Diamonds are worthless.
This video is probably what really threw me over the edge and got me wanting to start blogging. I am not a "writer" but I did graduate college so my grammar should be fairly accurate (venting about college in another blog). This video, however, really made me think about why we do the things we do. Buying engagement rings, for instance...I don't need a man to buy me a ring to tell me how much he loves me. It's basically bribing a woman to marry you. Oh wait, it is. Would you say yes to a man who proposes without a ring? I know most would say no, but think about it...you're basically telling him "no, I need you to buy me a diamond to tell me how much I'm worth" or "no, because society tells me that I need a ring to be rightfully engaged to you."  It doesn't make any sense. I'd want to marry someone because I love them with or without a ring.  In today's society, if a woman were to get engaged or married without a ring people would question it.  Why? If two people love each other why should anything else matter? And why should the man even buy a woman an engagement ring? Because society says so? I understand if you do it because YOU want to, but I also don't think one should judge others if a couple decides not to follow the traditional path that society sets forth. Be open minded. Do what YOU want to do and not because society says so. Â
