INTRODUCTION: hey everyone, its me, your host @/crystalcider otherwise known as cynn. i'm a fairly new writer in all fandom spaces, but as for the sturniolo triplets? i've been around a bit, but never really knew when to make a splash in the sturniolo fandom specfically. i wanted to make a good impression, and find a way to bring people together for something positive, and thus SUMMER OF STURNIOLO was born !
WHAT'S SOS ( SUMMER OF STURNIOLO ) ? : summer of sturniolo was born out of a need to have a place to put my creativity, as well as wanting to bring sturnblr closer together. summer of sturniolo (shortened to sos) is a summer writing event where i will be debuting my sturniolo triplet writings AND inviting other writers to join! think of a xmas writing event, or kinktober, it'll feature writings themed around a certain season, except this time, it'll be summer. that's right, anything summer related goes, so go crazy! i'll be debuting 4 au's :
LIFE IN CHERRYWOODS, CALIFORNIA: a reality tv show au about 10 20-something descendants of actors, celebrities & musicans are hand picked to live together for the entire summer, in an attempt to show the world they're more than just nepo babies
BOY NEXT SHORE : a the summer i turned pretty inspired chratt au
THE COAST OF CALYPSO : an island matt au featuring a charming view on island life and a clandestine mystery that incloses it
ESTEVILLE, KA: inspired by skins, uk au: a group of 20-somethings and tales about their stumbling and falls from grace into adulthood and 'maturity'
and the best part? all long fics. promised romance. thrill. adventure. mystery, juicy drama, and of course summer flings.
now, that's just what i'm bringing, but the question is what are you bringing to blow us all out of the water? all writers are encouraged to join, i'd love to see people join in with their own summer-influenced twist on fics! and in fact, they'll be suprises floating around sturnblr soon, actually, maybe as you're reading this right now, hiding in your inbox, or a friend, or a friend of a friends. i want you in, summer's known for being a time to cool off, and there's no pressure, no competition, just a way for writers to come together and beat the heat (or not), or maybe get steamy (lol)
SOUNDS COOL, HOW DO I JOIN ? : it's simple, if you see details on summer of sturniolo, and wanna join in to write. or, you want in on the fun just to read and support, you can send me an ask or comment requesting to be tagged!
IF YOU'RE A WRITER: if you have an idea you wanna create for this event, send me an ask as stated above, and state what day you'd like to debut, official start date is june 15th, i won't put an end date yet, depending on how many people join. but, i'll be adding everyone to an SOS lineup, similar to coachella, to know who's posting when, so readers have an easier time keeping up. and so the event stays streamlined.
IF YOU'RE A READER: just follow the above instructions and send asks to be tagged or for more details if you're curious!
*if you're both, it's double the fun!
WHEN IS IT? AND WHERE CAN I GET DETAILS ? : ah, the best part, summer doesn't have to end, does it? summer of sturniolo is all. summer. long. but dates and details may change, depending on who or how many people join. you can get details from me, your host cynn! who'll be guiding and maintaining this event. the original plan for the event was a month long, but if everyone wants it to go on longer than that, it will!
WHAT ARE THE RULES + GUIDELINES ? : well i'm glad you asked, they're placed down here and sorted based on certain criteria!
FOR WRITERS : this event is a writing event, so obviously writing is required, but here's the nitty gritty
ONE: no diving in the kiddie pool! this is an 18+ EVENT ONLY, let's make that clear
TWO: the reason for the first rule is because all writings are allowed: smut, angst, fluff etc. so with that being said, rules on what can and cannot be written should be pretty clear: anything you would see in a typical writers rules about general NO NO's apply here, shouldn't have to spell them out. no incest, scat, non-con, -18 etc. yeah, you know the rules
THREE: minimum writing wc is 500, there's no maximum, feel free to go crazy! longfics and shortfics are encouraged, au's, !readers, oc's, anything! creativity is key! just NO AI!!
FOUR: when entering the event: make sure to state these key things: who you're writing for, what slot you want, and the name/title of your fic, au, drabble etc, so i can make a masterlist on each sturniolo and whos writing for them! so that way, readers can keep up even when they missed a day, and its easy to look back on in the future!
