People had warned Jake about the all possible problems in an age gap relationship like theirs. He had dismissed those concerns, well-meaning as they were, because they didn't know Beau like he did.
Nobody warned him about this, though.
"It's freezing out here," Jake groaned. "Let's just go, babe."
"But winter swimming is good for you! Haven't you read about the health benefits?" Beau walked briskly towards the shoreline, Jake reluctantly on his tail.
"If there's no one else on the beach, that should tell you something!"
"You know, it helps boost circulation… Thought you'd at least appreciate that part."
A wave threw a few drops of icy water on Jake's shin.
"Fuck that, I'm still young," he yelped, jumping away. "I'll support you by the towels but please be quick."
Nobody warned him about the health fads middle-aged men could get into. Though if their biggest relationship issue was a couple of weird hobbies, well, Jake counted himself lucky.
