I think that everyone's father is distant, maybe? and the daughters that think they know them, are just deluded because the skin their fathers slip on when they walk through the door is not the skin they wear for the outside world like they are physically someone else not this giant, immobile force not this or maybe that's just my dad. I'd like to think it was your dad too because nobody wants to feel like their daddy is a skin sack and nobody wants to feel like their daddy is a mountain and i look at all these skinny hipster boys and think: my daddy could roll you and smoke you, and you wanna touch me? I can break your hand, boy I can break your mind, boy and the sad truth of it is that my dad was always like the ocean the more i reached, the more he pulled back the turf and salt mixing into bruised knuckles cause i don't cry about it anymore, i'm not six damn it i'm not naive or lost i'm a mountain of my own but shhh, don't tell i stole his wool gloves even though they're scratchy and the fingertips are too big for my child hands and they're so worn they're coming apart at the seams,

The Kid Icarus blog started as a joke to passive-aggressively tease my mom about her penchant for over-protectiveness while I was pregnant. That only lasted for about 3 posts.

I work full-time and miss my kid like crazy all day. But I don't think I could pull off staying home.

I have run 8 marathons and it is killing me that I am not running consistently right now.

I stumbled into the Tumblr parent community by accident. Before I was pregnant (& wasn't even considering kids), I saw a DaddyComplex post under the LOL tag. I thought he was funny so I started following him.

It has taken me 3 days to write this reply.

Music, music, music. And especially live music. We went to somewhere around 15 concerts while I was pregnant. But I am not really all that knowledgeable about music. I just listen to what I like. I can't play an instrument (but wish I could) or carry a tune.

Lists. I have lists everywhere. I should make a list of my lists.

Camping!

Reading. Although these days I don't get much time for it. In the last six months I have only finished two of the book club books that we picked.

Traveling for an event (road race, bike ride, etc.) and turning it into a vacation.

The song "Feed the World". Mostly for the line "Do they know it's Christmastime?". Maybe they don't give a sh!t that it's Christmas because not everyone celebrates Christmas, you nimrods.

Valentine's Day

My own tendency toward procrastination.

Public Speaking. I should have gotten over it by this point in my life but I doubt that I could read aloud to a group of kindergarteners.
