Congolese fighter Dalcha Lungiambula (9-1) is making the jump to the UFC. He’s the latest in a line of EFC champions to make the jump from South Africa to the UFC. He got a low bar to clear as former EFC champs like Garreth McLellan, Ruan Potts, Jay Cucciniello, and Nkazimulo Zulu failed to impress in their short jaunts in the UFC. Fighters like Cyril Asker and Don Madge have found some success thus far, but it hasn’t been against outstanding competition.
Lungiambula decided that he would be making the move down from heavyweight to 205, which will probably suit his 5′11 frame better. He was supposed to be fighting Justin Ledet, but Ledet puleld out. The UFC is currently looking for a replacement for UFC on ESPN 3 this Saturday (June 29).

Lungiambula stops Townsend in the 3rd off the back of a big left hand that put Townsend down. The first two rounds consisted of a lot of Lungiambula getting takedowns and holding top position. They were some big impressive takedowns but there wasn’t much grappling or ground n pound behind them. He comes out in the 3rd and blitzes Townsend, gets the mount and drops elbows until the ref stopped the fight. Impressive win for Lungiambula who is one of like two EFC->UFC transplants to actually look good in his debut. Props. We may have a 205 division yet.

Edmen is back and he’s got himself a win. Moving from Glendale to Vegas is going to be a good move for him. Dude needed to get away from Coach Eddie T. Also good that he took a year off. It’s probably a big reason he was able to get a step down.
