7. What was the most embarrassing moment in your muse’s life?

Embarrassment and humiliation are too closely related for Dane so, thinking in those terms, it would have to be abandoning the Olympics. He’s never felt more humiliated than when he told his mother he was leaving the sporting world behind for “the military” and “a life of worthwhile action” and she lost it in front of the Olympic scouts.

28. What is the most common lie your muse tells themselves?

That all this work is for others and not for some personal gain, though it’s clearly charged by his need to be forgiven by the creatures he’s hurt. It’s very easy for Dane to fall into the guilt complex trap he’s created for himself.