FIVE: when tagging, tagging #SUMMER OF STURNIOLO or #SUMMER OF STURN 26' or something similar could help readers, other writers and myself find & keep track of posts!
SIX : once a date has been chosen, try to pick a different one! so everyone has a day to shine! (i dont think this will be an issue but just in case) if all dates are full, feel free to pick one that has the least on a specific date
FOR READERS : this should be a given, but its an 18+ EVENT!! this applies to readers as well, this is absolutely a MINORS DNI situation, i should not see any minors and if i do i'm blocking on sight
with all that being said, what are you waiting for? join in on the fun!

CYNN CHATS: I am SO excited, idk what it is about this series / au i love so much, probably because its something really out of my 'realm' of writing but something new can always be good to keep you creative! anyway, i love my girl val so much she's honestly the heart of this story, i hope you guys like her too!
this is a vent post so make sure to uh...scroll I guess if you don't wanna get into all that
i can't believe i have to keep saying this, but i'm BEYOND fed up by it. I am an MDNI account which includes ageless blogs and I do not want you interacting with me. I do not want you here. I've said this what feels like a thousand times but it's beyond fucking disrespectful people continue to stomp over my boundaries when I've only so recently made them. I've gave yall warnings at least 3 times it feels like, posted this in my account rules, the SOS rules, my pinned, my descrip. Like I don't know if you just choose to ignore it but I'm BEYOND tired of it. I'm 1 person and I can't check everyone's blogs so I would appreciate if everyone just worked together to just follow the damn rules. I am an adult so...I kind of want adults only on my blog? Is that fucking clear yet? I've blocked countless people wordlessly for this because it feels easier than explaining it 100+ times. I'll continue to block people for this until it stops, so if you want to continue having access to my blog: fucking put your age on your blog or don't interact, I dead ass do not give a shit. There's no way, shape or form I'm going to let people stomp over my boundaries on my own fucking blog, and the fact people continue to is so funny to me. It's so easy to just check peoples rules / boundaries on their blog if you enjoy their posts or whatever. But people don't do that because I'm just guessing they don't care. Alright, but just don't be surprised when you get blocked out of nowhere lol.
first of all, just a reminder / update that summer of sturniolo is 2 weeks away? WHICH IS INSANE.
but more than that, i just wanted to refresh for people who didn't initially see it before, and I'll reblog all of the information about it again, because I know the fandom is really big and some posts can get buried, lol.
and also, i've seen the fics people have submitted in the google doc form and im SO EXCITED OMG, just a reminder that it's not too late to submit for the event, its not closing or anything at at a certain time. only IF the event goes on past the 4th week, then I'll make a new form so things stay organized and streamlined! and i am SO grateful for all the support of people reblogging, commenting. and even being excited for my works, which is crazy considering i've never written for this fandom, but so cool regardless!
and i meant to finally post my masterlist, but i just wanted to be super sure i got done planning my fics and that i was in the clear to actually start being excited to post them, and today i started planning my 4th one, since i'm posting 4 au's! i'll try my best to get that out soon. i also have LOADS of stuff coming pertaining to my fics: fic intros, original character intros, character intros. i was debating on whether posting them during the event or before. I think since it's just organizational stuff, i'll just post them before
but yeah, i just wanted to make an offical post, since I am the host and I want to keep people updated. and for those who haven't seen and are seeing this TODAY or in the future: here's my big masterposts of masterlists, links and information on summer of sturniolo x. it's also my pinned if you forget where it is, so lol!
woah, sorry this is SO long, but i tried my best to condense everything as a memory refresher or as a catch up for people who haven't seen it!
summer of sturniolo starts on june 15th, and is a week by week event and anyone can jump in at ANY time. if you have any questions please send me an ask or a dm or anything!
also lastly for this, thank you SO MUCH for 100+ followers, it might not seem like much but i am so grateful for the support!!

Thereās always this sort of⦠sheen of sweat, serotonin-high, sweet relief. A rush that gets your blood coasting, a cicada-serenade something about summer. Despite the obviousness of it, I still canāt ever put my finger on it. Itās like the inhibitions of the mind-numbing school year were suddenly set free by the sticky-hot summer of Legends Creek, Kansas. In the air, in the water, practically in your veins. There was a special brand of rebellion-kick to summer that couldnāt be bottled by any other season.
