i think arven is absolutely secure enough in his gender to wear skirts occasionally. like at the start of his transition it would've been an absolute no, but as he gets settled on T and particularly after he has top surgery he adds a few skirts to his wardrobe. they are all required to have pockets, ya boy has shit to carry, but he likes pleated skirts and loose flowy skirts the best so he can move around in them and go on walks

clavell is a ride or die arven in a skirt supporter and he will personally murder you give you a telling off if you get funny about it. arven finds it kind of sweet but also a little embarrassing. clavell will defend his right to wear a skirt to the death, and sometimes he helps arven choose what skirt to wear next (neither of them have good taste in fashion some of the skirts arven has are Right Out There)

Although he had acted all bombastic about it at the time, Arven had not taken the confirmation of his mother’s death well. Not even Mabosstiff comfort him through the grief, and him and Clavell certainly hadn’t been as close as they were now. He remembered hiding away after receiving his exam results at the end of the year, deeply ashamed and terrified that Clavell would kick him out for failing his exams. Clavell had found him crying on the stairs, but instead of a lecture he got an arm around his shoulder, a handkerchief pressed into his hand, and reassurances that it would be alright, there were always retakes, and that he always had a place in Clavell’s home as long as he needed it.

asdhfjgfks i just really like the idea that arven doesn't graduate the year he goes to area zero, like the poor bean has so much going on. clavell takes him in and encourages him to get all the credits needed for graduation and arven is v much like "haha i can totally do that" but internally he is full of doubt, and then failing his classes and not getting to graduate just confirms all the worst feelings he's got, and he's just dead terrified that clavell will kick him to the curb just like his mother did

and clavell finds him after hours crying on the stairwell and his heart just breaks. the idea of arven thinking he would hate him because of his grades is abhorrent to him, and clavell absolutely just comforts him, like yes this sucks but you've had one hell of a year, you've always got a place here with me, i know you can do this, we'll just try again next year
