He knew he was gaining consciousness by the way he could hear the demon’s dark heart beating and the way the fel coursed through her veins. A pair of arms wrapped around him. Then another. He smiled as the shivarra traced her fangs along his arm. “I need to get going,” he whispered, knowing full well that she was going to start whining. 

And whine the demon did. “Stay here with me. Let’s do each other hard, like we did last night. Come on. Show me your wings.”

He chuckled and sighed, “Azalia, I need to go. I have things to do. Besides, won’t you be beaten if you don’t show up for your line up?”

“Like I care.” She said, rolling her eyes. Daidh had been sleeping with her for the past few months and she was already being targeted by the commanders. Nonetheless, they didn’t care. Azalia was more invested in the relationship than he was and while she sought to know why, he never told her.

He never told her that he longed for the red haired woman he left behind in Silvemroon, or how he left her the apartment and his things. Neither did the demon care to hear about that.

The demonhunter slipped out of bed and walked away. Azalia would be there later. That he knew. He readied himself and prepared to go to the city that was once home. His welcome mat would be limited, so he had to work fast. He touched the leather mask over his eyes and sighed. She wasn’t going to recognize him. His eyes gone, tattoos on his body, fel energy pulsing stronger within him. Horns. Daidh sighed and he placed the sleeveless leather jacket on. 

Sometime during the day, a dark rose was delivered to the Courier. From the shadows, Daidh watched closely, finally getting to see the woman who in his mind, urged him to keep going. 

Master Daidh,

In the instance you might find this, I must apologize over the abandonment of the suite you left me. In my exile from Silvermoon, I was forced to give up properties in the city that were put in my name. Much has changed, you can say.

I have fortunately left the care of it in the hands of a lovely Shaldorei woman and her young niece, named Serenith. I helped both to escape the perils of their former lives to find refuge in Silvermoon. I am glad that I could at least make this arrangement before the situation demanded I leave. They have agreed to of course sign it completely back into your name should you need  to reclaim it, and the life you left behind.

If my memory still keeps you grounded in whatever way it does, Daidh, I hope it is a memory that brings your home again, to a sense of normalcy. I hope it brings you back well.

" I got a new years smooch from you, dearest! So! Here is some girly roses for this holiday. -Thesa" 

Daidh looked at the flowers and grinned. "There's nothing girly about these. They're rather beautiful." He leaned in to smell the fragrant scent and he smiled. Roses always seemed to soothe the beast within.

He offers a smile. "Daidh Sadriaal." 

3. Do you know why you were called that?

"I forget the details, exactly, but I believe it had something to do with my father. Forgive me if I don't go ask him, but both my parents have passed. It will have to remain one of those lost mysteries.

4. Are you single or taken?

"I am currently single."

5. Have any abilities or powers?

"I am an instructor at the Sanctum, therefore, it is same to assume that I do have abilities in the dark arts, particularly in demonology, which has been my area of study for quite a while now." 

6. Stop being a Mary Sue.

"I'm sorry...I..excuse me?"

7. What’s your eye color?

He looks at the interviewer in disbelief. "Fel green. I.." He shakes his head.

8. How about your hair color?

His eyes gaze upward. "Brown...Really, if you look up, the answers are quite obvious."

9. Have you any family members?

"I do not believe so, although I may find a cousin out there if I really tried."

10. Oh? What about pets?

"No, I don not. I prefer to keep my home clean and not smelling of urine or feces. Or pet food."

11. That’s cool I guess, now tell me about something you don’t like.

"I do not like liars and those who manipulate others."

 12. Do you have any hobbies/activities you like doing?

"I tend a rather intricate rose garden upon a small terrace at my apartment. It's relaxing, really, and they make wonderful gifts. 

 13. Ever hurt anyone before?

"I try not to. I don't even hurt my students, which is usually encouraged. No, I prefer to find alternatives to hurting others."

14. Ever… Killed anyone before?

"That is something best discussed at another time. Next question, please."

15. What kind of animal are you?

He chuckles softly. "Animal? I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about." 

16. Name your worst habits.

"I tend to let others walk all over me. I attempt to keep the peace and that happens." 

17. Do you look up to anyone at all?

"I have not considered that question. I shall have to get back to you on that one."

18. Gay, straight, or bisexual?

"That's rather rude, don't you think? I do suppose I could say I prefer ladies. Does that sate your curiosity?"

19. Do you go to school?

"I believe I said I was a professor. In my line of work, one must continue learning. We never stop learning."

20. Do you ever want to marry and have kids one day?

He opens his mouth and stops. With a smile, he looks down at his violet cufflinks. "That is a very difficult question. There are many things to consider, especially knowing the art I specialize in. As for marriage...well, I'm not sure. I... I believe you should move on." 

21. Do you have any fanboys/fangirls?

"I'm sorry, I don't comprehend."

22. What are you most afraid of?

"I fear...what I could possibly become under the wrong circumstances..." 

23. What do you usually wear?

"You will usually find me in fine, tailored suits and ties. I will sometimes bypass the jacket and simply wear a silk vest. Rarely shall you find me in anything else. Except my teaching robes, of course, but that goes over your clothes."

24. Do you love someone?

"Love? I haven't spoken with someone enough to 'love'. That requires time and it hasn't happened."

25. When was the last time you wet yourself?

He stares at the interviewer. "I believe I have to go. This is ridiculous."

26. Well, it’s not over yet! …

"I suggest you speed this up, hm?"

