It wasn’t rare for Riri to lose track of time down in the labs. On the contrary, it was rare for her to manage to keep track of what time it was. Honestly, she was lucky if she knew what day it was! That being said, skipping meals was a pretty unfortunate side effect of the lost time. Often, Riri wouldn’t realize she’d gone too long without eating until hunger pains pulled her from her work, reminding her that her body relied on food in order to operate even if her mind would much rather concentrate on the bits and pieces spread out in front of her.
She wasn’t sure how long she’d been working when a box of takeout suddenly appeared in her line of vision, between her and the arc reactor she’d been working on. She blinked, a little surprised at the sudden appearance, and squinted at the food. Slowly, her eyes moved from the box to the hand that was holding it, which she followed up the wrist and onto the arm until she finally found the person’s face. Recognizing Pepper, she smiled. “Hey, Pepper!” She greeted cheerfully, bringing a hand up to her face to wipe the sweat from her forehead and leaving a smear of grease in its place. “You brought food?” Her stomach growled as if on cue, reminding Riri that yes, food was important.
