I looked through your blog and couldn't find the answer to this question, so I apologize if I missed it. How do you find the descriptions of characters in the dao toolset? And dialogue trees?
So character notes can actually be found in two different places; in their chr file and in the Conversation Synopsis in their dlg file. (Which is where you can view the dialogue trees.)
Click on the Characters icon (the little grey head)
Find a character either looking through the folders manually or using the search field
Double-click on the resource to view a read-only copy, or right-click and chooseĀ āopen local copyā to see full details easier but without making any permanent changes
There are two tabs: Properties and Medium/Major. Some characters have more detailed notes than others.
(Please note though that these are notes through the development process, and therefore some contradictions with the finished game. For example, Alistairās chr notes says heās 32 years old when canonically he is way younger than that. So, my rule of thumb when looking at game files is if thereās something that doesnāt match up with in-universe lore, I go with the in-universe lore.)
Click on the Conversations icon (the little speech bubble)
Find a character either looking through the folders manually or using the search field - please note that some characters have more than one dlg file, while others have all conversations in one
Double-click on the resource to view a read-only copy
Branches have plus signs next to them to go down those conversation routes. You can click on them one at a time, or right-click on the branch and chooseĀ āExpand Branchā to expand the whole tree
When you see a line greyed out, it means itās a link that is redirecting elsewhere in the conversation with matching blue text
Under the Conversation Synopsis thereās sometimes more character notes.
