Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers and father-like figures. Give them a hug if you can. My father died when I was little so my mom had to be both mom & dad. I never got to know my dad or hear his stories. I found this photo of him at a BC JCCA conférence & it looks like he is representing Slocan City. My uncle George is the little boy in a photo of the Royston Mill children at the Cumberland Museum. Big shout out to everyone at Miners Memorial this weekend. This was just a quick shot that I took when Courtney and I were testing all our holiday bulbs to see which ones still worked. But then I noticed the familiar skeleton sitting there. This particular skeleton once belonged to my father and was a gift from my sister. My father ended up keeping this skeleton in his hallway year round, even after its motion-activation stopped working. My father said it was to frighten off burglars, although I’d like to think my dad just liked having it around. Since my father’s passing in 2008, I took the skeleton home with me and proudly display it somewhere in my house from mid-September until January 1st. So if you’re lucky enough to score an invite to our home haunt this year (or if by some stroke of luck, we’re allowed to gather together for the holidays), keep an eye out for him.
