Wanting to know what he has doing, with who we has talking to, or hanging with, was natural, Dick need  to know so he could keep an eye on him. Not to mention how easily Damian could offend someone; control damage could be necessary. Even Tim had agreed with him until the night he pointed out that maybe Damian needed to spend less time with Colin, Tim looked at him as if he was saying that the sky was pink with lime green clouds. Of course, Tim couldn’t know about a lot of things he was noting.

Abuse is a nice kid, maybe too nice, Dick like him, preferred him over Rose Wilson, jeez he'd prefer Lady Shiva over that girl, even if Damian has kind of a crush on her, she was years over his league and she saw him as a friend with whom she can talk to about having a psychopath for a parent. Stephanie is his favorite big sister, didn’t matter what Tim could say about how many times Damian seemed to be fawning, the girl spoiled him a lot and he didn’t wanted to lose her over his least loved brother but Tim is just to blind with jealousy to understand it. Kara and Katana are the kind of crush you have for a movie star, Power girl, well everybody has a crush on her, Damian is just a lucky bastard who happen to have the right links to talk to her. But Abuse…

Tim thinks Damian just likes women; Dick knows that is only half of the truth, his crush over males is less notorious, one can say that it’s veiled for the perks of friendship because it’s not about  blushes, slips of the tongue, weak knees, oh no, it’s the way he looks at them, smiles at them, speaks with them, touch them, and the boy has a soft spot for Colin. What makes Dick uneasy is the fact that Colin reciprocate those feelings, he has seen the boy’s ecstasy when Damian praises him in his weird, mean style, the blush in his cheeks when Damian touches him in an intimate way for his rude manner, and so on. It is obvious Colin is very aware of his feelings and what that represents, although he is not sure about Damian, because even if the kid talks about dates with Katana or Power girl, he doesn’t seem very interested in reaching out, and he still believes that kisses are gross, even hugs involving Power Girl's boobs are too awkward for him.

Dick isn’t talking about ridiculous claims, as Tim believes so, he is protecting Damian's innocence, and he is right to do it, someone has to! The boy barely knows how to talk with his brothers; he is not prepared for a relationship that can hurt him, minus his steam or his trust in others. No, no, Dick is just protecting his little brother from the grasp of ugly people, until he is ready for all those messy things… preferably after he's twenty and Dick has approved his date.
