This project was an interesting one for me because it was quite challenging in the beginning to come up with technology/inventions that could effectively address the needs of women. I learned a lot from working with my group members and got the opportunity to listen to the wonderful ideas that the other groups had. It is indeed true that there are very few technology made with women in mind. Hopefully, the knowledge we have gained from this class would empower some of us ,if not all to go into the real world and cause a great change to take place.

Professor Brewer is a really good story-teller who uses the stories to teach important lessons. I learnt that it is important to know oneself for better decision making . I also like that she pointed out the importance of listening to others and reflecting because it is by doing these things that problems are solved. Sometimes, we just need to step back from everything going on around us to really have a clearer picture of how our lives are going and how we can fix the problems in our lives. 

Hopefully, more and more women will be found in the field of journalism and be able to contribute influentially to society and the world at large.

This past Wednesday’s plenary really encouraged me to be open to taking risks.Wendy’s ability to have worked for 105 hours in the office reinforces the saying that “hard work breaks no bones”. Her dad’s inability to express his admiration/ pride in her might be quite common among other dads especially those who were brought up in a way that did not allow them to show vulnerability or express their emotions . Last of all, I believe the speaker used her experiences very effectively into helping her achieve her goals later in life. Even though she did not understand at her young age why she had to make certain decisions, it was worth going through it as it gave her invaluable skills that set her apart from her colleagues. I hope I can use my past experiences to shape my future goals effectively like she did.