It was strange, but it also just made sense to me, and that was all I cared about. People like to say, that idle time is the devilās workshop. And if that were true, then summer was hell itself. The sheer kind of dull-satisfaction that came from summer days were unmatched; especially for recently system-freed teenagers. This summer was all ours, a welcome distraction to what was to eventually would come in the autumn. Summer always felt infinite, it always came as a shock when it ended. Like a screeching halt in a horror movie when the train runs out of tracks. Just when then end-of-summer storms started rolling in. Despite knowing it ended every year. Like the thought something so seemingly-everlasting stopping nearly felt like a forbidden within itself, nearly impossible.
Coming to terms with endings isnāt exactly easy for anyone, but especially not when it came with such a sweet warm reverie like summer. It was downright vindictive. Dangerous even. Summer had the power to quickly sweep you under itās spell. So much time to think, so much more to do. And even more time to have the ultimate summer of your dreams. It gave you the ability to allow your caged inhibitions to take flight under no restraint. And this was just beginning, oh it hadnāt even started.
It was the kind of sick-joke-ending that made your head spin. A freeing feeling, like everything was going to work out. Andā¦.bam! Hit and run at 90mph. There was so much to get your hands on this summer, like a sticky fingered-kid at an all-you-can-eat candy shop. It was enough to make anyone gluttonous and greedy with the feast of opportunity set upon you. Especially knowing it would only dwindle with time. It was of the essence, sweet summer. It would let you taste rebellion, but never swallow.
June, the sweet summer child. The teenage first-taste of it all, the temperament milds before the got-the-hots July. And hopefully, the beginning of something special. But of course, I was skeptical of this perfect summer, reign of all the pseudo-teen fantasies. Iād have to see it for myself, there was no seeing what summer had in store except only to experience it, right?
Summerās were always easy for us. Carterās place was first on our list, as always. There was never any doubt, the āup to no-goodās crusadeā always started with him. He was patient zero in this whole teen brain-infection. Legendās Creek was surrounded by water, in spirit, but this was Kansas. Legendās was a water city, hence the Creek. It was all board shortās, cuffed t-shirtās & sundresses. A pseudo tropics paradise if you will. The best you could get in the Midwest, I guess. As I was on the move, taking in all of this strange city. I saw Willow making her way down the street. Even in her being a hippie do-gooder spirit, she was infected by this mischief all the same, tsk. It took down the best of us. I peered over and saw two blondeās hanging out by Samās house, one of which was him, the other was Willow.
I hurried to catch up to them, my feet quick against the warm pavement. I could feel it beneath my shoes. Summer was starting, I could already sense it. And Iād have to admit, I was feeling a little excited. āHey Wills!ā I shouted from down the street as her head swished to look behind her, popsicle in hand. Why were we yelling? There was barely anyone out. I donāt know, the summer fever is making us quite antsy, I guess.
āHey blue boy!ā Willow waved, a green popsicle staining her tongue and a dopey smile on her face. She stuck out her tongue at me in her petulance. I hated that nickname, especially because it had a double meaning. Cobalt blue hair and my less-than-happy attitude at times. āWhat is it, dumb joke June? Serving up knee-slapping slapstick all month long?ā I retorted, chuckling a little at my own joke. I looked hopefully to Sam. That heād back me up on this one, but no such luck. He was on the outs of this conversation. Not jumping as if like his hands were tied.
āNot this again,ā Sam rolls his eyes, sick of our petulance, loading up the van. I brushed him off, continuing my reign of jokes that donāt quite land. āWoah Golbach, what are you trying to do? Sneak you and Willow away under wraps?ā I joked āYou look like you two have enough in there for a honeymoon.ā I added in again, to which Willow elbowed me in the ribs in retaliation, sending me stumbling against the hot metal exterior of the van, a double whammy.
āNice one,ā Sam applauds Willow. āIt really is dumb joke June.ā He remarks, a shit-eating grin on his face as he turns to me.