27. What class are you? (High class, middle class, low class)

"I believe it's safe to say I have moved up to the high class." 

28. How many friends do you have?

He chuckles beneath his breath. "That's irrelevant."

29. What are your thoughts on pie? 

"Really?" He sighs. "It's fine." 

30. Favorite drink?

"A nice wine, a cup of coffee, or water."

31. What’s your favorite place?

"My rose garden. I have added a small bench there to simply sit and take in the scent."

32. Are you interested in someone?

He smiles warmly. "I...yes, I am."

33. What’s your bra size and/or how big is your willy.

"That question is extremely rude."

34. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?

"If I must, an ocean." 

35. What’s your type?

"I believe that is my personal business, thank you."

36. Any fetishes?

"Again, my personal business. If you're continue to press on, I shall simply walk up and leave."

"Yes, I believe this interview is over." He stands up and shakes his head.

"You know, you're lucky I haven't decided to punch you."

"Excuse me." He walks away, sighing and shaking his head.

The time was well past midnight and Daidh was staring at the dark ceiling. Something was keeping him up. Was it perhaps the coffee he drank a little too late? Or the days old chocolates he ended up eating? 

Or perhaps the intricately shaped eyes of the woman he had met a few days ago that kept him awake. He smiled. It was a chance meeting, but it felt good to meet someone else. His eyes closed as he recalled how ridiculous he must have looked when she mentioned that they should have coffee. He sighed and chuckled, shaking his head against the satin pillow. 

However, she showed interest in his hobby and without a second thought, he rolled out of bed and walked out to his garden. The night air was just a bit chilly, nothing that would make him uncomfortable as he stepped out in nothing else but his black silk pants. Daidh took a deep breath, inhaling the sweet aroma that surrounded him. He adored his roses and their scent simply put him in a calming trance. 

He picked up his shears and looked for a particular rose; one whose color and aroma would be unforgettable. A peach colored rose caught his eye and he smiled as he cut it, carefully pruning the thorns. He walked to his table and reached for a small velvet bag. Reaching into the bag, he took a pinch of powder, sprinkled it over the rose, and watched it glow faintly for a moment before the glow disappeared. 

Daidh examined the magically preserved rose and walked back into his apartment. A brief letter later and a ribbon to tie it together, he placed the gift in a slender box, summoned an imp, and ordered it to take the message to a mailbox. 

He then went back to bed. Work time was approaching and he wanted to speak to his dear friend once before they got started. There were some things Lexi had to know.

Dear Jaslarane,

I hope this parcel finds you well. I was thinking about that visit to my rose garden and so I figured I would be so bold as to send you one of my beautiful specimens. This rose was acquired in Hillsbrad. I found the original alone, surrounded by debris, so I rescued it and it has given me plenty of lovely offspring, this being one of them. Its aroma isn't too dominating, but it has a rather tantalizing appeal that makes one look twice. I dare say it reminded me of you. 

I hope our paths do meet again. I would really like that.

He walked toward the address in the letter and when he found the location, Daidh looked up at the building. He noticed the call box near the door and pressed the button, putting the letter back inside the coat pocket. He was exceptionally dressed today. Instead of simply wearing his vest and tie, he wore a black suit with a violet tie and the cufflinks Safrona had gifted him. He also had a small gift in his hand and he paced about waiting to be received. 

She had summoned him, and he did not hesitate to appear. While he looked calm on the outside, inside, he felt like a nervous wreck, but he maintained his composure.

A gentleman always did.

Daidh gently cupped her cheek, staring at her face adoringly. His fingers then trailed toward her neck as he leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Allow me be yours, little rose." Lips moved up the the length of her ear, finishing with a gentle kiss before carefully placing his forehead against hers.

The grand fountain of the Court of the Sun blotted out the soft sound of Daidh’s whisper, but she did not need sound to know what the Sanctum Instructor was asking of her. She had his eyes to speak their wish for her to yield, his fingers to convey the affection, his breath to warm her skin with his yearning. Eyes closed, breath halting as he moved his lips against her ear. Such ears, too sensitive. It was unfair.

Warmth. This closeness, it was too easy to fall into.

"Daidh…" she whispered as his forehead met hers, and the answer was his fingers cupping the back of her head, tilting her for a soft touch of lips. A taste. Her lips quivered at the passing of breath between them, and his mouth came again to gently quell the shake.

To…be hers…

To be…who’s? To belong to whom? 

A vessel of flesh. 

This was…instinct, nothing more.

A lie built upon another’s flesh.

Her lips parted from the gentle pull of his, her fingers curled in Daidh’s collar to silently ask for him to yield.

"Safrona…"

She chuckled mirthlessly as she looked into hopeful emerald eyes, a somberness dulling her own. Even the name was a lie. A sigh, and the Courier gently patted Daidh’s cheek, her face returning to its numb mask.

"You should belong to no one, Master Daidh. No one but yourself," she spoke quietly as she gently excused herself from the bench.

"You should know that well as an Instructor, I imagine."

Daidh watched her walk away, pressing his lips together, seeking that final haunting, lingering sensation. For a moment, he lost his breath and his voice. His mind struggled with her words. He longed to pursue her, but then he couldn’t move either because he was still in shock or because he figured she wanted to be alone.

He sighed and rose, adjusting his vest before walking away. He had to think. He had to wonder. He had to decide how much he desired this woman and what he was willing to do.
