Alpine Lily Dings was born into a friendly family. She was a sweet child, but grew into a bitter woman. Her sister,Arial Lupine Dings, was sweet, all through life, even into adulthood. Alpineâs bitterness kept her from finding love, while her sister easily did so,but her gentle heart was often taken advantage of.Alpine finally found a man,the same time Arial did,it being both womanâs final one. Alpine dated and soon married Vincent McGhanheart,a gruff, burly skeleton monster, whom, despite both their bitter natures, got along well and mellowed one another out, while Arial dated and married Ghram Stonesman,a local blacksmith with a heart of gold.
Both enjoyed their marriages, and soon found themselves pregnant, both giving birth to boys,Alpine naming her son Cyratius Charles Dings, and Arial naming hers Cerious Vilanthy Gaster. The two were very handsome babies, and they enjoyed one anotherâs company, from how they cried when they had to be separated. They were forced underground not too long afterward, but that hardly stopped the two women, and their families.Alpine and Arial arranged play-dates often,since they wouldnât stop crying when separated, the years going by like this, until they were both two.
Alpineâs marriage with Vince began to get rocky, the two often shouting and fighting, even doing so at their poor son, even if it wasnât his fault. They somehow both came to start taking their anger out upon their son, doing anything in their power to make him miserable, while they themselves became happier, and relaxed in the evening when they left Cyratius alone to do whatever outside.
Arial noticed that with each play-date,her nephew was getting skinnier, his outgoing nature withdrawing,it getting to the point where Cerious noticed, the three year old asking if his cousin was alright. She assured him he was, before leaving the two to play, going to speak to Alpine. Alpine denied anything, saying he was simply becoming shy her husband agreeing. She wasnât convinced, but couldnât prove anything,so she dropped it.However, when Cyratius and Cerious had their fifth birthdays, about a week or two after they turned five,Arial noted how her nephew refused to do anything, even with his cousin, unless it was sitting and hugging, she and her son confused. She tried asking what was wrong, but he refused to speak, simply asking for some snacks, and a cup of apple juice. She and Cerious noted how he simply seemed to spiral as the years passed, getting thinner and thinner, barely any muscle on him when he turned thirteen,Cerious refusing to leave Cyratius alone much at all, constantly by his side no matter what.He started telling her how he thinks Cyratiusâs family must be abusing him in some way, they only talking about it once said monster had fallen asleep,he relaying to her that after Alpineâs husband died in the war,heâd noticed more harm showing up upon his cousinâs body. She relayed that they canât assume that Alpine was harming Cyratius, but she didnât doubt her sister was doing something to the poor child, since it couldnât be a coincidence that he got worse once her nephewâs father died. But they couldnât do anything, without proof.
Cerious joined the guard at sixteen,Arial proud of her son,she making sure to invite Cyratius over constantly, just for some rest and something to eat, since he still didnât seem to be getting better, even if heâd started gaining a bit of weight. She and Cerious were worried for him,her son constantly dropping by to check up on him, even during his patrol hours, just to make sure he was safe.Even if he seemed skittish and paranoid, any sudden movements making him flinch,or back away swiftly in fear. They moved slowly around him,to not startle him,and make sure he felt safe and secure with them.
Arial thought she and Cerious were doing good, were making progress, when Cyratius became a bit calmer around them after a while. She didnât expect, two years later,to be staring into the crazed eyelights of her nephew, covered in blood and dust, his form looming over her own, clearly ready to strike, but hesitating. She knew what he was doing. Finally lashing out, from all those years of pain and sufferingâŚâŚShe brought a hand up,wiping a drop of blood from his cheekbone, knowing she couldnât,and wouldnât stop him, softly telling him that she loves him,and forgives him for what he was doing. She just wanted him to know that, and relay to Cerious that she loved him too.She hardly felt those claws strike her body, before she faded to dust.
Alpine, the first of the mass killing spree, hadnât expected it,not from the son sheâd beaten down and abused for years, that maniac grin and wild gazeâŚ.she finally knew that behind that exterior,a monster was brewing within.Sheâd created this creature before her, whoâs claws were sunk into her skull as she screamed, body being torn to shreds by the right hand, his sickening, insane cackling the final thing she heard before her soul shattered, killing her.The entire underground was wiped out,Cerious the only one left aside from who had been doing all the killing,he finally catching up to who he knew did it,and watching the final monster die at Cyratiusâs hands. His cousin was battered and worn out, panting heavily as he turned and approached, finally calm and done, falling to his knees before him.Tears welled up in all four of those sockets, even if one didnât work, spilling down his face as a choked sob escaped his throat.âKill me. Please.â
It didnât even take a thought.âNo.âHe helps Cyratius to his feet, where his cousin breaks down and hugs him, sobbing into his shoulder, relaying what his mother had said,he feeling a few tears of his own slip down his face.âI forgive you,you stupid, irrational idiot.â
He knows Cyr wonât know why he didnât kill him,or why he was forgiven, but he didnât need to know,as long as he tried to better himself, now that he was free of his wretched mother.
Why did he spare him,and forgive him?
Because he refused to hate him,to give up on him, even when he himself had. Cyratius could be better, and would be better. He knows it.
He knows his cousin well.