āYou two really are some rotten friends.ā I retort playfully, recovering instantly in record time. Opening the sliding door and wiggling my way into the backseat. Itās scorching, as expected. Summer already has Legends Creek in her vice grip, twisting and twisting. āTurn the AC on or something.ā I quip, laying out dramatically, faking the verge of a heatstroke
āThe engine isnāt even on.ā Sam says bluntly, closing the trunk as Willow makes her way āround the side. Today is all 70 degree weather untapped potential it seems. Iām just brimming with curiosity to what Iāll be dragged along to next. The possibilities are quite endless. Iām eager to get away from it all, trading long summer days for lonesome shadow dances of Serenity High school was something Iād switch in an instance.
āWell turn it on, clusterfuck! Iām dying here!ā I yelp, ever melodramatic as Sam makes his way toward the drivers side in a hurry (to shut me up most likely). Quickly turning on the engine leaning over the seat. āThere, ya big baby.ā He says, climbing in. To my surprise, Willowās in front seat. āHey, we never swap seats, thatās Carterās seat.ā I peep as the engine roars to life like the bass of a club classic.
āItās hot, and youāre slicking up the backseat like a slip nā slide, itās gross.ā Willow rolled her eyes, buckling in, not heading my warning. āYou two act like its 110, its barely 70.ā I roll my eyes at their antics. āAnd Iām not sweating that much.ā I say defensively
āWeāve been out here loading up this crap for Carter, per his request.ā Sam says, wiping sweat from his forehead, driving one-handed, what a showoff. Of course itās Carter, heās the ringmaster of our dysfunctional circus. Meanwhile Sam quickly backs out of the driveway, and Iām unceremoniously thrown from the backseat from lack of seat belt, Willow was right, this seat really is slick. (Not that I would ever tell her that.) Sam drifts off in the middle of his sentence, half-focused on driving and half-distracted by the sun. āSomething about prepping for summerā¦ā¦..whoa Colby, you okay?ā Sam questions, looking to me in the backseat for a split second, before looking back to the road.
āYeah. Ah, the throes of summer, never gets old.ā I sigh languidly, nonetheless scrambling to get back on the seat before we make it halfway down the block. Days like this make me happy that the worst is behind us. All of the cheers & fears have been put to rest, and now itās time for the ultimate summer bummer. Willowās fidgeting with the radio, and Sam is attempting to keep the sun out of his eyes. āA pair of sunglasses may suffice.ā I point out like the little shit I am.
āThen how the hell am I supposed to see the road?ā Sam groans, flicking down the sun visor attempts of chasing away the early afternoon sun. It is pretty bright out, itās the kind of early Summer day that's a preface to the muggy dog-dayās of summer later down the road. June days are always the perfect blend between chilly May days & that silly masquerade for true summer heat. June days that are just on that very edge, but theyāll never be the real thing. Its like weāre veering off of a steep cliff, like looking down the barrel of a gun. Not knowing when the shot will ring out.
ā½
Weāre settled in the low-lights of the garage like weāre some strange band of degenerates. When we arrive at Carterās house heās already half high. In a t shirt-turned-tank with the sleeves ripped off. Clearly heās already very ready for the summer. āHeyyyyā¦.party peopleeee.ā He slurs, heās in the beginning of a slap-happy, red-eyed palooza, everything is suddenly funny and/or deep. Classic Carter.
āGod, Iād hate to think what the van would smell like if this shit was in it.ā Sam announces, taking a hit quickly. āJust as I suspected.ā He side-eyes quizzically, his eyes squinted, as if he needed to ātestā it. Soon coughing violently from the smoke as Carter clutches his stomach from laughing. Itās days like this that I really appreciate, somehow. Itās only the first day of summer and Iām already half-convinced this will be the best summer yet. Or at least thatās all itās cracked up to be in the movies. But history has proven movies arenāt exactly guides to reality, but itās nothing a few adventures canāt fix. Stupid friends, thatās all you need to have a good time in this town.
Everyoneās looking at Carter like heās crazy, usually heās cut and dry, sarcastic and a little patronizing, and weāre all adjusting. āWhat? Cāmon, weāre officially graduated seniors, weāre due for some celebration right?ā Carter grins, his face droopy and relaxed, looking around, expecting us to agree. He throws his arms up into the air like heās hatching a big plan. And all of us just look at each other. Because that sounds exactly like what the cool kids would do, I grimace especially. I pop a squat on the old plaid couch, my mood a little soured from what I know weāre all thinking of. I purse my lips, before I speak āHow about, no.ā I say sarcastically āNo parties, no streamers, no preppy bullshit. Just a reckless abandon summer?ā I smile mischievously, because god knows we all need an escape. From the year weāve just had, we nearly need a permanent vacation.
