so people often use the fact that stefan 'spent months studying elena trying to make sure she wasn't katherine' while damon knew instantly that it wasn't her as an argument against stelena/for delena, but to me it's such a pro datherine argument. the second damon saw elena he knew it wasn't katherine. because he knew, knows katherine SO WELL, because although elena looks exactly like katherine, he could tell in a second that something was missing. he fell in love with katherine's spunk and wit and charm and her sexiness and her snarkiness, all characteristics that he himself possesses. and they have not just this amazing chemistry that will never go away, but a complete understanding of each other because they are so alike in so many ways. because he loved katherine for 150 years. 150 YEARS. practically his whole existence. and he never stopped loving her and he never will.
