Since Rollo lived alone for a long time, I headcanon that he can cook rather well. Once he set the foot in Rouen, he noticed that his land had a lot of apples and he tasted it. It was so good he wanted Gisla to taste it too and elaborated many recipes to please Gisla’s mouth. He often bakes her apple pies and often asks the cooks for new ideas and tips.

Rollo once bought Gisla a golden dress because he likes how regal she is. ;)

Rollo often fantasize about Gisla fighting in the shieldwall, with a sword in her hands but he keeps him for himself as Gisla won’t train to fight since it is against he beliefs. Knife foreplay, on the other hand…..

Once Rollo was drunk and he grabbed Gisla’s ass, groaning how much he loved her and how beautiful she was. Gisla did not entirely disliked it, but she still threatened him to leave the bedchamber and sleep elsewhere.

Once, Gisla drank too many wine and she got drunk. Once Rollo came into the bedchambers, making sure she was alright, she grabbed his groin and laughed. Rollo often thinks of the episode and reminds her of it as often as he can which only brings Gisla’s annoyance because that is a sin and she is ashamed she did not behave like a lady.

Once, Gisla insisted to go see Rollo as he fought the Britons near Lexovias. She watched him fight and at night, she told him how fascinated she was with his strength and violence. She even admitted she was fascinated with him as he climbed the wall when he still was loyal to his brother. They had sex that night and conceived Geirlaug.

Rollo’s favorite thing is to stroke Gisla’s hair. He doesn’t know why, but it always comforts and relaxes him.

Rollo and Gisla had more than three children: William, Geirlaug/Adela, Marcellus, Celsa and twins.

Gisla understands her husband better than anyone else and has come to terms with the fact that he will never be fully Frankish and she tolerates his heathen ways and gods. So long as he attends Mass, she is fine with it.

Rollo understands Gisla and trusts her; that is why, when he goes to war, she is in charge of ruling. This is one of his heathen ways, but Gisla likes it because she actually feels like his equal and she loves ruling;she feels like she is fulfilling her duty.

Rollo and Gisla disagreed over William’s choice of spouse. Rollo wanted him to marry his lady love, Sprota while Gisla wanted him to marry a noble lady to form an alliance with a powerful fief. Nevertheless, it was William who had the final say on that matter and he married Sprota more danico and Liutgarde of Vermandois the Christian way to please both his parents.

YAAAS! I’m happy to help! I’m not sure what country you’re in, but I’d start with drugstore makeup so you can play around and not spend a bunch of money. Wet n Wild and Elf are both great brands to start with because they’re pretty cheap and they have great products for the price. Elf also has great brushes for great prices and I love some of mine more than some of my expensive ones. 

It can definitely be overwhelming at first, but start slow. If you’ve never used foundation before I’d start with a BB cream. They’re more like tinted moisturizers and just kinda evens out your skin, making it look healthy. I don’t tend to use foundation everyday, but I’ll use BB cream because it just gives your skin a radiance and they have SPF. There’s good drugstore ones. Loreal has one that’s nice. And you don’t need a brush or sponge for those, you just apply like a moisturizer. 

And then a good concealer can brighten up your under eyes if you have dark circles or if you got 2 hours of sleep and look like a zombie ;-) Like me on most days. They also just add radiance. The Maybelline age-rewind is one of my faves. The brightening one. It’s pretty fool-proof. 

For shadows, start out with some neutrals and play around with them. A lot of drugstore shadows are pretty crappy. The best ones, in my humble opinion, are the Milani palettes. Those shadows are pigmented and blend like they are high-end shadows. They come in different color schemes. 

Mascara, that’s a necessity. The drugstore has great ones. The Essence Lash Princess is so cheap and better than so many higher-end mascaras. You can get that on the Ulta website if they don’t sell Essence in your drugstores. Mine don’t. 

Wet n Wild and Milani have great blushes. And then with lipstick you don’t gotta be fancy. You can start out with something like tinted lip balm and go from there. I don’t wear a full face of makeup every day, just usually the basics. BB cream, concealer, shadow, mascara and lip balm. I might put on blush and eyeliner if I’m not rushing out the door in the morning. Some days I feel like being more fancy, other times not. But I definitely don’t go out of the house without SPF on my face. It’s the best thing for your skin, protecting it from the sun. 

Another thing I recommend is signing up for a makeup subscription. Those are great for beginners. Ipsy is my favorite and it’s only 10 bucks a month. They’ll send you samples, based on your preferences, and sometimes full sized products. Stuff you can try that you probably never would find on your own, but you end up loving them. They’re great at promoting indie brands. I’ve gotten brushes and all kinds of shit from Ipsy that I love and still use. And a lot of the time those sample sizes last. You find you don’t really need full sizes. And you get to try cool shit. It’s like a present you get in the mail every month ;-) I’m not sure if they ship outside the US though. I’m sure they have great ones in other countries too. 

