“Dad, please try to focus on the mission instead of embarrassing me”
Criston always looking for his Babymond:
# The world is on fire; everyone is losing their minds; and Criston Cole is just there believing in his (crazy) baby boy.
# He doesn't know it's the last time he'll ever see him.
he’s NOT playing about his crazy babyboy.
aemond's "ride or die" dad.
At some point, Otto and Alicent sent Criston to study with the maester in the same class as Aemond and Aegon so that he could learn to write before he ascended to the post of Lord Commander.
So the three of them sat at the same desk: thirteen-year-old Aegon, Criston, who is in his early thirties, and ten-year-old Aemond.
Aegon: psst, hey, Aem! did you do your homework? Aemond, categorically: i won't let you copy. Criston, fatally: i didn't do it either… Aemond: *immediately hands over all his notes, even for the assignments that aren't due yet*
Aegon: … Criston, since you've already done, can I copy yours? Criston: of course *hands over his parchment* Aemond: >:C Criston: noo, don't look at me like this. you know very well that I cannot refuse any of you.
Aemond: :C Criston: well... how about I show you a sword move that your brother isn’t familiar with as payment for this? Aemond: C:

I was so saddened by the fact that Criston would be forced to leave Aemond to join Daeron, whom he never got to see, unfortunately, that… I absolutely didn't expect the writers wouldn't allow Criston to meet up with EVEN AEMOND one last time.
AS IT WAS IN THE DAMN BOOK.
I even accepted the fact that Criston's idea to join Daeron would be given to Gwayne, but then I would have gotten Criston's internal conflict between his attachment to Aemond and the duty. AND NOW EVEN THAT WON'T HAPPEN.
Will they make Criston believe that Aemond abandoned their army after he wouldn't let Gwayne's doubts kill his faith in the prince?
I don't even know what's worse: if Criston thinks that Aemond is fine but broke his promise, or if he finds out that Aemond kept it but is on the verge of death? oh god..
Nahh, Criston's heart simply won't survive a second blow. an early death for him is truly a blessing so he doesn't have to watch how, one by one, the princes and the king die at such a young age, with the scars of war on their souls and bodies.
