For a man my dad gives me too much advice about being a woman
My dad made claims that I don't care about anything today, granted he was venting at the time but it still got under my skin, thus I'm venting here.
I wish I didn't care about anything, it would solve most of my problems.
Just earlier I spent 15 or so minutes talking to a rubber duck(apparently programmers talk to rubber ducks when stuck on problems and I figured what is the mind if not a complicated program) because I couldn't bring myself to make myself dinner because people had offered to get me dinner, and I couldn't ask someone to bring me some dinner because I didn't want to inconvenience someone.
Another time I walked basically across the (granted small) city I live in with a sizable bag because my brain was convinced it would be rude to ask for a ride.
Another time at the apartment I was living in at the time with my mom we didn't have power so my sister had asked one of the neighbors if we could have stuff cooked over there sometimes and they said yes. So fast forward to the first time I have to make a meal and all we have is stuff that needs cooked. I grab a small cup of mac and cheese and proceed to spend the next hour debating with myself the pros and cons of asking them if they could boil up some water for me and potentially being rude vs starving. Eventually I gathered up the courage to knock on the door, to be answered by someone I saw in the hall awhile ago while I was trying to build up my courage.
Another time I got something stuck in my foot(I think it was a splinter never learned for certain) and it hurt bad but I didn't tell anyone. At first it was not wanting to worry people over nothing but over time it became an experiment to see how long I could go on limping from foot pain before someone asked. It went on for months atleast. I no longer feel it and thus no longer limp and no one has asked about why I did. My mom did comment on my toe walking like always but not the limp.
Tried to explain to my dad that Trump's idea of healthcare will mean I can be denied insurance. His response "that's why I didn't want you doing all of this diagnosis stuff." So helpful dad. Seriously. Wow. So insightful. I then explained that my insomnia is a pre-existing condition and am fucked regardless. He didn't have anything to say and walked away. Good talk, dad.