Still, despite the promises of grandeur ahead of me. All the fun weāre meant to have and will. I still canāt help but peak behind the curtains of hollow escapade to the root of the problem. Despite going to college next fall, Iām unsure of where this path will go. Itās like a winding road thatās fogged with uncertainty and mystery. Andā¦Iām not exactly too keen on finding out, or being blinded. Life can be strange like that, going from extreme to extreme was never the best choice of action. But itās not like I have any other ideas. Summer can be but a sweet distraction for whatās to come. The luscious honeyed days come at a price for my overactive imagination & unsure future. Itās almost like living life on autopilot. Like, I know where life is headed, all the benchmarks, but not personal notes, the growth and change. And something tells me that itās somewhat crucial. Itās like having the ingredientsā¦.but not the entire cake, yāknow?
I try not to focus on the perilous future, and focus on the now. I focus on the sights in front of me once I open my eyes. All of the teenage hyprocracy coming to life at this very moment. Almost as if all of the chaos we were all capable of had released itself in a fiery inferno that was summer. Weāre holding out, and we all know it. June was just the toe-dip into the insanity teenagers unaware of their potential could get into. And I was so ready to go all the way. It almost feels like our bodies are ready to rip our souls from the seams of humanity and just go ghost. Just⦠be free and fly, butā¦.whatās to come? And just like that, everything thatās already happened shoots me down and pierces me. Like a hunter and a prized bird. But I can all but see the end of this summer, Itās all I can think about.
Iām half addicted to the thrill and half-terrified of it, barreling towards the end like a roller coaster. I almost canāt bear to see it, itās white-hot, toned and bleached. With a side of palm trees and bubbly waves. At least, thatās what I think & see. In my imagination, thereās so much to explore in this soulless city. And my eyes are looking for an insurmountable feast.
Anything to distract me would be great right now, this craving, if not bone deep. Feelsā¦.wanderlust.
āReckless abandon summer? Boyā¦. Colby, class of 09ā has got you down in the dumps, huh?ā Carter chuckles, breaking me out of my bored-induced reverie. And itās bitterly true and real. Senior year had chewed me up and spit me out. Iām pretty sure if I rolled my eyes one more time in that school they would have fell out. Iām not sure if that wouldāve been the worst of my worries. Considering Iād rather scoop them out with spoons than witness the popular-brigade one last time. Thereās still traces of it in this old city, it rings in my ears like a sick lullaby. Hanging over my head, everything Iāve seemed to not grasp in my hands. To feel, to see, to experience for myself. It makes me ache.
It seems like ever haunted memory sinks into the asphalt for gods sake; every step creaks and groans with the past. But, thankfully this is when it gets steaming, and Iām hoping for hell-hot temperatures to melt those away. For the waves to wash away the worries, but itās a foolish manās games, and Iām playing right into it.
āYou have no idea.ā I reply, shaking off the thoughts, picking up a beer. Days like this have been happening ever since last summer. That sweet 70 faded to a muggy 80 as the skies turned quickly grey. The first day of summer was turning into a tumultuous storm. It was strange. Storms rarely happened this early in the summer, but I wouldnāt doubt it. The last few months have felt like a bad omen for sure. Like, a low tornado warning that blares in the background, until a glass-shattering fever-pitch crashes in like a tsunami wave. And I have a sneaking suspicion that glass is about to shatter & break the first day of college. 17 was stupid, 18 is deadly. What were we thinking? Growing up in this day of age nearly felt exhausting to the soul. I never really got the hype of these muggy nights, even out of the academia nightmare. Summer still had the twist of teenage vital life-blood that I had so sorrily missed out on.
But then again, did I ever really miss out on anything? Can you ever really know what youāre missing out on if youāve never experienced it? I guess not. Even though Iām partial to the teenage dream, I do hope this summer provides some insight into the feelings I seem to be missing. Ever since graduation I donāt feel hope or jolly. I simply crave to escape. From what I do know, the curse of knowing can eat you alive sometimes. But how to escapeā¦I donāt. But somehow through some thinking (which Iāve sworn against this summer). I feel the call of nostalgia within me while still moving towards something new. Itās a strange juxtaposition, but nothing new, and the dull ache is a strange imposition against the summerās hue.
