Tiny patter of feet was not something Junhui was used to waking up, infact his son would usually be screaming and running around the house by the time Jun had woken up.
Today was a special day though, and Jun knew that. He had promised Zhangwei that he'd take him out to the amusement park today, adding on that his favourite uncle Soonyoung would be tagging along making the toddler even happier.
There were not many days that Jun had gotten free after his now 2 year old son was born. In fact he had almost missed the birth of his first child, feeling apologetic to his wife a lot even though he had made it just in time to hear the first cry.
Between travelling a lot because of his group's schedule and constantly having to wake up early and leave for work, also coming home late made him feel bad for not getting enough time to spend time with his lovable son.
Zhangwei was at an age where it didn't really matter to him that his father didn't spend as much time with him as his mother did, but it was still an issue for Jun who could take a breath of relief when their month long break after touring was announced. He was eager to spend time with his son, so much that he couldn't stop talking about it even after his son had fell asleep, lovingly whispering it in his ear as he slept, caressing his head as he smiled his happiest smile in some time.
Zhangwei creeped into his parents' room, giggling softly as he saw Junhui fresh out of sleep, hair in all directions already sitting up and rubbing at his eyes. The toddler climbed up the bed and settled in his father's lap, snuggling into his chest as he automatically closed his eyes, clutching Junhui's sweatshirt with his tiny hands.
Junhui happily held his son, letting him fall back asleep in his arms, not worried about rushing since the sun wasn't out yet. He got up with Zhangwei, carrying him out of the room silently, making sure not to make a sound so his wife could keep sleeping peacefully, heading straight to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for himself and his son, remembering to prepare some for his wife too since he knew they would have left by the time she woke up.
Junhui managed to keep his son sleeping throughout the time he made breakfast, but huffed at the end at how hard it was to try to cook while holding a child, his whole arm already feeling on fire after holding Zhangwei for almost an hour, sighing in relief when he settled on the dinner table after setting up the food, Zhangwei slowly rousing from his sleep, trying to hide his face in his dad's neck to sleep again but Junhui put the boy on his high chair, facing towards him and trying to wake him up properly with kisses and the bribe of food.
The mention of food woke Zhangwei right up, much to Jun's amusement, three different little bowls filled with all the foods he had for breakfast. Carrot and potato puree along with eggs and a bit of the sausages for taste and the little man would be fulfilled until noon.
Junhui fed his son along with eating himself, Zhangwei leaning forward and trying to grab his own food when his father was even a bit too late. He checked the time again and quickly finished his left overs, letting Zhangwei eat the eggs happily as he washed the utensils quickly and cleaned up the kitchen, grabbing his son to go clean up and get dressed so they could leave.
Another hour later and with the sun out now, the two Chinese spice lovers left the house, getting straight into the car to go pick up Soonyoung who had called Jun twice already in excitement.
Junhui smiled widely as he saw a bundled up man run up to his car, opening the door and getting inside quickly, only after taking of his face mask as he immediately turned back, cooing loudly at his grinning son.
"Kwon Soonyoung, as expected, just ignoring your best friend for his own son." Junhui teased, making Soonyoung pout as he leaned to hug his best friend, making Jun grin and return the hug. Zhangwei babbled loudly from the back seat, using his limited vocabulary to immediately start a conversation with Soonyoung.
The drive to the park consisted of Soonyoung talking in a baby voice gently with Zhangwei, switching from Korean to Chinese often when the young boy did not understand a word spoken by his uncle. Junhui smiled at those moments, touched that his best friend learned Chinese so diligently so he could communicate with his young son who had a wider vocabulary in Chinese then Korean. Zhangwei was a happy baby and it showed as he wiggled along and clapped his hands happily whenever he recognized songs from Seventeen playing on the speakers.
Even though they'd reached fairly early, the two and a half men stood in line for almost half an hour, Zhangwei refusing to get down from his uncle Soonyoung's shoulders even after they finally got inside, the winter sun warming them up just a bit.
Jun finally managed to get Zhangwei off of Soonyoung's shoulders and into his arms when he saw a smiling Soonyoung roll his shoulders gently, probably trying to release the stress in them for holding Zhangwei up there. The little boy was eager to be put down and started wiggling as soon as he saw an old lady selling cotton candy in her cart.
Junhui let him down, watching as the boy waddled his way happily to the old lady, freezing in front of her now that he had managed to reach her, unsure of what to say as he just stared widely at her and shyly pointed at the cotton candy in her arms, making grabby hands.
Soonyoung laughed and captured the moment on his phone, showing it to Junhui who smiled just as widely, walking to his son and squatting down besides him, whispering in his ears loudly to verbally ask the cooing old lady for the cotton candy, making the toddler repeat the words his father said in Korean to the lady, making all three adults laugh, the old lady quickly making up the cotton candy for the boy and hand it to him, Junhui handing the woman money and bowing slightly respectfully, telling his son to thank her, chuckling when he whispered the words, too busy eating the sugar clouds, thanking the lady herself and picking the boy up, walking away with Soonyoung who was eager to start having fun already.
The day went on pretty fast, Jun and his son on the same level of excitement by the time it was evening as they stood in line for the ferris wheel, Zhangwei giggling happily and bouncing in his father's arms, making Jun laugh as well, Soonyoung just looking at them both with wide grins, wishing for the days where he could be like that with his child too.
Slowly and slowly, the ferris wheel reached the top, giving a chance to the three to view the beautiful lights of the amusement park, the twinkling making Zhangwei squeal happily and clap his hands, Junhui clicking plenty of pictures of both the lights and his son and Soonyoung as they stared out of the window.
He couldn't wipe the smile off his face even after going home and getting in bed with his wife, softly whispering to her and telling her all about their day, their son long asleep between them. He sleepily replied to his wife when she told him she had something happy to tell him too, passing out due to exhaustion, his hand that was previously patting his son's stomach now resting on it.
