Izzy Major, interviews actress  Denise Armstrong about her role in Unsung, a play about Liverpool’s slavery abolitionist Edward Rushton. They talk about declining roles for deaf actresses, Edward Rushton and the unique character Mossop.

I was commissioned by deaf and disabled arts organisation DaDaFest to work with disabled comedian Laurence Clark to produce artwork as part of the "Niet Normaal" exhibition in Liverpool, at The Bluecoat.

Adapted from a landmark Dutch exhibition, Niet Normaal (a popular phrase literally translated as ‘not normal’, but also meaning ‘cool’) features work in a variety of media.

The Niet Normaal: Difference on Display exhibition asks the question: what is normal and who decides. It aims to examine the world we build together, one not always as inclusive and democratic as we would wish for.

The work is pretty large so I won't give too much away here because it's best viewed in person. The exhibition is free to enter, it's right off the high street in Liverpool center and there's all these other international artists to check out too...
