Metallica - "Damage Case" From the album Garage Inc. (November 23, 1998)
Last song scrobbled from iTunes at Last.fm
Motörheadache. On the B-side to "Hero Of The Day," released September 9, 1996.
File under: Garage Up Your Ass
Garage, Inc., 1998
This was a cover song compilation album. I previously mentioned that the $5.98 EP should be skipped because itâs on here. All of the singles I listed previously? The B sides of those singles show up here. Iâm not shitting on it. This is a great record with a lot of good tracks. A decided improvement from Load & Reload.
Lars Ulrich is a MASSIVE Motorhead fanboy. He was *literally* the president of the fan club. He partied with Lemmy backstage once when he was like 15-16, and puked on Lemmy. Lars WORSHIPS Motorhead. (You should too, to be honest. Lemmy is a God!). Two Motorhead songs show up on this record. Of the two, Metallica does a better version of âDamage Caseâ. Something about their version of âOverkillâ bugs me.
The Misfits show up too. Cliff Burton LOVED the Misfits. Picture a shitty VW Bus in the late 70s-Early 80s San Francisco. Ok, is it shitty and sketch as fuck? Yeah, that was Cliffâs ride. He also used his hands to drum on that resin steering wheel. Lars and James used to hear him coming from blocks away. Cliff apparently beat that steering wheel so hard that it had dents in it. They could hear Cliff coming down the block. Blaring the Misfits and beating the fuck out of the steering wheel of his shitbox VW Bus.
The âTurn the Pageâ cover came about because Lars heard Bob Segerâs version and knew that James would kill it. And Lars was right.
âWhiskey in the Jarâ is a classic Irish Bar song. Like, going back to the 1700s classic. Metallicaâs version is their cover of Thin Lizzyâs version. Yes, Thin Lizzy. That shitty âThe Boys are Back In Town Againâ song that everyone hates. Irish Band with a black singer from the 1970s. Black Irish guy fronting a rock band from Ireland in the 1970s... Dude had a set of nuts on him.
So, yeah, Metallicaâs cover of âWhiskey in the Jarâ is their version of Thin Lizzyâs version.
I own this record on vinyl. Itâs a banger.
Metallica plays âWhiskey in the Jarâ every time theyâre touring Europe, starting with Slane Castle in Meath, Ireland. Itâs a crowd roaring good time.
The singles are great. âWhiskey in the Jarâ is the standout.
The other tracks you should hear are their cover of Ozzyâs lovesong - Black Sabbathâs âSabra Cadabraâ, their cover of Motörheadâs âDamage Caseâ, and lastly it should be noted that James sang the vocals for âStone Cold Crazyâ at the live Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
Motörhead â Damage Case

Dr. Addison Shepherd: Pity. I've got three surgeries on the board. I was gonna ask you to scrub in but... I guess you should stay by that pregnant lady's side all day. You see to it, Dr. Bailey?
Dr. Miranda Bailey: Karev, go find your patient. Stevens, scrub in on Noah's patella fracture.
Dr. Alex Karev: The She-Shepherd just walks in here and pulls me off surgery?
Dr. Miranda Bailey: You burn the She-Shepherd, she burns back. Go.
Damage Case || MerDer
âGoodnight, lovebug,â Meredith whispers as she walks out of Zolaâs room, blowing her a kiss before leaving the door ajar behind her, then walking down the hall to their bedroom. Yawning and scratching her arm, she walks in their room just eager to sleep. It had been a long, exhausting day. A weird one. That early morning encounter with her sister had thrown her for a loop. She had not been expecting that, at all. And she felt such anger ever since. Her giddiness, joyful, cheery self was just making Meredith cringe, it was irritating. How could she waltz back in their lives and pretend everything was unicorns and rainbows.Â
Sighing to herself, Meredith makes her way to the bathroom, turning the water on and splashing water on her face. She is looking up at her reflection in the mirror when she hears her phone buzzing. Turning the water off, she wipes her hands and heads back into their bedroom, walking around the bed to grab her phone from her night stand. She then finds herself staring down at a text message that leaves her speechless. âHey Mer! Itâs Lexie! Hope your surgery went well! When I ran into you mentioned coming over for dinner sometime this week, what day works best for you? :)â She instantly feels a ball drop in her stomach, a bitter taste forming in her mouth. Falling straight up on her side of the bed, her jaw slightly clenched, her eyes do not look away from her phone even after the screen goes black, her head shaking slowly as she breathes out, âUnbelievable...â