ā½
The call of this amber-hued city is doing me in. Oh, Legends Creek, what do I have to say about you? Between the college town and the city lightsā¦there isnāt much to say really. Itās one blip on the map. But, to others its everything. In my honest assumption, for kids like us, this place is only interesting if you know people who know people. And the losers and the outcasts arenāt usually successful social networks. To say the least, but we try. Nor are we bathing in the lights by 9 out chasing street lightning. Living it up isnāt really possible unless youāreā¦..popular. God, I hate that word, but to grapple with the way of the world you need the truth. But I canāt ever help but not be curious, right?
This place is the same as it always was, looking for change is like searching for a new trend in a nostalgia-faded decade. Impossible and pointless. So is looking for new things to do, in a city like this. Being a reject gets real old, real fast. But Iām not quite sure that Iām up for the role, I never signed up for it. But I guess that I have no choice.
Itās July now, and the shiny bright newness of summer has faded all but much. The dull-ache of all I feel Iāve missed out on is still present. Like a stubborn grey cloud splashing against the optimistic bright blue sky. I look around at all weāve accomplished this summer. It isnāt much, it never feels like much either. Honestly, this summer is good, a worthy escape. But as time goes on, the long days will shorten & the limitless skies will soon turn dreamless and grey. As the winter months go on, the glass ceiling of impossibility will crack our skulls with the force. I for one, am absolutely dreading it. I hate the uncertainty of what comes next. But I canāt stay in this funk forever, being comfortable can be a curse, Iāve learned.
āThis summer has been something, huh?ā Sam asks, looking to me as our friends swim in the creek while I kick my legs back and forth in it. The gentle water clears my murky head a bit. But its not enough to completely clean out the gunk and funk from senior year. Gosh, forget about sophomore slump, summer of senior year completely crushes it in every way possible. My head feels like a garbage disposal, exactly what youād think, yeah.
āI just donāt want it to be over.ā I sigh, facing the very-real future weāre steam rolling towards, running over every defense Iāve put up. āWho knows whats lurking around the corner, yāknow?ā I say, looking thoughtfully off into the ivy-green distance, where everything is so bright. For nowā¦.for now. But I know itāll change, thatās what I needā¦.a good change, right? I can only hope & pray, dream, and worship it the idea of it. Believing is what makes it real, right? I feel like a fate-less priest at the altar, cursed with the knowledge, cursed with knowing.
But yeah, as for senior yearā¦summer is for sure better in comparison. I just canāt figure out why people claim senior year is supposed to be āthe end-all-be-allā for joy and teenage folly. Whatās so great about it? I feels like everyone's singing in the key of life and Iām slightly off pitch. Itās not as if I crave to go back and fix the past. Because lost time is lost time. But I want to know why. Whyā¦can everything change in an instance, yet stay the same for years? Figuring out the so-called gilded teenage years is damaging to my psyche, it just hurts my head to think about.
Forward on still, it haunts me. Not the fact that everyone wants to be cool, even though I never understood that, either. Itās the sheer complexity that is a popular kid. Everything it takes and all it encompasses. They just rule over everything, almost flawlessly. Not daring to reveal their secrets, not ever. Weāre teenagers not monarchs, for fucks sake. But itās not as if I have a say in it. Thatās how this whole stupid thing works. Cool kids have just got it, and Iām not even sure what it is, they donāt even have to try. Its like theyāre chosen. But in a way, they are. You don't get popular just off of sheer whim alone. People have to know you, like you. And Iām not sure most popular kids check off that list, at all.
Ugh, I despise this town, and itās history. I despise it because I have no idea anything about it at all. But, it looks like Iāll be finding out soon. Evansen, here we come. High school is all about legacies, and all you leave behind. But the thing is, Iām ready to leave high school behind, in its entirety. But the legacy is all it has to offer, I know that now. And all Iāve been given in comparison to my expectations seem like a paradox. Itās all shadows, smoke, and mirrors. But behind it, thereās really something, I can feel it. But everything I can find (or hope to) is turning up disillusioned.