And then stuff like YouTube and Instagram can be a blessing and also a curse. They’re a rabbit hole. It’s where you get so much stuff thrown at you and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Also, a lot of the bigger YouTube “beauty gurus”, I don’t believe a lot of them are genuine, as they get paid big money to promote products. I’ve definitely bought a few things because of YouTube (like Morphe pallets) because of the hype and then end up hating them. 

But there’s definitely a few of the “beauty gurus” that I trust and I watch most of their videos. I shall link them.

Here is another fave channel, Jessica Braun. Love her. And she’s very honest. That’s her beginner drug store kit. 

And then my ALL-TIME fave makeup artist is Lisa Eldridge. She’s British. She will teach you about makeup. That woman is The Truth. I found her channel a few years ago and just binge-watched like some Netflix show ;-) She’s amazing. And her looks are never too crazy or out there. Because a lot of makeup looks from YouTube just are not wearable for every day. I love all her videos but here’s one of her more recent ones that I loved. She’s a makeup artist, so she uses mostly high-end makeup all the time, but most of what she uses probably has a drugstore dupe.

I can hardly believe that I did it tbh. It seems so unreal and it is so odd now not to have anything that big to write. I am free yet I feel some sort of melancholy when I think of it. And in front of me is a blank page, ready to be written. It is like looking at multiple paths all going to so many different places. I am relieved and yet I feel empty. But I am glad to say that I have another Vikings mermaid AU planned (on Ivar) and The Sword of Stones book 1 I can finally think about freely.

My piece of advice would be: keep going. Have faith and trust. Do not look at the work you have ahead of you, but the beautiful ending you’re going to give that story. Write one word at a time, the rest will come to you easily if you let it. Take breaks. It is important in your writing to rest your brain and when you are rested, you write better and faster. Do not lose your love for the fic and keep having fun writing it. If ideas pops up in your head, add them; the story will be richer and more fluid.

But do not lose courage. Always tell yourself “I can do it! It will be wonderful in the end and I will be proud of myself.”. I know I could have never done this without the support of my readers and my wonderful editor (now the baby’s yours! SUFFER!). I had a great period when I doubted my story and thought it was shit, but in the end I am proud of it because I think this is a well written fic.

Awwww. I’m not sure if I’m the best writer to give these pieces of advice. But, as my sister by heart entrusted me this question, I can’t disappoint, right? I’ll write about what works for me.

I think we can’t write without a base. So, find something that you want to talk about, that makes you happy. If it’s not your first language, don’t be afraid. I started learning English a little more than a year ago. In January of 2016. I’m so lucky and grateful that I only found gentle and supportive people here on Tumblr.

I was never bullied by my spelling, grammar or punctuation mistakes. And I can assure you all, that I have made, and still make, a lot of them. If someone is putting you down for your flaws, insecurities or mistakes, instead of helping you gently, stay away. It’s better to avoid toxic people.

I love researching almost as much as I love writing. So, when I feel like I’m running out of ideas, I start reading articles, searching for pictures and historical curiosities.

Reading - Reading books, fanfics and writing material of others might be a way to trigger your own ideas.

Watch something related to your theme. It’s another way to increase your creativity and overcome writer’s block. As I’m writing about Vikings, I usually rewatch my favorite episodes from the show, or the ones that the character I want to write about appears the most. Another movies with the theme help me as well.

Music - Some people prefer silence. But, I have a playlist that makes me think about my characters. Sometimes, a whole chapter can be inspired by one word or sentence.

And finally, write. If it’s not in your first language, and you are not sure about some words, write some of them in your own language, then search for the appropriate word later. I keep a notebook with notes and ideas for chapters, or I type them on my cell phone. If you have an idea, write it down as soon as possible, even if it’s not for your next chapter. You can fill the gaps later on. I have three chapters “in the future” of The Fox and The Maiden Fair.

No but for real, I love writing. Creating new characters with backstory and planning huge journeys ahead of them, building a universe, a language, a graphic and sound design; an identity to them is something that makes me feel happy. I love building and creating. I love writing. I love stories! I could spend the rest of my days writing stories and sharing them.

But I guess I also need this to fill a void in my life; to write all the lives I cannot live. Idk, I do not feel like living everyday, at my best I exist, but I do not live. I do not feel like I am real or that everything around me is real (a week ago I was convinced that I was dead and that everything around me was nothing but illusion...¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ); I do not feel like I am living my life and the only moments I feel living is when I write and read stories. It makes me breathe. It makes me at peace and it fills me with satisfaction. Idk I need this not to drown in unhappiness. I also need this to be kept busy and get rid of all the universes in my head.
