#d&d basic set

First off, I love that when Eddie was teasing her about her class and level that he said "level one Dwarf." That's some nice attention to detail, because while in every other edition of D&D race and class are a separate thing, in the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set (1977) they actually combined race and class in a sort of weird way. A human could be a Cleric, a Fighter, a Magic User, or a Thief, but Dwarves, Elves, and Halflings were all considered their own separate class. I thought that was pretty cool, since it's a dig not only at her age but also that she plays D&D with the Basic Set. Kind of elitist, Eddie.

Now here's where it gets messier. Erica Sinclair said Lady Applejack was a level 14 chaotic good half-elf rogue, which can't be correct because the Rogue as a class wasn't introduced to D&D until Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition, published in 1989. Based on the description given it's more likely that she's actually playing a Thief with the Assassin subclass from AD&D.
