First and foremost, I am most hoping that 2015 will be Colin’s breakout year. He has enough projects coming into play now and ones on the back burner or in production that I really think it could happen.

With Good Omens about to be released on CD, The Fall Series 2 now available in the USA on Netflix, and Testament of Youth out in UK theatres (and Sony has picked it up for release in North and Latin America), a wider audience outside of the UK will be exposed to Colin, perhaps for the first time. 

Then we have Humans, which will be a simultaneous release in both the UK and the USA. This show really has the potential of catapulting Colin to stardom, depending on how well received the show is and how much screentime he actually has. I know in the Swedish version, he is considered one of the main characters, but who knows what they’re doing in this adaptation. 

So, what would I like to see him in this year?

Well, for things that I think are a realistic possibility:

The Fall, Series 3 (Oh, please let Tom have survived Series 2! I’d like to see the fallout from the finale, please!)

Humans, Series 2 (Oh please let Leo have survived Series 1! Stop dying in all your projects, Colin!)

San Diego Comic Con 2015 (with the cast of Humans)

Probably a slew of interviews/press junket for Humans.

Colin being cast in a film (other than The Rising) where he is either the lead or one of the main supporting actors.

Colin being cast in a lead role in a West End play. (It’ll be well over a year since he’d last trod the boards by the time he’s available after Humans and The Rising…I could see him wanting to do some theatre.)

Things that are less likely, but I would give a body part to see happen:

Colin to record an audiobook, ANY audiobook, preferably in his native Northern Irish accent. Good GOD I would die.

Colin to be nominated for an award again. While I think he’s got more than enough talent, I’m not sure if anything he’s in to date would merit a nod, unless it’s late in the year for his work in Humans.

Colin to be cast as the lead in a large production film. Could happen, but it might be a tiny bit premature unless the stars align and he really knocks their socks off in his audition.

Colin to take a role on Broadway. He’s definitely good enough, but I’m not sure I can see him coming to New York to work when he’s almost a shoo in for starring roles in London’s West End, which is just as prestigious.

Colin to produce something. Anything. Honestly, I think he’s still much too much in actor mode right now to consider this, but I’d be fascinated by the choices he’d make as a producer or director.

Colin to give another serious, thought-provoking interview ala Alison Jane Reid. God, I would love to learn more about the serious side of this very enigmatic man, but I think he’d have to be inordinately comfortable with his interviewer in order to do that again, and I honestly don’t see it happening.

As things go, Colin is probably going to be pretty busy up through about June (with Humans still filming and The Rising presumably after that), so we’ll have to see how many things he has time to fit in this year. But he did manage to fit in seven actual projects in 2014: Mojo, Testament of Youth, The Fall, Legend, Addicts’ Symphony, Good Omens, and Humans. (Why do I still feel like I’m missing something? Quirke and The Tempest were actually shot in 2013, so those don’t count)
