really absolutely know for certain? No. Jaime couldn't know, but he trusted Tyrion enough to believe him. That would have to suffice, "—but even if they knew the truth for certain, they would still call you a lair for speaking it."
